I got a Vicovation Marcus 4, haven't tried it yet but I think it will be good. I'm going to use my LIDL camera for a rear facing camera.

Has anyone got any recommendations on clips, adhesive pads etc. that would be good for keeping the power cables neat and tidy. I will be near a B+Q, Woodies, PC World/Currys and Halfords tomorrow, hopefully they have something.

Any recommendations for a good 1080p camera for the car lads? Just something with good quality anyway, for about 100? Or should I be looking to pay more?

I can only speak for the mini series, but my first camera was a mini 0801 and it is a great little camera, discreet, and reliable. you should pick one up on Amazon for less than a ton, then get a 32GB class 6 micro SD for it (Ideally a genuine Samsung card), and you'll be up and running in no time.

Have you given this a bash yet?

(I don't want to sound like a plonk, but I'd probably only think something was good after I'd actually tried it!)

just looked them up there, They'd want to be good for the price!!

My 0801 does that every few months. I usually disconnect so it looses all reserves of power, wait 5 minutes, plug back in and then keep holding the power button for over a minute and it comes to life

Had a look at it on Friday.
Pulled down the Glove box. Pulled out the piggy back fuse holder. Nothing wrong there
    Check the plug/socket.
    Nothing wrong there.
    Checked earth.
    Nothing wrong there.
    Working grand again.
Possibly a bad connection along the line.

    Mio Mivue 518
    E-PRANCE® New G1W
    E-PRANCE D101

Of them, which is the one to go for?

    Any other worth considering?

I found the power lead short to reach 12v and use a multi socket extender from Aldi/lidl. The wiring inside was rubbish on the extender and I had to resolder that. While I was at it, I opened the 0801 socket and that was no better, possibly from a bit of stretching. Resoldered the wires inside that also. Couple of screws holding it so it is straight forward to open.

I'd highly recommend the G1W, especially from the verified "official" ebay seller, it's not listed as shipping to Ireland but they do ship to Ireland and will update the listing for you very quickly if you message them: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/281702970175?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Out of the dashcam game a few years now looking for a recommendation for the mrs car, after a close incident when I was driving the other day - have a blackvue dr400g on my own jammer last few years and happy with that but don't want to spend huge monies on this as it will probably

    Budget €50 - 100,

Must be reliable, HD quality (willing to accept 720P), neat and small (no big suction cups) - GPS etc is unnecessary but an added bonus

    Cheers in advance

Strange that the item is listed in China, but the eBay photos are of Blanchardstown shopping centre

Likely someone in Ireland who is Dropshipping but the fulfillment agent doesn't ship to Ireland.

It's a little bit wider but it's still pretty teeny. Hides well behind the rear view mirror.

Yeah, I found that funny seeing that before I bought it. Think they just took the photos from Dashcamtalk.com forums.

The official Chinese ebayer I linked does ship to Ireland, they just don't seem to be arsed adding it to the item link each time they renew it. Last time I just messaged them asking them to add Ireland to the shipping list, they replied within hours & had updated it to include Ireland.

YouTube's own edit facilities allow you to trim, slow down or speed up or add annotations.

    oh, cheers for that.
I'm a total noob when it comes to this and wasnt sure what works!
Last time I looked into movie editing, you'd have to pay serious money for a basic editor!! :D

    It's been a while...:p

I'm also a big fan of windows movie maker. If your laptop doesn't already have it you can do a google search for it. You may come across a link for windows (live) essentials of which movie maker is bundled with. You can just uncheck the programs you don't want: e. g writer or messenger and install away. Your dash cam clips are most likely devided into 3 minute movies. If you have windows 7 or later (by now you should have taken the free upgrade to windows 10),you will have a preview pane in windows Explorer which will make it easier to select the clip(s) you need to import to movie maker. Make use of the trim controls and volume editor (if you want to remove the audio). There is also a save as feature where it will formal the video for YouTube, Facebook etc).
I think there's a forum here somewhere that you can post a link of your completed video.

My power cable has packed in so now i am just using a small micro usb cable hooked up to a multi socket charger.
I need to get a longer cable but not sure if this would work, has anyone tried them for the G1W ?

looking to get a small dash cam, the smaller the better, something thats particularly good at night. Don't mind if theres a screen on it or not, Id actually prefer one with a composite out so I could view it with the cars inbuilt monitor, will be a fixed install, but Id like it to be almost unnoticeable on the windscreen. Only real caveat is I'm a mac user so nothing that needs a special pc application to playback, VLC will suffice. Price isn't too big an issue but I wouldn't be going over 180
