    That's 5/8 games without scoring.

There was no one better than Giroud or Walcott available though...

Tie as good as over now. The two goals were completely avoidable, what were we doing so high up the pitch for the first goal. Was no need for us to push forward that much. The second goal a complete mess up by Mert and Flamini. I thought the substitutions were strange, though Welbeck would have come on for the Ox and really don't understand why Flamini was brought on.

Flamini is beyond finished but yet he still gets game time, ridiculous. Beat Man Utd on Sunday though and it will feel a lot better though.

Some amount of braindead players still at the club. Welbeck has been as good as he can be since he came on, though it'd be hard to have some kind of improvement on what Giroud served up. Ramsey with his usual "nearly" stuff all game. Flamini finished. Mertesacker left the one way he shouldn't be left for the first goal, brainfart for the second. Oxlade-Chamberlain can go whenever he likes.

Call it knee-jerk, there's nothing I haven't said before and I'll stand over any of it.

For me Monreal was at fault for the first goal. Bellerin was already closing down Suarez, so Monreal should have enough experience to have a look around, make sure no other players can get involved and if it comes to it let Suarez go one on one with Cech. Instead, both he and Bellerin went for the same player, whereas if one of them had dropped to the center, the pass would never have been on.

Flamini should be nowhere near any team in the last 16 of the Champions League let alone coming up against the European Champions

Other than that 1-0 would have been a fair result we did play really well tonight despite the negative bollocks thats going on in here as usual

How many times have Arsenal fans said this! Yet he keeps coming back and proving us........right!

That was absolutely depressing. We'd a number of chances in the first half and continued to try to literally walk it into the net...went hoarse screaming have a shot at the tv. Then we were blessed that Suarez didn't score the header just before half time like he should have. Begin the second half poorly but get back into it, get caught on the counter...and then later Per decides to set Messi up with an assist. I'm raging. I'm not certain why. I should be used to us choking on the big stage at this point!

Ramsey was the worst player on the pitch for me, continuously gave the ball away and played passes that were never on in a million years. Per was poor as usual, yet is still our captain for some reason?! Then Flamini comes on and does what he does best...makes a woeful attempt at a tackle that was never on.

Sickened because I thought we actually stood a chance against them tonight, combine that with the fact I came out of my drugged up flu coma to watch it and also the nature of our loss getting caught on the counter twice.

Fully expected Barcelona to win tonight.

Just annoyed at some stupid decisions/situations the Arsenal players allowed.

Dont think Coquelin is the way forward if we eventually want to compete at the very top of the game. So limited.

You mean Neymar? It was Neymar who squared for Messi, not Suarez.

Monreal had to close down Neymar, he was ahead of Bellerin and was the man with the ball, absolutely Monreal had to commit

We could've been 2-0 up except we can't score. Giroud actually done ok with his hold up play then he demonstrated why he will never be considered world class, by taking the ball from the sky like a God, then laying it off to no one like a clown. Having your loan CF out at the corner flag trying to cross in the ball is the most stupid thing I've ever seen. Who did he think he was crossing it into?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,763 ✭✭✭farna_boy

It wasnt a purple patch hes a better player than either of those two.

But you got that right ... we have a bench that can make things happen.. Flamini !!

like i said Wenger got it wrong again tonight.
Wenger is out of his depth against the big boys in Europe.
Wenger ignores too many failings in his own team
Wenger doesnt react soon enough on the night.
Wenger doesn know what are the right changes to make either.

**** off. If Flamini had made contact with the ball instead of completely missing it, it would have been a 1-0 game, and still everything to play for.

It's funny how you only ever turn up after losses to stick the knife in further and get everyone wound up more.

Seriosuly, **** off with that **** tonight. Not in the mood, it was Barcelona

That Ox chance is the first half is annoying me since, just another example of him not progressing and not having the brain for this level. I'll be pissed off if he gets a new contract and fat pay rise in the summer because he done nothing to deserve it. Overall, can't criticise the team too much...did well for 70 but then a combination of our usual fcuk ups plus Messi's briiliance was our undoing. Roll on Sunday.

I think he has a place in the squad and games that will suit but I agree for a large proportion of games we need a stronger ball carrier and a player who can distribute

Coquelin did fúck all wrong tonight, criticism for the sake of criticism.

How disapointing was that. We had great chances to score, but as usual too much tippy tappy sh1t around the box, why the hell was Giroud attempting to pass that last chance to Theo instead of smashing it?
Ox managed to himself when we had a great chance to score, Sanchez tried all night but is hopeless at retaining possesion. Walcott contributed squat, absolutely nothing, id love to know how many times he even touched the ball.
Welbeck to be fair made some sort of impact when introduced, at least you knew he was on the field.
Im sure everyone was equally confused at seeing Flamini come in but in fairness what was Mert at
Only for Cech that could have easily been 5-0. We'll get an awful dusting at the nou camp

The break away should have been stopped by Kos, should have clattered Suarez on the line with his back to goal and taken the yellow

People have to be realistic Barcelona are the best team in club football by a mile. We were capable of getting more out of the game but there forward 3 is just insane. We are a level below them and that showed tonight.

Barcelona being a great side has ****e todo with it ..
Mert cant clear a ball in the 6 yard box,
Flamini tries a garryowen using Messi as the ball, when in fact Flamini should never have been put on the pitch.
Ox cant score in a brothel
    Giroud was jaded
    We had no options
those ar ethe reasons we lost, nothing todo with Barcas greatness, and the list goes on...

We didnt lose that match cos Barcelona were amazing
we lost it cos Wenger is always losing this type of game, the teams he creates, the passengers he carries in the team, his tactics and the adaptation he makes during the game are just a few of the reasons.

If you want someone to beat Mark Hughes, Pardew, Pulis, Big Sam, etc week in week out Arsene is your man.
If you want someone to compete at the elite table of European style, panache, clinical, thinking football, Wenger is just not up to it.

Arsenal loss is like moths to a flame on this thread.

Winning on Sunday is much more important.

Fair enough got them mixed up, but still disagree.

Cech is world class, let Neymar take the shot and trust your keeper to save it. It's something that was taught to me as a defender as a schoolboy. The keeper can come out and close the angle to the player with the ball but when he does that he is vulnerable to other players coming in so that's the area you have to defend.

Per at fault for both goals

He was marked by two men nearly the entire night. Not necessarily to defend him as his form lately has been poor. The question needs to be asked if Barca could afford to man mark him with two people who on our team were they leaving unmarked? As it was 11 vs 11...well in theory at least

You where thought as a defender to let the striker have a pop at goal??
Your coach should have been sacked.

Absolutely this means hopefully they will now concentrate on the League. Wenger should put the 2nd team out for the 2nd game in Barcelona.
