Unfortunately it seems richie picked up a bad hand injury he will be a huge loss against dublin

He got a belt on his hand, which looked accidental, in the first half and got attention for it. He got further attention a couple of minutes later as it was obviously hurting . He played for a while in the second half but was not taking frees. Richie has had his share of injuries in the last nine months

****. Sake. Has the feel of one of THOSE years.

Unlucky with injuries already this year and the panel is wearing thin.

If true, it depends how severe it is and the timeframe to get back to action again.

    It's all that Richie needs!!!!

It certainly has the feeling of one of those years but as brian always preaches its all about the panel.richie should probaly make it back for the leinster final should we progress at the moment shane pender is out with hanstring, michael fennelley is probaly 50/50 and hogan is definitely out on the plus side paul murphy, larkin fogarty and colin have all recovered which will certainly strenghten things up.

Anybody know much about the U-21 Westmeath team? They lost last year in the quarter-final to Offaly. In 2014 they beat Carlow and then lost narrowly to Dublin in the semi-final. Are any of the U-21s on Michael Ryan's senior team?

The Leinster U-21 draw turned out very lopsided this year. Wexford, KK, and Dublin all on one side.

I just spotted this on the Kilkenny GAA website.
Congrats to Castlecomer Community School on their AI win.
Castlecomer Community School won their first ever All Ireland Hurling Community & Comprehensive Final when defeating Blackwater by a single point in a nail biting game in Walsh Park Waterford.

Castlecomer CS took control of the game from the start and maintained their lead up to the 59th minute when Blackwater leveled the game. In the last few seconds of normal time James Bergin played a Captains role when he scored the winning point to see Castlecomer CS claim their first ever All Ireland Hurling Community title.

The Cup was presented to Captain James Bergin by the Waterford Senior Hurling manger Derek McGrath.

On their way to the final Castlecomer CS defeated Portuma on a scoreline of 3.20 to 1.11 in the quarter final. In the semi final Castlecomer defeated st. Camans by 3.16 to 0.5.

They are showing Dublin v Wexford, but that is on June 1st, not tonight.

I presume they will also show the semi-final involving KK/Westmeath v Dublin/Wexford along with the final.

Richie confirmed out for 6 weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,561 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

    From here:
The extent of the damage will be assessed by a specialist in Dublin on Friday and if surgery is required it could put him out of action for more than the six weeks required to heal the break.

Big Blow losing Richie Hogan, getting a bit tight in the forwards. Wondering would we get away with starting TJ close to goal to provide more of a goal threat or is this taking to much from the half forward line. Possibly something like

    Walter C Fennelly Larkin
JJ Farrell TJ Reid Chris Bolger

I think it probably is taking too much out. Probably going to need someone who can win lots of primary possession because with the sweepers so many teams are playing any loose ball is likely to be hard to come by. Would keep C Fen in FF and hope he is on the very best of form, in which case he is still a decent goal threat. But no matter what way you shuffle those cards it's a relatively weak hand. It's going to be a nervous year I think...

Yeah we're kind of getting a bit tight on the ground with forwards alright.

Think if I'd go with Blanchfield instead of JJ but in fairness to JJ he did play well against Clare in the league semi. Hopefully John Walsh might be brought into the senior panel now as well.

Given the injuries in the senior panel now it gives a great chance for some of the U-21 players to put there hand up and get a chance with the seniors over the next few weeks!!

Getting lighter and lighter upfront alright.

Colin has good pace and could slot in anywhere in the forwards. Bolger would offer a goal threat if given the chance i think.

Will he get that chance though?

That's a very strong ff line in the sense that they're very direct and off a goal threat. TJ alternates between half forward and full forwards anyway.

The bigger question is re: the forwards who can come on and make a decent impact to the point of turning a game?

To be fair I think if all other teams were offered Colin Fennelly they would bit your hand off for him. I agree he is a very good option in at full forward, I think thats been the plan B over the last few years, he is very good at winning low ball and ranges into space from one side to the other, if he can improve is finishing he will be a serious threat to any team.
