Who said she was pretty :)

    You did :p
Got to the 4 min mark on the last rep and a young wan hoped on the treadmill beside me, momentarily distracting me! Decided to keep going while simultaneously trying to ensure that my sweat slick wasn't drenching her. Happy that I ground it out and finished all 3 reps.

not a mention of young tang in sight!

Yesterday: plan called for another 3/5 mile easy double.

Very long journey via Chicago and Washington to eventually arrive in Dublin around 11am yesterday. Drove down to Galway and into work for a few hours. Was goosed so left early and crashed on the couch. By the time I woke the light was fading so I quickly got the year on and and headed out around a local loop that required me to cross a few fields. After crossing one field I noticed a sign beside the wall that said "Aire nimh ar an talamh", looked around for the bull, then my limited Irish kicked in and I realised it wasn't a "tarbh", couldn't see anything dangerous so I cracked on.

Got home and asked Mrs TbL "what's nimh mean"?, "poison", she replied, "why".

"Never mind" says I, "where's the wire brush I need to clean me runners!"

    5 miles easy @ 8.27

Today: plan called for a session but I changed it around so that I'd get this weeks planned "long run" of 12 miles done instead.

Did this on a local rolling route, took it nice and handy as although I didn't get up till midday I was still feeling pretty tired.

Cracking day in the west, ran from the house to Rossaveal port and back. Nice to see my easy pace dropping down on a tougher route than last week and off similar effort levels.

Got 13 miles done @ 7.59, happy with that tbh as the first 3 miles were slow.

Leaked a bit of planned easy miles this week but not overly concerned with that as the consistency is starting to come back and today was my 20th straight day running. Little milestones!!

Today: got the all clear from coach to drop the planned session and race a 5k instead.

Headed off about 10.30 for the 90 min trip to Ballinderry.

Should have stayed in bed, shocking race.

The minimum I'd expected was a sub 20 and to finish in 20.23 (a second slower than 2 weeks ago) is piss poor to be frank.

I've run a couple of 6.30 miles at the end of long runs on previous marathon cycles so I should be easily capable of going sub 20.

3 hour round trip for that toss, ffs!!!!

    6.12
    6.55
    6.30
    6.19 for the bit.

Need to try and think about where it went wrong.

the 3hour round trip wouldn't have helped.
The 6:12 1st mile is 14s too fast for a sub 20 attempt causing the 2nd mile to be too slow.
I reckon if your 1st mile was 6:30 you would have ran into it and had a better 2nd mile.

that said - its still a good tempo run - so its not a lost race.

(If only I could take my own advice)

Doesn't the 5k Series kicks off on tuesday??
I tried hitting 5k pace for .3 mile stretches today and I struggled even with full recovery ☺ It should be interesting when it does kick off... If I see you at any of them I'll keep you honest for first 2 miles and let you go then...

I'll motivate you with some quality b1tch talking about murph and tang and their mocking of you waddle ☺☺

    You'll get there C, you'll get there.....

I'm missing the first one as I'm away but hoping to do as many of them as I can. Hope you enjoyed Dingle.

Ps. Anyone got any pointers (idiot proof ones!) on how to insert my table in a post, don't want to be accused of having my ass wiped again?

To insert a table(well the way that works for me) is

line out your info as you want it in the table

    eg
    Day| Mileage| pace| etc
    Mon| 5m| 7.45| etc

and then highlight all the info and add the table tag from the menu above(its the 17th icon across the menu above(the 4 squared square)

    Day| Mileage| pace| etc
    Mon| 5m| 7.45| etc

If you cant work it out, stick the info into a post and i table it for you!!

Or, do the table in excel (you don't need lines or anything) copy, paste in between the two table fields and hey presto!

Today: I was due to be in Singapore this week but towards the end of last week I was told to cancel it and was summoned to London!

Had to be out of the scratcher at 4am to drive to Dublin for an early morning flight. Typically it had to be last night that the local mangey mongrel decided to spend half the night auditioning for the Canine Voice of Ireland and I got fook all sleep!

The plan today called for 4/5 mile easy double.

Obviously didn't get out this morning and when I got back to the hotel after work the temptation was to catch up on some kip but the lad I'm with runs a bit so we got the gear on a did 6 miles @ 8.35 over a hilly route.

    TbL

Ps thanks girls for the table tips, I'll give it a go when I get home

Sorry the 5k didn't go to plan - maybe you just need more practice racing them as they're very different to a marathon ??

Re the table. The simplest way might be just to quote my post. Remove the [\QUOTE] brackets but not the [\TABLE] brackets and edit the info as you like. Either that or just accept that you're technologically challenged and a geriatric old fart needs a Zimmer frame more than a table :D
