7-6 to Connacht in the 79th minute and Leinster have a 5 metre scrum in the Connacht half.

Connacht defence stood up to the Leinster onslaught

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,153 ✭✭✭jacool

2 minutes left, watch Heaslip off the scrum. No-one wants to concede a penalty now!

Leinster front row better stand up here

Made far easier by knowing what's coming. So predictable.

Wouldn't begrudge Connacht the win here, they've been the better team but you just know there's a Leinster try coming.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,231 ✭✭✭A-Train

Come Nige, Leinster on top in the scrum, Leinster need to be smart here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,404 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    This is cowardly.

Have balls Leinster. Commit and go wide.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,427 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Owens isn't going to call a pen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,427 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

    Eat **** and die, Ryan.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,231 ✭✭✭A-Train

Ah a farce to some up some really stupid Leinster play today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,792 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

    Owens bottled that

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,521 ✭✭✭✭mansize

    Woohoo! Great turnover

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,623 ✭✭✭eigrod

Think that scrum went down on the TJ side - either he didn't call it or Owens ignored him. Looked like a Leinster pen.

    FT 7-6

Well I'm disappointed as a Leinster fan, but Connacht thoroughly deserved that win. Well done guys!

Connacht deserved that. Heroic stuff from them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,406 ✭✭✭Korat

Well done Connacht they deserved that win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

Just awful by Leinster. Isn't there anyone on the pitch who can attempt a drop goal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,070 ✭✭✭pjmn

Brilliant - well held out Connacht

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

Nigel Owens absolutely bottled that, but still congratulations to Connacht. These two teams would make for a great final.

    Nice win Connacht.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 360 ✭✭Humour Me

Well done Connaught, completely deserved the win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,268 ✭✭✭crisco10

Not a great match really. Connacht defo miles better than leinster but they only got one score from a bounce of the ball.

Leinster couldn't kick and lots of one out runners.

    Seriously meh game.

they got into perfect position for this. 8 metres on bang in front just should have had madigan in the pocket for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,507 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

Load of bo***x, Leinster had 2 or 3 chances for a handy drop goal there. Madigan should have called that on himself any day. Chronic lack of leadership when it mattered.

Fair play to Connacht, deserved winners.

Anyone notice Aki taunting Ryan after the final whistle? Awful sportsmanship

The way Madigan was playing, probably not.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,231 ✭✭✭A-Train

Dom Ryan was moaning about not getting game time, they should let him go after the match, terrible same with Madigan! Completely clueless and rudderless once again! Luke McGraths worst match in the a long time! Also Owens bottling it at the end, he was never going to give Leinster a penalty.

Sitting in a hotel room in NZ following the match on Twitter and boards. Nerve wracking stuff! Great stuff Connacht!!!

Five minutes of bonehead play at the finish. Drop a bloody goal and be done with it. Serves them right.

Fair play to Connaught - cohesive and great spirit. Nobody will fancy their visits to Galway in the European Cup next season.

Great win for Connacht; they were the better side out there today.

You would wonder if days like today would make Henshaw question his decision to leave.

Leinster must regret not trying for a DG

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,404 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

The phase of play before the scrum was where we lost it in the end. Had them on the ropes and insisted on safe pick and gos rather than using the space out wide.

Then tried to rely on the ref to give a penalty at the scrum at the end.

Fair play Connacht. The braver team won.

Can't believe madigan didn't take the dropper. Leinster got white line fever.

    Jesus, is that Leinster?

You mean when we brought possession from outside their 22 up to the try line and had the ball held up over the line? Yes, of course!

    :pac:

Leinster will take this though if we get half of our firsts back we'll be comfortable against Connacht.

I stand erected and corrected. Uber kudos to Connacht. I put a hat on purely to tip it to you all.

    From a rugby perspective, maybe.

From an income perspective, no. I'm certain there are more endorsement and advertising opportunities available by being a Leinster player.

Not a particularly good game but better team won.

As a Leinster fan, little sore at the final two scrums where Loughney completely went to ground under pressure. However, the game should have been won before that.

Madigan has no business as an outhalf at a high level. All to play for in final weeks now and nobody aside from Connacht are guaranteed their play off spot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,308 ✭✭✭✭.ak

Congratulations Connacht. Deserved winners. Played like champions today.

Our halfbacks were the undoing though. McGrath and Madigan were pure muck, and showed why they'll never really push for a starting spot in a top tier team.

Fantastic, total defense there at the end. Well done lads!
