It's clearly not though, so far real world tests have shown it's very sub par in low light conditions and if there is any movement in low light conditions it ends up as a blury mess.

The camera in the iPh6 or S6 are better in side by side tests so far.

The benchmark tests that rate it level with the S7 are clearly skewed like the VW emissions tests on a rolling road. In real world conditions they don't stack up. Hopefully HTC can improve it with software going forward.

Dxomark know what they're doing. Make no mistake, the hardware is top notch.

I'm going to just die of impatience waiting for shipping.

An example of 10 vs S7 low light:

10 clearly better here, so its definitely not a case that the 10 is poor in low light.

Honestly, at the end of the day it is a PHONE! You want a mega camera, buy a camera! I'm dead excited to get it though :)

True, I have a dslr, but I very rarely have it on me when I want to catch a moment. If you're going to spend €700 on a phone, you want to have a decent camera. It's one of the few things that sets a flagship apart from a midranger.

Hope very.co.uk get them soon after the release date. Want to wait til then to use the 20% off your first order code they have at the moment. Has anyone used their take 3 deal? Wondering is there any catches.

Been a while since I've bought a flagship device. Hopefully it'll do me 18-24 months without me getting tired of it!

Excuse me, but who decided that the HTC 10 one is better? To me it looks overexposed and kinda blurry.
I want to believe in the HTC 10 camera but this isn't a good example (in my opinion)!

In the pic above it looks like the 10 shows more detail in the background, while the S7 image appears darker. I would be happy with either to be honest. What I like about the 10 is the design, obvious build quality, and of course the headphone out / dac capabilities. Might be getting rid of my S7 soon.

It's only really to illustrate that the S7 isn't clearly better. If you look at 1:1 the 10 has a better quality image, but the S7 still looks better to most people due to their processing adding saturation and sharpness.

I do photography and my opinion on the two pictures is both have their merits, HTC def look's overblown but saying that it is also capturing more background detail and the S7 is dark, if I had to favour one it'd be the S7 as I don't like overblown pics.
But maybe diff circumstances would favour the other over the other bla bla...

I come from the same point of view, I do photography too and that's why I complained about HTC 10 exposure. But that's fixable through software or using the camera in manual mode.

Too many reviewers have jumped the gun and passed judgement on the basis of pre-release units running pre-release software. But HTC should have known better and expected that, review units should only have been furnished to them with an embargo on reviews until the software is release ready. I put it down to time pressure, trying to play catch up with Samsung and LG.

From The Journal's review of the 10:
The HTC 10 will cost €699 unlocked and will be available in Three from 5th May.

If my pre-order from HTC UK falls through, I can handle paying €700. Anything over that, and I'd refuse.

Amazing it costs €799 from HTC Ireland direct. How can third parties pass this on at a lower price unlocked and still make a profit. Makes no sense.

HTC are always overpriced when you buy from them directly. AFAIK, carriers make very little profit when you buy a phone outright from them, that's why they always prefer to give out phones on contract.

Really like the idea of not having to root to get super cid/ EMEA updates, Hoping the UK pre order doesn't fall though.

I also have a feeling pre orders will start shipping next week.

Well if HTC UK is 100 euro cheaper than HTC Ireland, and its cheaper to get the phone from Three, then I wonder could I get it cheaper direct from Three UK while I'm over there in a couple of weeks?

Possibly. Right now the 10 is on the 3UK website, but I can't see PAYG price. I paid like £430 for the M8 at 3 in Newry. Sometimes it works out a good price.

The M9 is £530 on the 3 website, so no real saving.

It should be noted that 3UK are only offering the silver/white front 10, as far as I can see.

Spigen have HTC 10 editions of their Slim Armor, Thin Fit and Rugged Armor for sale and seemingly in stock on amazon.co.uk. I'll hold fire for the Neo-Hybrid, I think - anyone here used one before on a different handset?

Thanks, ordered a couple. Have used the rugged armor on my S6 edge+, it's a good case

Yes. Had Neo Hybrid on a few phones. It is a great case with one weakness. The plastic shell that goes around the TPU will crack if you drop the phone. That's why I prefer the rugged armour. It won't break when dropped as it's tpu and it still gives good protection. The only minus on the rugged is the back does tend to pick up the oils from your fingers though and needs regular wiping. I have also had the slim and tough armours. I avoid them now because the back scratches easily.

Personally I rate the Otterbox Symmetry too. The back is pretty much scratch resistant and you can get them in a variety of colours now and it's very protective without being too bulky. A close 2nd for me would the UAG Scout (black version).

For almost no bulk the Spigen Liquid Crystal clear case is worth a punt. However it overs almost zero protection.

A lot of sources giving a release date of different days next week depending on where you are. Has anyone that pre-ordered with a card been charged yet?

You won't get charged until it ships, unless you paid with PayPal. My attitude is that if it isn't shipping by Monday, I'll probably just cancel then go into a 3 store and buy next Thursday.

Yea but if you buy it in 3 wont it be locked to their network and riddled with their **** adware?

Easily fixed with an unlock code and a reflash, given the unlocked bootloader.

I'm planning on going s-off, custom rom, modding, theming etc etc so that won't bother me. I'm with 3 anyway, and they don't put much on the device, nothing like what Vodafone does.

Laura on elevate said UK shipping for preorders is May 6th. If that's so, I reckon you'd be looking at close to a week later for preorders than going to a 3 store.
