Can someone PM me the name too,my husband thinks it might be someone he grew up with and theres no death notice in the paper and its not in RIP.ie

I suggested that he ring the workplace of the person he thinks it it,if he is told this person isnt available he could be just on holidays,it would be much easier if someone would just PM me the name,Thanks in advance.

I also dont think its any of the moderators business what people PM to each other, thats meddling in things that dont concern you and not moderating.

This Board has gone to the dogs with all the moderating, its supposed to be for adults.

I suppose I will be banned now,*heavy sighs*

Fair play. Even this late into the thread you found a unique angle on being self righteous.

Not self righteous in the slightest. There is a second body that was found, but nobody wants to know who they are. You don't think this is messed up? How very odd. Everybody asking to be PMed who this person is.. it just seems incredibly icky to me, that's all. Someone's dead and you all want to gossip.

    Huh.

    A reminder:
    MOD
Stop speculating. There is nothing about this missing persons case being a suicide.
Suicide is an important topic but linking it to this missing persons case is not the place.

I don't want to see any more PM requests for speculation either.

PM all you like, it's not my business as long as it's in the terms of use. Making requests for PMs in posts on thread on this sensitive subject are not allowed. There is a destinction and that is what is being moderated.
If you have a problem with moderation, airing it in a post on thread is not the place to do so and is part of the charter. PM myself or any of the other AH mods for clarity on this (yes, I realise the irony of this).

Given the secrecy surrounding the case I'd suggest that your husband doesn't go contacting this person's office or family. They clearly want privacy so I doubt they really care if your husband once knew him.

Yeah, if her husband was anyway close to him or his family, presumably he'd know already that the poor man was dead, instead of nosing on an internet forum.

Would it be a good idea to lock the thread?

It could be opened again if the identity of the deceased man is in the public domain.

Just a thought, and not trying to do the Mods job either!

Considering his death didn't even make the death notices i'd say it'll be locked for good.
They've done an amazing job of keeping this under the radar, it's a credit to the media and emergency services he was obviously well respected.

Your right lock the thread and let the man sleep in peace!

Good response Claire, that's certainly puts you closer to God than I.

Well do you know what Claire, I've decided.... I DONT WANT TO KNOW. Because if me asking a simple question allows you and certain other "defenders of integrity and decent behaviour on the Internet" to take the moral high ground and judge the rest of us, then I'm not gonna be your enabler. So hopefully this will free you to return to Twitter and start posting things like "I know that was a terrible accident in UK, but 2000 people died in Iraq last week #justsayin"

    Good luck.

    ...

    Somebody is having a tantrum.
PS I am not on Twitter.

A quick google has found the name so anyone here could do that and close the thread as said.

    Jesus, Sun. Pure speculation.

I wish newspapers had to ..I dunno how you'd do it. Maybe they have to be able to point to over 60% of their articles being able to pass certain guidelines to do with quality reporting (some vague attempt at accuracy, no using emotive language to insinuate something to cover that nothing's known and some ability to find their collective arse with both hands. A map may be used.). If they can't manage this annually, they're not allowed call themselves a newspaper for the next year. They have to call themselves "****epaper" or "Scandalrag" for the year in big red letters all over the front page.

    Poor man and his family.

No one can know what he was going through out there, but it ended very sadly.

Not the first and not the last sadly.

    May he rest in peace.

For those of you posting that there was no interest in the person whose body was found while the earlier search for the 'radio pundit' was going on, you couldn't be more wrong. His identity was revealed, his death was announced and all was done with much sympathy and dignity. Unfortunately, in County Clare, like in many counties, we have a lot of practice now in handling these heartbreaking events. May he rest in peace and his bereaved family be comforted. http://clareherald.com/2016/05/body-recovered-from-water-in-liscannor-36352/

I see nothing wrong in being curious about the identity of the person whose remains were found near Doolin. That is what makes a community. Who has been born, who has died, who is making eyes at whom. What scuppered us this time was the misleading pointers towards 'a celebrity'. In this bloody country it seems anyone who has come within a asses roar of a radio microphone or a tv camera is 'a celebrity'. They're not and he wasn't. The cat and mouse game played about who he was turned out to be very unsettling. That said, may he rest in peace and wishing comfort to his family and friends.

He was named in one of the national papers at the weekend.
    Poor man, RIP.

You're literally all posting the same link, which doesn't even give confirmation anyway.
