Sub cost us the match v KK. Weakened the side.

have to have a panel as bound to get injuries. I think a couple of errors beat us opposed to the subs. Cooper missing, joyce swinging wildly and collin's error at the death.

Agree re we need a panel. But funny thing on Sat night was that a lot of the starting 15 did very well and very few if any did badly. Cronin only OK on the night imo but that means he's def worth another look. Others mightn't agree with me but I thought Cooper didn't really feature in the game. Haughney in and out of in it a bit I thought. Our midfield did go a little awol in that period before and after h/t.
But overall a positive performance where everybody was really up for it and it showed. Need to build on it next Sunday with another good display.

will be interesting to see how management approach this weekend. would like us to build on last Saturdays display but do we want to avoid showing our hand to Tipp before championship?

I don't believe in this show our hand rubbish, Do we really have a secret plan that we don't use in league? FFS go out and win every match and build confidence. We will learn as much off them as they might learn from us.

Same thing was said last year against Waterford and they beat us in league and championship, it's rubbish coaches will 100% be going for the win.

Shhh don't share the secret Cork plan of playing Harnedy plus 14 other random hurlers.

Cork for their own confidence need to show that last Sat wasn't a one off. A win on Sunday is irrelevant if the performance is good enough.
Kingston will probably try to strike a balance between putting out a strong team while giving some of the newbies an opportunity. Surely for example Stephen Murphy deserves 70 mins.

Agree with new lad Cronin. Cooper is a Junior B player, and lost us the match with his miss at the end.

Right now, Patrick Horgan is the biggest problem in the forwards. We are getting nowhere near what we need from him from play.

So same team as last week with exception of Conor Sull in for injured Cahalane.
Kingston obviously looking for a repeat performance and resisted introducing new blood.
Going to be an interesting game. Tipp have to win and Cork by putting out same team as last were are saying we can play like that every game.
    Can we?
Cork/Tipp league games in the last few years have been extremly open, high scoring games which lacked any meaningful physicality.
I expect a completely different type of game tomorrow. First big test for Mick Ryan and he'll want to show the home support that they're contenders.
A win not important for Cork but a performance vital to build confidence.

Destroyed again. Cork hurling is in a very bad way.

just watching it now, our passing and touch are awful for this level. making things twice as hard as it should be

We are in a dark dark place at de moment. Our minor & U 21 performances are very important this year. We can forget about de Seniors this year and prob next year too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 347 ✭✭commonsense.

What a waste of time that was. Cork just trotting around the place and Tipp winning it at their ease. As per my previous post I thought Cork would look to put in a big performance and build on last week. But for whatever reason they decided against it. Because if that's the best Cork can do we are in worse trouble than I thought.
I think Cork flattered to deceive against Kilkenny. And we are not as bad as today might suggest. Where exactly we are is hard to say after those 5 league games but it's hard to be overly optimistic.

Was at game today expected a good performance after last week what we got was very poor from cork no heart/desire lost 80% of ruck ball worse tipp had a high wide count as well. Difficult to see any positives from today full back line struggled Joyce was not commanding as last week midfield overran Half forward line struggled and so on. Would not blame Hoggie today there was much worse than him where do we go from here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 214 ✭✭Pos087

Hard to find any positives from today. The standard was junior at best. Basic skills of touch and picking the ball were seriously lacking. If it wasn't for all tips wides it could of been a lot lot worse. The space the tipp players had was shocking. The game plan of playing one up front does not work for us with out harnedy we have no ball winners and played right into there hands by playing defensive. This plan need to go in the bin and start again. The worst bit for me about the league is we brought through no news players. Cashman needed game time and new players need to be found.

Ok, we've played 5 and lost, we don't even deserve a relegation playoff, we should just be relegated.

    Beyond pathetic.
I think it's fair to say we deserve relegation!
Some of the players really are not putting in enough effort.

There is a toss today for home venue for the play-off. Does anyone know what time this toss is happening?

The way things are going I can't even see us winning the toss.

"It has been confirmed that, following a coin toss, Galway will host Cork in the Allianz Hurling League Division 1A relegation playoff, scheduled for the weekend of April 3rd.

Time and venue will be confirmed later by the CCCC."

We might of won the toss but opted to play in Galway as we don't wanna show our hand too early!

Galway will be desperate for a home win here. Cork deserve to go straight down after losing all 5 games. If we do win the play off it will once again be used to cover up the all too familiar failings.

You don't need to concern yourself with that

I dont think anyone is under any illusion ( Officers of CCB excepted) - esp management that its going to a long road to rebuild Cork hurling

That said I think Cork will have a right rattle off Galway in relegation battle - Cork - surely - wont be as bad again as the 1st league game and effectively its a championship match

I expect us to play as we did against KK and theres every chance we will win

Again I think if we do, no one ( CCB excepted) will think 'we're back'
Hopefully we can be competitive against Tipp in May, and get a run in qualifiers afterwards

In relation to manangement I am disappointed that the opportunity to blood more players wasnt used during league - unfortunately some of those guys on panel need to be retired - the points been made before - bring in Leahy, Murphy, Cashman, Cormack, Cronin etc and give them a chance to break into team - cant be doing a whole lot for their confidence to be sitting on bench watching a team they cant break into being beaten week after week

Paudie & Moylan need to go, and despite some contribution this year I think Cronin & SON need to step aside also
