I don't to drag the thread any further off topic and so I'll just say this..

I get what you're saying about being a different animal now in some ways but I don not buy that it matters as much as you think that does, for many reasons. Sure, 2016 is not 2009 but that is a two sided coin in that MMA/UFC is now a hundred times more popular that it was back then and so the dilution argument doesn't stand up. Here are the UFC PPV numbers. Look how much McGregor's fights have done compared to most others (excluding the obvious of Jones, Ronda etc). There is simply no way that if a huge fight was held here at the 3 that it wouldn't sell equally was well.

Okay, the scheduling argument is not to be totally ignored but if it was held on a Saturday night here I don't see why it wouldn't be a huge Saturday afternoon PPV event in the states. Then there is the increase in European buy rates as the scheduling suits them. There is just no way that there would be that much of a loss. Capacity is a non issue as 15,000 is just 5,000 less than the MGM's capacity and finally I don't believe that Dana is just talking about being intent on seeing Conor fight here in the near future, nor more than Conor was when he said it.

I'll leave ye the last word on it.

Whatever happens, I just want to see the fight, no matter where the damn thing is held but sure, I would also love to see a big McGregor fight here too. Whether that's defending his belt or not I don't care.

The 3 Arena doesn't fit 15,000 for UFC events.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, it's not all about PPV sales and gate.

For such a big fight, the lack of media in Ireland is a serious downfall compared to Vegas. Promotion for the fight would have to be significantly downgraded.

It's just not possible to have such a big fight in Ireland again with McGregor included. Too much money in the table.

So if Sky, for example, where the next to buy the rights to UFC in Europe, you really can't see the money that would be made via them, offsetting any loss that would result from not hosting the fight in the states? That is nuts. If that were the case then boxing fights that have been held in the UK wouldn't sell well in the states but yet we know they always do and then some.

Jesus Christ, the fact is, is that isn't the case as it is now!!!

Have you got figures that boxing fights held in the UK have sold well on American PPV since you mentioned it because I can't think of any recently that have had any worldwide hype outside of maybe Europe.

Carl Froch vs George Groves (big hit in the UK) only grossed £500,000 in International rights.

"It's not true. We haven't talked to Conor or his manager since the press conference. I don't know why he would tweet that.

"All the media keeps asking me that. I feel like the scene in 'Step Brothers' when they ask if they can build the bunk beds.

"I don't know how many more times I can say the fight is off or how many more press conferences I can have saying the fight is off for people to believe it's off."

    From Dana.

Jones/DC 2 is the kind of fight that should be headlining 200 rather than a meaningless freak show fight.

A few days old but here are my thoughts on the McGregor situation and what it's really all about. I'm still about 50/50 on if it will happen, still 3 months away to calm down:

I think it should be an automatic ban if anybody else starts fight threads. He seems to be the only man that can do it right.

The only way Conor will beat Diaz in a rematch is if Paully starts the thread.

The last thread was such a disappointment. As was this one, so unnecessary having one so far out given the amount that can change.

Fight threads shouldn't be started until fight week IMO, all the other chat should go in the super threads.

Hopefully DC brought tissues to the presser he's about to lose it.

Generally I would agree but for big events like this, or new york, our events with a big irish connection, it's no harm to have like a ''build up'' thread as there would be a lot of posts that would just saturate the general thread.

But most definitely, have Paully start a dedicated fight thread as well in the week leading up to the event.

I know the time is a bit off but on YouTube now about 28000 people watching this press conference for the Biggest event since 100.

McGregor v Diaz had about 400-500k watching the first 5-10 minutes.

Can see this event having really low PPV numbers compared to what they expect
