Had a quick look at the first page there. Oh good god. :(

Horrible as they may be to interact with, I think most of them are lonely and confused about what's expected of them and boiling with anger because of it. Of course they're blaming the wrong people, which makes it easy to scorn them. I just don't feel right laughing at them.

actually, your side of the argument has been rubbish. you have proved nothing except that you have feminist tendencies.

This..I said it a few pages back
you're literally arguing against nothing though - the original post was about women who wore MAD amounts of makeup and fakery....

but you've turned it into a witchhunt against the OP and a weird feminazi approach to your replies.

nobody is slamming women here... it's just an opinion from the OP and you seem to be the one getting worked up in defense of something which the OP said is trivial...

    This also

"that's OUR thing - you're not allowed talk about it"?.

This is exactly what you seem to be portraying
you've derailed the whole thing with your agenda.

I also said this a few pages back
Why is the fact that some women wear a lot of make up so upsetting to some?
Its not like its being brought into legislation across the board or anything. I also like the fact that I am typing this without as much as a screed of mascara. :D

Its not upsetting, what it represents is unsettling rather...still havent grasped that, have you?

Don't trust them for a minute Candie, given half a chance they would tear you limb from limb with their bare hands :D

Enlighten me so...what does it represent in such an unsettling manner, as you put it?

Well.. this thread went from being funny to being misandristic and misogynistic.

Yup, neckbeard, feminazi...I've nearly got boards bingo!

if this thread had been started by a female, it would have been "oh yeah the state of your woman wearing that level of make up"

so why do the so-called "cackle gang" get so worked up because a male brought up the topic?

"that's OUR thing - you're not allowed talk about it"?

    'A female', jesus christ.

And I know you've been banned from the thread but just to say that's definitely not true. Similar topics have come up plenty times in The Ladies' Lounge and 'ha the state of her' is definitely not the tone of those threads.

Not that the words that actual women say are more valid than your opinions about what women really think or anything mad like that.

    It's mainly sad though, genuinely.

I also hate things that exist just to laugh at people.

Sad. And disturbing. In equal measures imo.

The amount of arguing done on this thread.

I think the moderators of this site must genuinely sit and laugh at everyone who even contributes to it.

Be smart - be like mods.

    Cont. out.

Is it necessary to add the joker level of makeup to feel ok about yourself?? Do you not think theres something more important at play?? Do you not think this is all a question of health? be it, mental or physical?

If you are looking to solve a problem, you treat the root of the problem, not the symptom

(And forget the straw man arguments, I've stated numerous times ive no problem with a tasteful amount of makeup. Dont even go there..I am talking specifically about one cohort)

This,,but as you've done through the entire thread you ignored every single part of that post in favour of your own agenda

It's called I've gotten a bee sting on the lips but it's not what I usually look like but I'm going to go with it for the hell of it. I'm female and I'm clueless as to why any female would do this to herself. You might look a million dollars now but when all that make up is off you're unrecognisable.

Its almost if its ok to use female as slang for women provided you like the poster (considering nobody calls KKkitty on the way she uses it)

Fair point but I disagree. The context of that sentence 'I'm female[...]any female' changes it a bit, and context of dont bother's series of posts changes a whole lot. It's straight off TRP and I just knew from what he'd been posting that he'd use it.

It's like if someone says 'You'd want to cop on boy' versus 'Alright boy, good to see you'. Same word, very different subtexts

actually, your side of the argument has been rubbish. you have proved nothing except that you have feminist tendencies.

some women look like sh!t, others look like clows, others look good.
you can "feel" whatever you want "about yourself" but at the end of the day nobody gives a sh!te - they MAY get a laugh to themselves about your RIDICULOUS appearance, and some people will feel sorry for you when they see how obvious your "mask" is....

Just to quote the original post that started this off:
    pone2012 wrote: »
I appear to have spotted a trend which has honestly got me baffledconfused.png

Lately, I've noticed more and more women seem to do their lipstick in a fashion that either makes them look like they've had an allergic reaction to peanuts, or they are trying to do their best impression of the Joker in The Dark Knight?

    Could anyone explain this, please??

It's been explained, but to recap, the explanation is one of the following:

    1. They think it looks good, or
    2. It makes them feel good, or
    3. It makes them appeal to people who share their aesthetic preferences.

That's it; there's the answer. There's nothing feminist about the answer-- or anything misogynist about the question itself, really, beyond the fact that the answer should be obvious: because they think it looks good. Why does anyone do anything? Either because they have to, or because they enjoy it. That's honestly the answer every time.

Many of the people commenting (myself included) might agree that this "look" is unflattering/unappealing/ugly/ridiculous. This opinion isn't what's making people angry. You're entitled to your feelings. Nobody cares.

What's making people angry (and show "feminist tendencies") are the subsequent posts which reveal a belief of you thinking this is a bad look should mean that other people need to stop doing it. That their reasons for doing it (to feel groomed, to look pretty, to appeal to people who appreciate this style) are insufficient in the face of your disapproval.

What's really unappealing and ugly here is the attempt to shame people into behaving in the manner you prefer by saying they will be laughed at and pitied for going out looking the way they prefer to look. It's a desperate attempt to force others into accepting your preferences and aesthetics, to discard their own wants to please you-- and when the impact it will have on your life either way is ultimately negligible.

That attitude, to me, shows more vanity and self-absorbsion than all the overdone make-up in the world and is infinitely more pitiable.

Aight. Time to get real. You ready? You ready to get real?
We don't get dressed up so men can look at us.
We get dressed up so as we can check our own reflections out in shop windows.

    I'm not.
