Dana White saying they were offered and them being offered are 2 completely different things.

Frankie had informed the UFC of an injury prior to RDA pulling, Aldo I presume was only back in training he would prob have 2 months no contact following KO.

Diaz or Cowboy were the options here and Nate got the winning ticket.

They really ****ed up not sacrificing cowboy instead of putting Nate in there,Cowboy would've cracked under the pressure and got finished.

They picked Nate cause they prob thought it was the easiest fight. Agree with the above!

True that.....but then he'd have the fall back excuse of a fight a few weeks previous, they all have a ready made excuse ....McGregor didn't offer one when he lost

I just want to see him have a full fight camp against an opponent with a full fight camp, non of this switching opponent bull**** then we see what's what ....preparing for 1 man then facing another can never be the same no matter what he says about his preparation

Magic Mac walks around a corner and suddenly has a different haircut :pac:

    http://www.punditarena.com/mmaufc/sraftery/irish-national-broadcaster-bans-conor-mcgregor-beer-advertisement/
The Irish national broadcaster, Raidió Teilifís Éireann(RTÉ), has made the decision to ban a new Budweiser advertisement starring UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
Seemingly inspired by the Dublin native’s amazing journey from unemployment to mega-riches and super-stardom, the ad is filled with the sort of motivational and philosophical musings for which McGregor has become famous. He strides through the streets of his hometown, before transitioning to the sunshine of California, all the while reminding viewers not to give up on their dreams.
It’s not the actual content of the campaign that has caused RTÉ to impose the ban, however. Rather it is McGregor’s involvement.
According to the The Sunday Business Post(via the Irish Independent), the concern is that “The Notorious” one’s popularity among the country’s youth is such that his involvement in the advertisement could make alcohol more appealing to younger demographics. The TV spot also goes against guidelines which prohibit the enlisting of “heroes of the young” to market alcohol.
The ad campaign, which promotes the company’s ‘Dream Big’ competition was launched only days after McGregor suffered his first UFC defeat to Nate Diaz at UFC 196. The SBG fighter was forced to submit to a rear-naked choke in the second round of a welterweight contest, but it is looking increasingly likely that he will get a chance to avenge that loss in July at UFC 200.

I've stopped taking anything RTE say seriously since they left Republic of Telly on the air. Biggest shower of muppets in Dublin and that's an incredible achievement.

you're probably right but I don't think their policy against "heros to our young" advertising alcohol is a bad idea. I wonder if it wasx Guiness or Jamesons instead of Bud would it have been different? :D

It's stupid and I think it has more to do with the fact that himself and RTE have been at odds since the documentary they made. I think Kavanagh said he'd never work with them again.

Speaking of documentaries I notice the crew still following him,he must be bringing out a dvd soon since covering the mendes and Aldo fights surely.

Haven't heard much about it but something was in the works. Think he said it would shed light on things like why the Mendes cut was so tough and what he had to go through to make weight.

to be fair, and I f*cking hate RTE! or anyone that gives tubs and the ever disparate ray darcy a platform from which to speak.
However they are coming down hard even on the advertising of drinks through rugby etc so i wouldn't read into it too much.

jesus if anyone watched the UFC last night as a first time viewer they'd never turn it on again, terrible altogether it was.. WTF!!! Mir goes down and looks up like a child with a dirty nappy!!! also lombard was finished in the 2nd without question and was allowed to be reigned on and pummeled fro over a minute?? jesus, terrible viewing.

JK said Conor wouldn't work with them again. I'd say it's to do with money

That sounds a bit fishy as if there's anything RTE are good at it's paying people money!

There'd also have been a contract in place too

So much hypocrisy from so called fans in this and other threads relating to McGregor.

For the longest time we have been bemoaning the fact that the ufc has been taking advantage of fighters on all levels of the game, paying them peanuts and exploiting them.

But now we have a guy who is calling his own shots and has the star power that could hold the whole promotion to ransom and people are still complaining. The ufc created the conditions under the which the McGregor phenomenon is thriving. Conor is just a business man making the most of his time in the sun.

It's just unfortunate that he is making his mark at the cost of other fighters but for only the third or fourth time in this promotions history we are seeing a global megastar get the fame and fortune he deserves. He's blazing a trail that others will follow.

Fúck the titles and the title fights. I hope he keeps on chasing bank and making money for as long as he can by taking the fights that will pay him the most.

Gotta love the sheer arrogance of that. Hits it three times in a row and Nate has no answer for it.

He leans so heavily on it, Conor has to attack it if he's to get the win. Pure arrogance saw him go for the knockout against Diaz, fear of the 155 title shot moving out of sight should see him implement a less brain-dead strategy.

Literally the only TKO Diaz has suffered was from a kick to the head against Thomson which clearly rocked him and he couldn't properly defend himself on the ground from the strikes that followed it. I don't see Conor's punches fazing him, and Conor hits hard.

If Conor bided his time and slowed Diaz' movement down (possibly by attacking his legs), he'd find landing clean much easier, and Diaz would go down.

It's not true to say Diaz could keep walking through clean punches from Conor; it was clear in round 1 that Diaz got hurt a couple of times, but he was able to cover up and recover. If Conor hadn't been so impatient we could have seen a different ending, but in fairness to Diaz he was able to capitalise on the night and was the better and much smarter fighter.

If he turns up in the same shape as last time hes getting finished again,I notice from a lot of the sbg guys in the ufc Ive not really seen any of them with amazing cardio, heart yes but Cardio not really even Gunnar Nelson doesnt cut much weight hasnt a great tank hes on his toes karate style for a round then its much more flat footed movement,

Im no expert so my opinion is worth little but I suspect they dont do as much road work as other teams.

Conditioning wise I feel that SBG gear their fighters towards explosive style cardio training like circuit sprints.

That's all well and good for exploding in bursts but you ask any boxer where they get their gas tank from and it's from the miles they put in distance running.

On the first point. I sort of get where you are coming from. I really wish it wasn't such a monopoly. I remember when Pride was going and respected. A fighter could sign for that company and would have another option or bargaining chip if you like. Now it’s the only show in town (big one anyway)

On the second point, I think the UFC loses a lot of credibility if it doesn’t have rules about how often a title must be defended. The titles should mean something.

You have an obsession with McGregor. Sounds like you love McGregor more than UFC.

It's appalling carry on that White is doing right now. Absolute joke.

Why do you care how much money McGregor makes. You actually say "fúck the titles and title fights". What sort of crap is that? That's the whole point of fighting, or it's supposed to be, to win titles.

McGregor has his money made, must have 10-15 million at this stage...more money won't change his quality of life from what it is now so why not give the people what they want.

Surely anyone with a bit of speed could use a knee to the face or a hook to the face. He’s leaning so far in with his head exposed.
