Why did he sign the contract to fight and then change the terms?

Knowing the Ufc they will probably strip him off his belt?

Wouldn't surprise me,anyone got any idea how many fights Conor had left on his contract i thought i remember hearing him say he signed a new one just before the Aldo fight.

Interesting that the official UFC twitter has phrased it as Dana pulling Connor from the card, which suggests this was pre-"retirement".

Me thinks a scandal is brewing.

It looks for real folks. Retirement in MMA means nothing though. That fighting itch is always there in any sport.

We'll if he's retired... what option do they have?

He wouldn't go the press conference at the weekend so Dana made the decision to pull him.

Seems like both parties doubled down and I guess you can't effectively negotiate unless you are willing to walk away.

Anyone think of what happened in TEF showed Conor something ? If now officially pulled from 200, spin threads and hashtags, is he not in prime position for the New York card ? East coast, Irish lad, name his price and use the time to cut the weight in a healthy way fight Frankie/Aldo and win/Loose and then maybe walk away with a fat check ?

What on earth is this? Bit hard to believe.

Looking forward to see the ppv sales without conor on the card, they will beg him to come back. Unless there is some underlying story that is not out yet.

Did your bet go ahead that he wouldn't fight in the next 12 months?

Why retire because they won't give you x amount of money?

    Now you get none.

    Makes no sense.

Wonder if Aldo will fight for the real title now,

I think everyone who follows it closely predicted a Dana bust up eventually they were both trying to milk each other for as much money as possible,If there is no scandal that comes out then money will be the issue here.

There's 2 sides to every story.

Given Dana White has said the above, that means we still have 2 sides yet to hear.

For UFC 200 I don't think it will have a huge bearing. It will still hit 1.5 million I'd imagine with a huge main event in place of him.

Any other event though would see a big hit.

Amanda Nunes and Miesha currently the main? good luck with that

Unless GSP is on the card that PPV won't come close to 1.5m buys. If Robbie Lawler and Woodley is the main event it'll do under 1m imo.

The one bit of good that might come out of this is Jones vs. DC 2 at 200, if DC is healthy by then. There will 100% be another huge fight added because of this, we just don't know what it is yet.

Really feel for Nate, he deserved another big payday. Hope they give him GSP now.

Strange reason to pull him since he breaks his back doing media most of the time.

UFC president Dana White announced Tuesday on ESPN's SportsCenter that McGregor has been pulled from the marquee card because he refused to attend a press conference this week in Las Vegas to promote it. The news comes on the heels from a cryptic tweet about retiring young from McGregor earlier Tuesday.
"Obviously we still have a good relationship with Conor," White said. "I respect Conor as a fighter and I like him as a person. But you can't decide not to show up to these things. You have to do it."

No chance DC is healthy in time unfortunately. Nate will get another opponent, Tony Ferguson makes sense IMO.

Such a bs excuse as well. Nick D missed loads of press stuff before and nothing ever drastic like this happened. Aw man. Gammy Irish bed time, gonna have a busy morning of getting to find out wtf is going on.

I would bet my life there is more to it than that, no way they'd pull him over a press conference considering what he brings to the company.

Weird. I wonder if he had some kind of crises of confidence. Hard to face into a big series of press conferences and continue his usual trash talk (which the ufc would demand) if he's no longer sure he can beat Diaz.

If true. Bigger slice of the pie, ppv when conor is on the card has jumped up. Dana/ufc is known for paying the fighters pennys for the amount they take in, May have something to do with it. Tis greed

Ah bollocks, didn't realise his injury was that bad. That's one for NYC in November at least though.

The retirement stuff is nonsense, the ufc just called his bluff.
