    In my kitchen just now:

Daughter: What are you smiling about Daddy?
Me: I just learned how to do smilies.
daughter: OMG Daddy, you just type colon and bracket or colon capital P or whatever. Who showed you?
me: A woman in Dublin. She's a runner.

    Thursday 26th May
Rest - just did some yoga and one of myles’s workouts, can’t remember now which one, cut the grass and a clothes clear out. Funny how none of my running gear made the recycling bags :p

    Friday 27th May
Day off work. Had a long lazy lie in followed by a massage, heaven. Opted for a walk in St Catherines instead of a run. One of those lovely days you never want to end.

    Saturday 28th May
Volunteered in Cabinteely parkrun, another lovely day followed by 3.4 miles @ 11:03 avg hr 134 - mile 3 of this was at 10:40 :) Fantastic run, felt great, wanted to carry on for another few miles. Never made the gym or the pool though..

    Sunday 29th May
Another early start and more volunteering at a local Duathlon that the club are involved in. The weather was fantastic but very hot, I had been on the registration desk and then headed out to marshal on the road for the 10k run. Some cars were speeding as they approached where I was, we had cones out in a part there’s no footpath, the amount of abuse I got was unreal, one driver completely ignored me, and the cones and actually hit the first one as they passed, another guy barrelled down the middle of the road (obstruction on his side) when there was traffic coming the other way - what the hell is wrong with people??!! Anyway, followed up with
3.4 miles @ 11:35 avg hr 135. The heat + a late night and early start meant the pace was lower for the same HR today but really enjoyed this run too. Skipped the gym in favour of lying in the back garden for the afternoon, bliss. Didn’t do a full workout but did manage some bridges and a few yoga poses in the evening.

Ah thanks Neady :) be careful though, I see the backslapping police are on duty again and apparently now judgements are being meted out for logging runs individually   as aquinn would say 'christ on a bike' :D

Ah that's a little unfair and out of context :D

In context I picked up on the question being negative and gave positives. No judgements were passed specifically about logging runs individually. I do that myself on occasion now and a lot in the past. What I was on about was the culture of celebrating every single normal mundane run as if it were a mega achievement. It dilutes the ones that deserve celebrating IMO. And for the record this log was not in my mind whatsoever. :pac:

:D and here I assumed you never read my log. I guess if we are talking perspectives, mine is one where I'd use the word 'support' rather than backslapping (I know you were using the term in response to the question) and people can log whatever way they want, its their log after all :pac: I just dislike judgements in general, none of us are perfect!! But we're all entitled to our difference of opinions :p Hope your enjoying the hot seat!!

I dip in and out of loads of logs. Don't actively follow many as the notifications go crazy so I tend to read like newspapers what logs are recent posts when I'm on myself. I'd have answered differently if it was termed support TBH. :)

Yeah it's interesting to say the least. Some of the questions have made me stop and think a bit. Thanks again for the nod !

    Monday 30th May
3 miles @ 10:47, avg HR 123…..erm huh? I’m sure there’s something not quite right with the technology on this one but I’ll take it! Lovely lovely run despite being a bit on the tired side from a few late nights and my quest to drink more water was a quick glass before I headed out the door!! #mustdobetter.

    Tuesday 31st May
3 miles @ 11:30 avg HR 133, holy hell it was roasting tonight, headed out the door as soon as I got home as wanted to get up to the 5 mile race and do some cheering. Stopped somewhere in mile 2 as met a clubmate on his way to race and had a chat. Beautiful evening but wasn’t in the least bit envious of anyone racing in that, I had brilliant run on this course last year though. Spotted Denis but missed AMK although bumped into him and overpronator (nice to meet you!) on their warm down run. Well done both! Delighted you got your sub 30 Alan :)

    Wednesday 1st June
Lunch Run 3.1 miles @ 11:00 avg hr 124 - loving this fab weather, HR behaving itself and all felt good.
PM: Trip home to my natural habitat for a walk down Dunlaoghaire pier and a Teddy’s 99 :p, SS was looking resplendent in the evening summer sun.

    Thursday 2nd June
    Rest

    Friday 2nd June: 3.5 miles @ 10:42 avg HR 130
Only had one window for a run today which was before work so walked the dog and then turned around straight out the door for this at 7am. Lovely cool time of day to run which is probably reflected in the low pace v hr.

    Saturday 3rd June: 3.5 miles @ 11:22 avg HR 130
Another scorcher, a late night followed by an early morning meant not as rested for this and the body was feeling tired, took a mile for the legs to loosen out but once they did it was lovely. Had some hip trouble this morning in a complicated yoga pose and thought it might cause trouble on the run but thankfully not. Got a (very thoughtful) pressie of one of those fancy smacy water bottles with inbuilt filter so no excuse for me now not to be properly hydrated.
Also had a trip to the bike shop to see my new baby, will be collecting her next Friday and have already been invited on a 50K sportif next month :p #slipperyslope can’t wait to get out for a ride and hopefully the weather stays as it is for a little longer. Never made the pool or the gym but will make extra special effort to get there tomorrow and Monday.

Worked my way through most of the functional movement workouts and will get Myrtle done tomorrow.

    Sunday 5th June
Nothing, late night, too many beers, ate my bodyweight in cake too  never made the gym so just a long walk along Sandymount with the dog and duvet in the garden day.

    Monday 6th June
3.5 miles @ 11:11 avg HR 131, out early for this as was marshalling at the WMM most of the day thereafter. Got a super spot though at the 9k mark right beside a band so had a blast bopping and cheering and of course some responsible marshalling thrown in for good measure. Turned out to be a lovely day and ended up with a t-shirt tan despite slathering myself in factor 30 before leaving the house. Followed up with a lovely relaxing chill out evening as my back and feet were feeling all that standing around.

    Tuesday 7th June
    3.8 miles @ 10:45 avg HR 132
Stood on the scales this morning to see aforementioned cake has stuck and 4LBS found their way onto me literally overnight - disaster :( Not surprising though given the amount of wine/chocolate (cake!) I’ve been eating and I’ve missed the gym 2 weekends in a row now. Went a bit further on todays run in an effort to burn more calories!! Delighted to see the pace / HR ratio staying below 11.

    Wednesday 8th June
    3 miles @ 10:43 avg HR 121
Was feeling the heat, or the humidity I’m not sure which, today and struggling to stay awake. Headed down the quays where there was a lovely cooling breeze but the second you turn off the river the dead heat hits you in the face. Sweating (sorry glowing) more than TBL on the treadmill on this one :p #gross

RHR is still dropping and was 49 one of the days this week :) runs are feeling fandabydozy

    Thursday 9th June 3 miles @ 11:00 avg hr 131
Had to get out early for this one as a busy day and a busy evening ahead. Misty morning, I thought it was nice & cool but actually turned out to be still quite humid. Enjoyable nonetheless

    Friday 10th June
Rest, nada. Picked up the bike on Friday evening, literally the second I handed over the money & took possession the heavens opened to torrential rain   oh well, might as well get used to it!!! Will hopefully get out for a cycle over the weekend before attempting to commute.

    Saturday 11th June
Run Director Cabinteely parkrun    made a few rookie mistakes but thankfully had meno and marthastew on hand to help! Mission accomplished though as no incidents and the results were uploaded, what more could you ask for :p. Very lucky with the weather as it stayed nice and dry although quite warm for the runners.

Special thanks to Hillsiderunner and Aero2K for volunteering today, to Nop98 for coming along as part of his long run and then helping with the token sorting in the coffee shop afterward, sorry I didn't get much of a chance to chat with any of you, I really appreciated your support today. Thanks too to meno for sorting a few potential issues before they developed! And of course to Marthstew for being so brilliant as always :)

Hopefully I'll get out for either a run or a cycle later on today but it'll be another no show at the pool/gym

That's the luxury of *not* being in marathon training :). Thought everything ran quite smoothly today, I'm sure Cabinteely will be looking forward to your next RD outing!

+1 to the above - it all seemed to go flawless. You even sorted out the weather, it was hot and humid, but a few hours later, it was pouring down rain. Well done!
