got ya. still seems like a bit of a raw deal. have you priced a golf for comparison?

Park Motors - where I bought the golf, said I should be getting 8k....?

Throughout all this, I'm still relying on my Dad for transport

why not advertise your own privately and get some extra money for it. Then do a No trade in deal for a new car?

Not sure if that i30 would be a great reseller either come change time in 2 years.

    Just for comparison, you'd get an Audi A3 1.2 TFSI 3 door 110 S-Tronic for around €30k

    Hi Mental Mickey,

If your Golf has been serviced and running well that's the main thing, what colour is it. The panels can be repaired, is there much damage inside the golf, marks and scratches etc. from your wheelchair, and how much damage does taking the hand controls out leave.
I know all this is going to cost the dealer some but it really sounds like you have taken the first price the dealer offered you, he must be hoping to hell you come back and "do the deal"

you need to get a better deal or sell the Golf privately.

    Hi there.

The Golf isn't running because I haven't decided whether I want to go with the deal I've been offered as of yet. It's sitting up in the dealers workshop waiting. It's a United Grey Golf 1.2l TSI auto. There is a bit of damage from the chair yes, mainly to the door sill on the driver's side and to the pocket of the passenger door from my wheelchair rubbing off it.

The hand controls can be taken out with minimal damage. I've contacted another dealer through a friend to see if I can get a better deal...?

I think the Audi's are quite low for getting in/out of.

More of a price comparison than anything, I don't know that the new one is lower.

I wouldn't pursue the Hyundai deal if I were you, it's just miles off where it should be.
Did the guy know it needed engine work, was that factored into the price, did he see the car?

That's what I'm beginning to think myself. I told him it needed engine work, also was honest re: bodywork too. He sent one of his employees up to take a look at it(he took a video of it), and that's the figure he came back with.

    Might go look at Toyotas....?

they don't do a 3 door auris though. I dont think they have anything for you :(
maybe have a look at the Kia pro ceed too. might be worth giving hyundai guy more info on what's wrong with the golf and how much it's costing to put right and that park motors offered you 8k against a golf. even if they didn't.

A vw beetle might do the trick. I know the old (not that old!) model would have as it had a high roof and space between the seats. not certain about the new one. You can get them in petrol and diesel with the DSG box. Petrol would be around €28k.

Dunno if they do an automatic ford b max, but the pillarless door arrangement might be great for you.

Seat Leon sc 3 door would be worth a look too, it's based on the new Golf. They do the DSG box in that too.

    Hi all

Disappointing day today :-(. Went looking at an Astra. Opel discontinued the 3 door auto. Also looked at a KIA Ceed. They don't do 3 door autos either.....?

    Any other suggestions?

Had a peek at the Sirocco. Definitely too low to get in & out of. They do have a Golf Type R though. Lovely car

    Seat Leon SC anybody?

I would imagine a Leon would be as low as a scirocco

I would second a Beetle though.

The time my car got crashed into and I needed a change I did a bit of looking around.
The Leon was definitely lower than my Octavia.
The Golf was about the same as my own.
While in the VW dealers I sat into a Beetle they had in stock
I was quite surprised at how roomy and comfy the beelte felt.

I was tempted to buy one.
I still look at them as an option.
I have a funny feeling I heard there is a new ( facelift ) model due so might get a good deal at the moment.

the new beetle isn't girly. similar enough shape to a Porsche. funky interior, whats not to like

anyway. as long as you like it, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

Beetle ain't gonna work. F@&k all boot space. Need a bit of boot space to put my chair into if I have a passenger!? Sometimes family members may travel with me...

    So, what I need is:

    1. Auto
    2. 3-door
    3. Preferably no centre armrest/console
    4. Decent amount of boot space for wheelchair

The boot on the new one is a lot better than the old model beetle, but it it won't work it won't work :)

Did you look at the A3?
