This government has done little to improve the economy ,
the recovery is 95 per cent due to the drop in oil prices, the recovery in
the usa and the international economys around the world .
People are still going to prison for not paying the tv licence ,
what a waste of time and money .
Use the prison,s for drug dealers, robbers and burglars .

They spend literally one hour in there and are let back out on 'temporary' release.

It's called Ecuador because it's on the Equator.

That's news to me. That's more of a ''Today I Learned'' thing than an obvious thing I think. Thanks :)

It felt kinda obvious when I thought about it. Not necessarily knowing the geography of it, but rather just the name. "Ya know, Ecuador kinda sounds like...hold one, what part of South America is it?".

Ecuador literally means Equator in Spanish.

I only found out recently (seperate to this thread, but co-incidentally) that it's spelled Ecuador and not Equador!

I've always assumed that the word 'outlaw' was just another word for a criminal. But it's actually got a specific meaning - in old legal systems people who had committed crimes could be cast outside the law and denied its protection. So anyone could then torture or kill them, with no legal consequences. It was practically a death sentence.

Maybe if I had watched more westerns I'd have copped this sooner :)

What things have you just found out that would be seemingly obvious to everyone else?

Up untill last year I thought Washington DC was in Washington State :o

That the Labour Party is gone !!!!!!

With respect to using nail clippers, everyone's ambidextrous.

Not in my family. My brother can't use his non dominant hand and neither could my dad.

Nope, There is no way I could nail clip my right hand with my left, not without copious amounts of bloodshed.

That we were literally in the first World War.

Like, we all know this, but I'd never really thought about it as such.

Like poltically, we were part of Britain, and in it as much as Scotland or Wales or England.

Also, obviously, I feel i'm going to regret this post.

That the words of the song are "I like big butts and I cannot lie" and not "I like big butts and a can of lard". Always thought it was a strange lyric.

Most definitions would say that means using the hands equally well. I am significantly worse at using clippers or scissors with my non dominant hand.

Most classical music that won the Pulitzer Prize is not available on YouTube. It's obvious why when you listen to it!

Apart from the Pulitzer prize being a journalism award I don't get it either.

Edit: never knew there was a music award too

The first one I looked up was there, I guessed that edbrez is trying to educate us on classical music, I just realised, and so I stopped falling for his/her sneaky underhanded teacher tactics...

You should keep practicing until you get the hang of it. If you ever lost your right hand it would be useful to be able to cut your nails with your left.

If you 'lost' your right hand you wouldn't be able to cut your nails with your left hand anyway... :D

But I know what you mean, and I agree. :)
