Im new to cats - will never understand them - but the cat in my life has me wrapped around all 4 of her paws :) Shes in/out all day long, and usually goes out at night for a few hours (we're in a very rural area) and comes home around 10.30, climbing in our bedroom window to DEMAND her dinner - pronto! So last night, for the first time ever she stayed out all night  (didnt get a bloody wink of sleep!) Came home at 7am, bulldozed her dinner and is asleep all day. Just went off looking for her now, down the house - found her under/behind 3 cushions on the sofa in the dark sitting room. HUGE cushions, how the hell did she move them to make a 'nest' - she peeped out through a little hole when I turned the light on as if to say "buzz off and turn out the bloody light, Im sleeping" Im a cat-slave!

I went home there a couple of weeks ago and my parents had a new kitten. Most adorable little thing but when you settle down for the night he comes and crawls up as close as he can to your face puts his paws on your cheeks and falls asleep. (after a few belly rubs) it was so hard not to take him back with me!!

It happens every day really but when I get home from work every day, the 3 cats come running over to the front door, meowing to be let in. I love it. I know they're probably just cold/hungry/lazy but I like to think it's so they can spend time with me!

My dog lives with my parents, but I had to move back home a while ago. It was great getting to spend so much time with him. I moved back out this weekend, and was delighted to, but im really missing Bob.

I phoned tonight and my mother put the phone down to Bob (I know grown ups don't do that sort of thing! :pac:) and he licked the phone!

I'm sure he just wanted to taste it but I'm telling myself he knew it was me!!

My mostly-deaf old dog does the same and comes running. Well said Smurfjed.

There is no better alarm clock than the thought that something might be wrong with a furbaby

This morning my dog was stretching and yawning when all of a sudden she let out a little fart. It wasn't smelly (noisy ones generally aren't) but the surprised look on her face when she heard it and then having a peer around to see what the hell had made that noise behind her :) Hilarious :D

I've been away for work for almost two weeks. The little guy has made himself at home on my pillow.

Ah, the moment when the sneaky dog unwittingly steals and devours a chilli from the curry leftovers.

Ate his dinner in his new crate! He went in and out a few times and checked on me (whether for reassurance or just to check that I was still on the sofa and not sneaking up to lock him in I don't know), but it's a definite step in the right direction :D

Why do you put him in a crate?

Why do you put him in a crate?

I would like him to feel comfortable in there, as millions of dogs do, in case I ever do need to have him in there for example: if he's injured and needs to be rested, if I have someone visiting who is uncomfortable with dogs, if we're travelling (I want to go camping this summer and having him loose wouldn't be a good thing), or for him to be safe in the car. I'm planning on having an extension built later in the year so he couldn't be loose while that's going on.

A crate isn't a cage, it's your dog's bedroom. Somewhere to go where they know they'll be left be and have peace and quiet.

Here's Tegan, my old dog, chilling in her 'box'. She loved that crate. She used to refuse to get out of it.

There were three small left over Brussels sprouts kicking around in a pan on the stove so come feeding time our three dogs got one each.

What I expected ensued. Big dogs (think 50-60kgs big) just wolfed everything down sprout and all, but the JRT ate all around his and when everything else was finished licked the sprout around the bowl to get all the (lamb) gravy off it.

So I thought that was it JRT's as I expected don't eat sprouts, but of course big dogs finished their food and wandered over to see if the JRT had left anything (never happens) and the JRT just swallowed the sprout to stop anyone else having it.

    Some things never change.

    Walked under a bridge :)

It mightn't sound like much but is a real step forward. Every time we approached it before he refused point-blank to go near it then, last night, trotted underneath like he'd been doing it all his life.

Baby steps, but we're getting there :D

GREAT to read the progress of a rescue dog! Just goes to show that a bit of TLC is what it takes to get past the fear. You must be thrilled to see that you are getting there :) More photos please!

My cat randomly will jump on my desk and walk over the keyboard, then sit on the left side and stare at me till I feed him. He doesn't do it often, maybe once a week, but it always makes me smile.
