according to PROC the team to face KK is

    Collins
    Burke Cahalane Mackie
    Lorcan Joyce SON
    Haughney John Cronin
    Lawton Lehane Cooper
    LOF Harnedy Hoggy

I hope its not as that team does not inspire any confidence . Calahane is playing his best hurling on the week and was shown up time again as not being a FB. MacDonnell and SON have been in very poor form. Surley Murphy deserved a start after holding his own last week in Dublin. Why cant Leahy get another chance to prove himself given that we have nothing to lose? we know exactly what all six forwards are capable of. Is the idea to drop Lawton as a sweeper play Lehane Harndey and Cooper on the 40 and Horgan and O Farrell inside? We have seen this set up before so nothing new being chanced by management. Haugney and John Cronin mid field. Inexperienced but at least they might offer something different.
If this is the team I wont be expecting any major upsets down the Pairc.

You'd imagine that alright.no point having Joyce in the Center when he will be FB come the summer. Best of luck to the lads. Hopefully they can pull off an upset.

Lorcán is way too small to be playing the halfback line imo. Joyce v poor so far at fullback. Cahalane the form player. Has that bit of cutting for 3

Great effort, heart, hassling, blocking, Harnedy was boss, lots of positives but that fúck up at the end was a complete brain fart!!!

Played well all game in fairness good display but too many **** ups in the last 5 minutes.. sickening

A huge positive that Cork showed some real agression & bottle for the first time in many a game. Really hassled & harried which was good.

Mistakes & a couple of questionable referee calls at the end cost us the points though. Cooper's 2 wides, and Horgan missing a couple of frees, and the Collins' rush of blood with that puck were huge in the end. Definitely a foul on Harnedy too at the end.

give the kid a break, nobody more disappointed than himself. he's only young, **** happens. he had a fine game otherwise and should be kept for the next game

Harnedy is different class to anyone else in Cork, Luke O'Farrell had his best game for Cork tonight.

next step is to build on tonight, bring that intensity to every game

Fine game yes, but an under 12 wouldn't make that blunder.

Was just about to post the same about Collins. His distribution all night was brilliant. Mistakes like that happen, even to the best lads. Should be kept for the next game 100%.

Very proud of the lads after last night. We were the better team except for the first 5 and last 5 min of the second half. I wouldn't be to hard on Collins we would still be in play off with a draw so performance was way more important than result.

I have been hoggys biggest defender for a long time but he was not on it last night. I said it during the first half his misses would cost us. His foul for yellow card was less then the on he got sent off for in Munster final. He looked very angry he was hitting his tighs with ever wide.

The real difference between the teams is our inability to tackle. We stood up well at full back and didn't look like letting in a goal but mc Donald gets turned so easy. They scored 10 frees to our 5. Every time we crowded them we gave away a free. Apparently the frontal charge has been legalised. So we need to learn how to tackle with physicality without putting our arms around the opponents
    Necks.

In the middle copper had a great game needs to work on his distribution though he looks like he was in the gym all winter. For me it cooper and Walsh in midfield for champion ship we have been beaten up the last few years and need a bit of steel in there.

What can you say about harnedy, he is cork captain all day long. Lehane and Luke have great awareness of were each other are. If Luke could add a few more score to his game he plays every game IMO. Roll on play off feeling a lot better than this time last week.

We had two midfielders who were excellent last night and you want to drop both for Aidan Walsh, whose form has been ****e for two years now, and Bill Cooper who has always been at his best as a roaming half forward?

Good point but I would drop haughty for walsh and play john Cronin Half forward. My thinking was if he his thinking of playing Kearney in the middle he is to light and cooper is just as good a work horse.

Whatever about the result it was a joy to see cork with a change in brand of hurling. Direct, in your face, intense and down the centre and less of the short passing game. Hope more teams follow suit.

Slightly off hurling topic for a sec....

Why was there not a double header with both hurlers & footballers at home this weekend?

A two matches for the price of one special would have been a nice gesture by the CB and could have attracted a bigger crowd & give the fans pockets a little break!

    Just saying.....

    Almost certainly because of Monaghan.

Why would you start Walsh ahead of either Lawton or Haughney though? Walsh's form has been putrid since we won Munster 2014.

I was very unsure of Lawton in the past but to be fair since he's got on the team in the summer he's been one of the most consistent performers. Well worth a start.

Much better weekend all round. Footballers could yet end up in QF. A win against Down will assure Div 1 status.

Thank God the hurlers put up a performance. I thought Collins was great, that mistake was a freak and I hope he forgets about it quickly.

Ah go easy on the chap lads. Nobody feels worse than he does himself. Thought he was outstanding on the night. His accuracy and distribution was top class. He'd be my no 1 going forward.
In lots of respects the result on Sat was irrelevant. We wanted a performance and we got it.
The big question now is can we follow up with another good outing on Sunday v Tipp If we do, there's hope. If we don't it's a case of one step forward and two backwards.

what do people think that we are physically bigger this season? i didnt think kilkenny bullied us the last night and our forwards definitely were much hungrier in the tackle than previously.

We defo are bigger this year cooper looked like the Incredible Hulk, I though Burke was Shane o n for first 20 min, Joyce fit and hurling under him will be like a new player. As much as I like Kearney and think he has been one of our better players the past few years he is to light for modern inter county (midfield) hurling. Cahahlan might not be a gifted wristie hurler but has the physicality to become a decent defender he got slated in the past and deserves praise for his performance lately. I really believe we are in a better position then a lot of people give us credit for. Given a bit of time this management could put the fire back into cork hurling.
