Rumours circulating again re Pa O Callaghan - acc to PROC hes back with 21s - id heard hes minding an injury - i havent seen any Ballyhea games this year yet - anyone any updates ?

Hurling champion starting next week. Who are people's fancy. Rockies Midleton Newtown Bride Rovers all going well in league. Winners from those ???

League form a poor barometer, Sars not the force they were, personally id have Midleton favorites this year but Newtown are battling well

Douglas, Rockies due to get their act together but maybe not this year either

The PROC lads said the Echo confirmed it? Haven't seen him this year but the two championship games I saw him play in last year he was by far the best player on the pitch. There's going to be a hell of a lot of pressure on him though.

Great news. I believe he was training with them out in CIT last week.

He hasnt played the last 2 league games with Ballyhea and they lost both. he played against Youghal on the 17th April and scored 1-14 (9 fr, 1 x 65, 1 x side line) out of 2-21 as they won.

Agree with you re Midleton and Sars. Midleton have had a couple of below par years following their 2013 win but won't be far off I think. Sars definitely appear to have slipped a little but still wouldn't rule them out. Mind you the current management set up isn't a progressive move imo.
Can't see Douglas (football distractions) or Newtown as real contenders either. Last 4 maybe but thats about it.
Glen had a famous win last year but won't do back to back.
Blackrock are a mystery to me at this stage. Seriously struggling to translate huge underage success into anything resembling a senior hurling team. Maybe it has to happen at some stage but very little evidence yet of an upturn in the fortunes.
Don't think Barrs, Bride, Na Piarsaigh, Carrigtwohill, Ballyhea or Erins Own will really rattle it.
That pretty much leaves the colleges and the divisions. Hard to know what you'll get with UCC/CIT as it totally depends on what players are available to them on any given day (which in itself is symbolic of a flawed system).
Of the divisions, there's a bit of talk about Imokilly. The players are there if they can pull it all together. That's a big IF..................
In summary, my € is on Midleton.

Midleton and Imokilly for me as favourites. Imokilly seem to be doing a lot and appear well organised so could see them having a right go off it

There's no other clubs really looking consistent enough to rattle it

I see where you're coming from Figsy but don't necessarily agree with you regarding pressure on him. When he does fall in with the seniors he'll be just another player who does or doesn't make it at that level.
For what it's worth I think he has what it'll take to succeed at the top level and best of luck to him.

My money is also on Midleton. I Think Bride could be dark horses Youghal in first round and then winners of Ballymaryle / Avondhy game. A guy called Richard Whitty has joined them from de glen. Supposed to be good.

What do people think about seanie mac's comments on the Sunday game about Kingston working very hard on physical and defending. Are they training in CIT and is it possible to watch or is it closed.

Expected to be a bigger win, but they got the job done. And that's what matters.

I'd be happy enough with that.

feel like rolling out the tumbleweed again :).

what are peoples thoughts on Sundays lineup? any chance of Collins ahead of Nash? who replaces McDonnell? Joyce or Ellis at centreback?

Also, any word on the intermediate team with the new selection rules?

What will be the back line and will they add some steal to their play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 571 ✭✭✭Figsy32

Presuming the back line will have to be some combination of Cahalane, Joyce, O'Sullivan, Murphy, Ellis, McLaughlin. Probably lining out in that order? Maybe Egan and Killian Burke also?

I think we're at a stage with this team where there's a possibility they can take a scalp in each game, and they probably will take one during the year, but you can't make any sort of confident prediction that they'll beat Tipp. How many of our players realistically get in the Tipp team? Harnedy and possibly Lehane and Joyce?

It's a team that's proven to be terribly inconsistent but if they hit their straps they can win this game.

    Lads where is TTM!

For those of you who are that way inclined, he has resurfaced on PROC. New moniker but unmistakable - poor spelling, poor sentence construction, shocking punctuation, repetition beyond belief, non stop rambling, non stop posting day and night.
    Yep, definitely him.

Just threw a few bob on ye to beat Tip the weekend.

Don't think this Cork team are as bad as people have been making out, yes inconsistent but also well capable of putting it up to most teams on their day.

Defensively they were shocking throughout the league but I expect them to have a sweeper for tipp and have by all accounts put a lot of work in over the last few months since Galway.

I got 11/4 so happy enough, looking forward to it.

Could be worth a cheeky tenner alright, but as Figsy mentioned, how many would get on the Tipp team. Harnedy...

So much for a development squad. Hard to see many, if any, make a step up from that intermediate team to the seniors.

It's that time of year again when my heart tells me we will be competitive and will be hurling in September. Unfortunately my head is telling me we will struggle. The unknown this year is going to become clear very soon. I think we are going to be very physical this year and borderline to aggressive hopefully not giving away to many frees but making sure the door to goal is closed. The good news is we under the radar, no one is giving us a prayer. My prediction is tipp by 5
