Easter weekends

2015 (3rd - 6th April)
Good Friday: Mostly dry but cool and relatively sunny in a few parts.
Holy Saturday: Mostly dry and relatively sunny but quite mild.
Easter Sunday: Dry, sunny and mild generally.
Easter Monday: Dry, sunny and mild.

2014 (18th - 21st April)
Good Friday: Very sunny in places, warm and dry.
Holy Saturday: Very sunny in places, warm and dry again.
Easter Sunday: Mostly dry at first with large sunny intervals and warm but wet in the east at the end of the day.
Easter Monday: Mostly sunny, dry and warm.

2013 (March 29th - April 1st)
Good Friday: Mostly sunny and dry but very cold.
Holy Saturday: Sunny, cold and dry.
Easter Sunday: Coldest Easter on record. Mostly sunny but wet in the south at first.
Easter Monday: Very sunny and dry but freezing cold - the coldest April day for many years.

2012 (6th - 9th April)
Good Friday: Cloudy and mild with drizzle.
Holy Saturday: Cloudy and mild with drizzle.
Easter Sunday: Quite wet, mild and dull.
Easter Monday: Very wet start, much cooler after that with sunshine and showers.

2015 (2nd - 4th May)
Saturday: Extremely wet and unseasonably cold.
Sunday: Very showery, mild with some sunny spells.
Monday: Dry, sunny and mild. (One of the few good days of May 2015)

2014 (3rd - 5th May)
Saturday: Cloudy and mild with drizzle in places.
Sunday: Nearly sunless everywhere. Quite wet in the west and cooler than Saturday.
Monday: Mostly wet and cool.

2013 (4th - 6th May)
Saturday: Mostly sunny and mild with rain in the morning. Rain spread into the southern half overnight.
Sunday: Mostly dull but sunny in some eastern places with rain elsewhere but mild everywhere.
Monday: Mostly dull again but sunny in some eastern places with rain elsewhere and warm for early May.

2012 (5th - 7th May)
Saturday: Very cool with sunny intervals and a few scattered showers.
Sunday: Very cool and sunny. Rain overnight.

Well I wouldn't say "beautifully" dry days. There have been a lot better dry spells than the one just gone.

How is this a Yellow Warning with mean speeds 25 to 40 and gusts to 60km/h? Yellow is mean 50 to 65 with gusts 90 to 110km/h according to Met Eireanns warning criteria.

That seems quite peculiar alright

Likely a mistake on the Met Eireann side.

Yeah the last time the May weekend was brilliant was way back in 2011.

Saturday: Sunny, warm and dry.
Sunday: Very sunny, warm and dry except in the south.
Monday: Very sunny, warm and dry except in the south where it was soaking. (It was the warmest day of May 2011)

Hopefully 2016 can break this streak of bad May bank holiday weekends.

See the big difference of maximum temperatures between 2011 and 2012 at the same weekend

Apart from maybe last Spring, I have never suffered through conditions like today's in Spring. Clonmel1000 is bang on, it is atrocious. This maybe Ireland but this is Spring we're in? It feels more like Winter. One hour it was drenching rainfall, I recorded over 15.2mm in that hour (though it felt like 30mm). Max. temperature has only been 8.1c - average daytime temperature for January, not March, especially not later March!

I am surprised this isn't a named storm as I think it should classify as one.

Quite a temperature drop at Dublin Airport!
16:30 - 9c
17:00 - 4c.

Drove from Killarney to Kenmare earlier, surprised to be greeted by snowcapped mountains and showers of sleet and snow. Sunny now in West Cork, besides that a horrific day, but nothing so terribly out of the ordinary. We can and do get this sort of weather at any time of the year. As well its only one day, of course its quite disappointing to some, but hey it's our climate isn't it?

Criteria for a named storm is orange level warnings, has the wind criteria been met? (Gusts of 110-130km/h)
