Definitely getting rid of my G1W.
Between segments it can miss as much of 30 seconds of footage and it's usually when something happens.
It records short segments then huge ones despite the settings set to 5 mins.
Lost a lot of good footage from over the Christmas too.
Quality is good but i could no longer rely on it.

Is anybody on here using Windows 10? If so how are you editing videos now that it doesn't support Movie Maker?

I believe it does. It just doesn't come with it. Google search and download it for free!

See page 15 of this document to turn off microphone. I think it's in the instruction book that comes with the camera too.

    www.nextbase.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/.../NBDVR402G-english.pdf

There is no need to delete the videos off the dashcam. When the chip fills up, it will automatically start at the beginning again and write over the old files.

I've had an Ambarella 0801 for close to 2.5 years now and it keeps loosing the date and time. Anyone else experience this?

I have a toshiba class 10 card, 32gb. Have formatted it aswell but still the same issue.
There was a gap of well over 1 minute from footage the other day.
I need a card for my phone so i might swap them over and see if that helps.

    What firmware you using VM?

I've had all the problems that come with the 0801 and this firmware sorted it out (20140308 ).

I have no idea, I didn't even know the firmware could be updated on these things. It would be an early enough one, any links to the process?

my 0801 is a year old and works flawlessly with the firmware it shipped with, my 0806 on the other hand, the original firmware was pants, but when I loaded a custom firmware (made by a user like us), it set the camera free, and I haven't had a problem since.

to update the firmware, you simply download the firmware you want, and put it on the sd card in the root (not in any folder or hidden away), pop it in to the camera, and turn it on, the camera will notice the new firmware, and ask you if you want to install it. simple.

I used this one it's the last official firmware for my 0801 as I've no gps.
    20140308NO GPS + 1CARDOfficial firmware binary
There are other versions of this so check what your cam has and away you go. There are some unofficial version that address other fixes too.

The process: https://dashcamtalk.com/mini-0801/#Latest_Firmware there is a youtube video posted showing how to update the firmware.

I recently got the E-PRANCE D101 1296P from Amazon.co.uk for 74 Euro after an incident while in England over the Christmas period. Was driving along at night when a fella passed me out and when he pulled back in in front of me he had his rear fogs on which were blinding me. After about half a minute I just flashed him to see if he'd turn them off and he slammed on his brakes. Thankfully nothing was coming the other way and I was able to go to the other side of the road.

Anyways decided to get a dashcam and after some googling etc I settled on the E-Prance D101 and I'd highly recommend it. Night vision is excellent.

    Hi all,

When you find a fuse in the fusebox to tap the dashcam off, (lets say the original is 10A fuse), what sort of fuse should you add to the tap for the circuit you'll be connecting the dashcam to? Keep it the same?

    Thanks

    W.

Dashcams generally take 5amps I think so add that to your current fuse.

Finally got my mini 806 running tonight.. Hardwired.. Will give it till weekend and watch some footage.. Anyone recommend the cfl filter?
    Cheers,

Absolutely, especially this time of year.

Don't use the 2 alignment dots on the camera or lens though, their usually misaligned.

Instead, place a few pieces of white paper on your dashboard, and rotate the lens (while looking at the cameras screen), until you see the least amount of reflection from the paper on the windscreen.

Pricy, but then I got it as a Christmas gift - have been using a NextBase 402G since and find it brilliant. Quality is great night and day, GPS tracking with google maps, the works.

    The downside is €179.

We are trying a new thing - a thread to get exposure for your car sale. Car parts are OK too.
No chat / discussion in this thread, all discussion must happen in the advert or by PM.
    • Have an advertisement link on some site
    • One small image - if you like.
    • Small description of the car - if you like.
    • One post per car.
    • No dealers, big or small.
    • Only users with 10 posts or more can post.

Please note - if your car is sold or you change price, pics, ad withdrawn, whatnot - do not post again, instead report your original post with whatever update you have - a mod will update the original post.
Posting more than once means you are trying to bump your advert which is not ok.

It's a great idea, plus careful searching of the user might show up some history on the car - the information that's often hard to find, both the good and the bad sides.

Here's an interesting dashcam offer if it ever materializes, would you give up your dash cam video for some free hardware:

    http://www.engadget.com/2016/02/09/andy-rubin-works-on-free-dashcam/

Not sure I would especially if audio is recorded too!
