Maurice Shanahan hit 4 or 5 from distance with angled breeze. He hit them very high and they went off and went wide. He scored 1 free from 30 yards in front of goals.

TJ must have scored 3 ,i think, in the first half against breeze. His were 'passed' over the bar..lowish trajectory but accurate. Although he had 1 that was too low in 2nd half and was saved.

In 2nd half, Waterford must have tried 2 or 3 other free takers and if they'd hit their frees they'd have won by 15pts.

Re; Austin Gleeson. Super talent but takes too much out of it. Mc Grath needs to tell him to do the simple thing. Twice, if I remember, he went on 2 lung busting solo runs and had 2 men outside him on both occasions but opted to take the man on and lost possession. He gets loads of possession but his decision making needs to be worked on but has loads of ability.

Yeah I agree, Gleeson has all the skills to be one of the best players in the game but he is doing himself or his team no favours with his selfishness in every game. He must be very frustrating to play with. If I was an inside forward I would be fuming with him. He scores some breath-taking scores but they usually only come after 4 or 5 aimless pot shots whereby he would be better off laying it off to someone else.

Waterford people will claim that he is an entertainer and a fella with his skill and talent should be allowed to express himself whatever way he likes but ultimately he will let the team down. The way he plays at the minute he wouldn't be on the KK team despite probably having more talent than a lot of our players

Yeah, the majority of the wides were from distance. They hit 12 in the first half and at least 8 or 9 were at the same post.

Haha I only saw the last few minutes of the game but I meant in general. Anyway, he's a gifted hurler I think, and similar to Colin Fennelly, he's due a stand out season. Both tremendously talented players who need to take some of the strain off Reid and Hogan. I don't know much about KK hurling other than from what I see in the Summer sorry. My opinions are based solely on that.

I can't believe you think Wally is one of the most skilful players on the KK team. His ball striking is shockingly poor. Have a look at the Leinster final from last year against Dublin.

(I am quite critical of Wally I know).

Watched the match back, team was blowing very hard in the second half, however they fought for everything and showed good heart. One thing that was noticeable was the amount of ball we drove down the centre of the field in the second half, come the summer if faced by the 7 man defence we need to spray the ball a little better.

Interesting to see what changes will be made come the weekend, hopefully Kevin Kelly, John Power and maybe Conor O Shea would see some game time. I would also love to know if Michael Rice is back with the panel.

Any team yet for Sunday ???

From talking to one of the lads on Tuesday while they were dissapointed with last Sunday it didn't surprise them for a number of reasons.
1) The state of the pitch-muddy and long grass after they've been training on all weather pitches in Dunmore.
2) Waterford had at least 7 games behind them in terms of playing together and match fitness
3) The Kilkenny lads have only been training together since 12th of January where as most other teams have been together since at least the start of December and some have even been at it since early November.
4) They haven't hurled together in training yet and probably won't for another few weeks.

The first two he said, the second two I've picked up from other conversations with players over the last few weeks.

After seeing the game Waterford totally deserved to win however I think all the talk that they could have won by a lot more is quite misleading. While they were very dominant in defence they really offered very little going forward and were taking potshots which almost all went wide in the conditions and from the distances they were attempted. I think Waterford won by about the right amount given how they lined out and approached the game. They will struggle to beat Tipp and Galway playing like that.

We will be up against it with Tipp looking very strong but against a very poor Dublin. As an ould lad said to me Tipp are great to hurl with the wind at their back but how will they handle it in their face?

Deep down I think the Waterford game will have brought us on a lot and with the better pitch we will be a lot more competitive but if Tipp can hold their nerve they can take us. If we keep it tight which I think we will it'll be very close and we could sneak a win. However I'd be happy to just see the lads not get pushed off the ball.

Eddie is adding a little more cream to make Sunday's game a little more appetising/tasty or is it testy ?

Looks like Eddie needs a holiday...

We need to unearth forwards so Id like to see a bit of a shake up in that department this weekend. No use using Mark Kelly and Farrell as both were beyond useless last weekend and neither are going to be serious options this summer. Id like to see 2/3 of Kevin Kelly, Conor Martin, Chris Bolger, Michael Malone, James Maher, Conor O Shea are just the few names that come to mind. Maybe give young Cody another game too although Id like to see Rob Lennon given a shot at some stage during the league

Pretty happy with that team to be honest. Enough of a balance between changes and Senior campaigners. Think Brian has got it spot on this week
