29 shots in The Players today at Sawgrass, 5 birdies and an eagle. Lowest before that was lots of 30s.

    Sums up his day really.

Pity, putting letting him down big time.

A poor enough putt on the last means he drops another shot.

Hmm. Finishes on -5. Could he be out with GMac tomorrow? Or Rory?

He's done that a few times this season now, got himself into a great position in a tournament and thrown in a very poor round.

Playing with GMac at 6.10pm, hopefully get to see him a bit.

Pity about a poor round, especially as he had chances on 16/17 to pull some back. Hopefully he'll be at more ease today not in the last group, a solid round could go a long way.

Out at 6.00 I think. Anyway, let's hope the 'bad round' is out of the way now - absolutely nothing went right for him yesterday. He's tied 15th, so still in a good position to get some handy points today.

2 birdies in 3 today, but pga app said he's birdied 3 in a row

EDIT: Updated now, 3 birdies in 4. C'mon Shane

Great start for Shane.......good night of TV in store!

Choppy enough round - dropped back to -1 for the day, grabbed another birdie to get to -2 and then had a poor bogey on the last.

Shane has a great record at Wentworth with three top tens in six appearances (2nd, 4th, 6th). I think this could be his week.

    Currently -2 after four holes.

After a bogey and double on back to back holes on the closing nine he managed to get 2 birdies to finish -3 for the round 4 shots off the lead

A decent round in the end and a good recovery from the three dropped shots. This is normally when his season gets going and hopefully it'll be the same this year. I feel he's not quite at it though and the focus he had last season is gone amiss.

Really? I can't see him stopping til he has at least a Major under his belt.

Like I said he is just not the focused player of the last few years. I really hope stupid things like qualifying for the Ryder Cup and Olympics are not weighing down on him because that would be foolish.

Today's disaster doesn't make those things any easier. He would have hoped for a high finish to boost his Ryder Cup chances but now he has to decide if he should try again at the French or defend his WGC in Ohio.

I think he's a shoe-in for the Olympics but I'm sure the RC is a huge target and its falling out of range.

The French is double RC points and counts as 2 European tour events as well as being the 2018 host? Its a bit of a no brainer which event to play.

But it would be a fairly big insult to the PGA Tour and Bridgestone to not defend his title. And then even if he does compete at the French, how likely will it be that he will make the RC team anyway. Definitely a difficult decision for him.
