Waffler. He lost to diaz cos he was tired from going to all the tv events threatening to behead him, and parade his head through the streets. He's no issue being on talk shows and that retarded reality show though.

Making his excuses in advance this time.

he'd want to win the net one. if diaz beats him again after all this................

He brought the whole promotion side of it on himself, now he doesnt wanna do it no more. He was the one who was doing all these things to get in the public eye, trash talking etc, now he seems to have enough. You cant have it both ways Conor, this is the bed you have made for yourself, sleep in it.

The UFC cant have it both ways either - they run these events and have their press conferences as normal and Conor was willing to do that. They did the mini tour with Aldo and had fighters flying half way across the world over 10 days to promote the event and doing multiple tv shows and getting little or no training in just non stop promotion for the UFC. Dana said they are going to spend 10m on this event, which suggest another similar schedule for a mini tour being shoe horned in to help promote the card. Conor has said he wants to focus on his training and not be running around doing all that stuff. He was willing to do the press conference that was agreed. The UFC wants fighters to be fit and not get injured, they want them to put on great fights..if that's the case then let them train and come in 100%. Tone back the promotional stuff, it was going to sell a load anyways guaranteed. The press conference Conor would have done his usual thing and hyped it up no end. There is an element of greed and wanting it every way from Dana and the UFC and Conor wasnt willing to just jump to it. Cant say I blame him on this occasion and it will change little or nothing. If he doesnt end up on 200 he will be fighting in New York as I said already and everything will just move on.

So this is UFCs "Saipan" then

    Dana Vs Conor.

I don't have the energy to form an opinion.

Of course he feels the need to shut the world out for this one. Nate beat him, the first person to beat him in a long time.

He's rightfully taking Nate very seriously. Nate has shown that he absolutely can beat Conor and Nate is going to have a full camp this time too. I'm a big fan of Conor but I reckon he's going to have a tough time in there against Nate (if he does get in there) even with a full, isolated camp like he wants.

    I agree 100%

There’s no way that McGregor doesn’t fight at UFC 200. He’s their golden boy, the man who will fight anyone at a moment’s notice and has made, as he claims $400million for the UFC over the last year. There’s no way Dana will jeopardize his cash machine.

Make no mistake, Dana wants and needs McGregor to beat Diaz at UFC200 and will do what he can to ensure that happens. So when McGregor wants to stay in camp rather than doing a press tour, he’ll get it, only Dana can’t make is seem obvious and can’t make it look like he’s giving his golden boy special treatment.

So what do they do? They come up with a story that ensures that there’s more coverage for UFC200 than any kind of press tour or TV advert could create. They point to McGregor retiring, they send out that tweet and they get the kind of prime-time coverage that money just can’t buy. It's not just the sports channels talking about UFC200 now, it's everywhere.

McGregor flying in to film a TV sport would never generate the kind of press that McGregor at war with Dana will.

McGregor v Diaz is a big story and it'll sell but nowhere near as big as McGregor v Dana.

As posted before, Conor was happy to do all the promo stuff in his 3 piece suits etc. Now when the UFC call the shots he throws his toys out of the pram.
Yes I'm sure the death of Carvalho had a profound effect on him but the UFC pay his wages and therefore you are under contract to do all the media obgligations.

Lets see how it all pans out with Whites response.

Oh BTW is it just me or does JK comes across as a dick with his tweets and other stuff.
You never see Greg Jackson, Dave Camarillo,Mark DellaGrotte et al coming out with the same sh1t.
They just get on with their jobs and train.

How does the desire to not do promotion tie with the Budweiser gig I wonder?

Oh I forgot, that was for this own pocket.

I don't remember him getting any stick for being on talk shows.

You have to do the promo's, whether you like them or not, so yes this is a bad decision.

There was criticism alright. It became a running joke on here iirc.

I don't think he has a problem with some promotion, it's the fact that he wants to win a fight against a guy who beat him.

Yeah but why does he have to do x10 the promo of everyone else bar Ronda?

Look what happened to her, she has essentially become a recluse since, I don't think you realise how draining it is.

The UFC have no idea how to manage their superstars, they essentially just burn them out and squeeze as much PPV's out of them as they can in the shortest amount of time and then cast them aside and move onto someone bigger and better.

Fair f*cks, someone needs to stand up to the UFC at some stage and I'm glad it's Conor.

Folks..please dont engage in the haters, trolls etc. There is no need to give your opinion on them either. Just report a post if its trolling and keep the discussion on topic. Engaging in it is only putting you in the firing line also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Who needs $10m for promotional purposes when you have Conor McGregor sitting behind a keyboard.

The guy generates so much praise/hate/intrigue etc that it's now impossible for the UFC to refuse him a spot on the 200 card.

The level of intrigue and interest in the fight and the spectacle as a whole of this event because of a tweet and a Facebook post is like nothing we've ever seen before. He may not even realise how much hype he's generating despite not flying to Vegas to answer questions.

Dana and the Ferttita's will be watching a lot of dollars go down the drain if they stick to their stance of removing him from the card.

If only other fighters on the UFC roster could see what Conor is trying to do, and get behind it. Instead their only thought is "Oh Dana, give me da fight, pwetty pweeeese".

I know I cantget my head around this, more than happy to **** on other fighters then cant understand why theyre all on 10 and 10 and getting screwed by the reebok deal

wasn't aldo standing up for fighters pay etc long before conor was?
I'm sure aldo was the problem child long before macgregor showed up?
