Axl Rose is a complete & total fuck-wit, with an over-sized ego & an attitude to boot, who has shown nothing but contempt for his fans/band-mates...

Save your €'s, stick on Appetite at volume 11 & rock out your nostalgia without getting shafted by Axl for the last time.

Slash woundnt entertain the thought of a tour unless everything was 100% with that twat axel...........and i cant see that happening, although $3m a show sounds good to any band, unless axel is a reformed character with a set of balls and has realized he is mortal the show aint going nowhere.....If it does ill give my left nut and be there front and centre, saw slash at the 3 arena last November-amazing(and yes it was raining)....be great to see duff and slash back on stage but as for axel,meh......just izzy and stevie to go now:P

In all fairness to Axl, he more than made up for the 2010 debacle with the show in Dublin on May 17th 2012.

    and then Nirvana came along.

Seriously, Nirvana destroyed any credibility GNR might have had. GNR belong to the late 80s, they couldn't make it past 1993. Compare someone like Eddie Vedder to Axl Rose and Rose couldn't stand a chance.

I enjoy Axl's antics, they're hilarious, almost part of the show in a way.

The only way he'll ever make up for that is if he personally refunds me my money for the ticket. It was an absolute shambles.

Axl didn't have a say on refunds, that was the promoter and everyone on boards knows their history of assholery.

Actually some people did get refunds for that show when they took the promoter to the small claims court.

Bon Jovi were a like a boy band compared to GNR
that is a fact....had someone else write all their hits and then fame is acheived became a "songwriter"

you're getting mixed up there a little, it was hair metal that nirvana destroyed. Gnr carried on fine.

Not really. UYI 1 and 2 were both released pre-grunge breakthrough. Once grunge had happened, GNR and old style "metal" in general became critically and commercially out of step. Pearl Jam, STP, Alice In Chains etc were the new thing and made bands like GNR look dated by comparison.

Axl's beef with Kurt Cobain was widely reported in the press at the time and Axl came off worst. Remember the "hi Axl!" comment from Nirvana's 1992 MTV Awards appearance? That was their way of saying "we're here now, your time is up". :)

GNR managed one covers album in this time and that was that. I doubt they would've maintained a similar commercial level if they'd released an album in, say, 1994 or 1995. Would listeners have been interested in "classic" metal at that time, with post-Nirvana bands like Weezer and Bush clogging up the charts?

And GNR are frequently lauded for killing hairmetal off themselves.

    Guns N' Roses aren't a metal band..

Uyi 1 & 2 were mostly sh#t though. So saying nirvana ended the gnr era is a little wide of the mark. They'd already shown a massive decline before nirvana and grunge became globally popular.

Nirvana and grunge changed ALL metal though. Even Metallica cut their hair. :)

And haven't made a decent album since.

Nirvana and grunge changed jack sh*t, sure it became the ''cool thing'' because of Smells Like Teen Spirit (which is an over-rated song), but to say Nirvana and grunge changed metal is ignorance at it's finest.. Metal was just forced to adapt, which it did no problem, same can't be said for grunge.

I think you'll find the complete opposite is the case. Every metal band from that era accept that grunge changed their fortunes one way or another.

let's agree that nirvana didn't kill gnr and leave the other sh1t to another thread....i'k not even a fanboy it's just i was into both bands at the time and thought Gnr imploded as is the nature of the beast

Fair enough. I just can't stand GNR. And I think I can openly say this here as we are on AH and not the Music or Rock/Metal forum.

    Actually, GNR suck. :pac:

34 for "Yes Absolutely"?!? If any of ye are reading lads, can I interest you in the premium grade magic beans I've just got an order in of?- a great investment, safe as Axl's performance schedule!

My Daddy's better than your Daddy.

My daddy once listened to Beethoven's ninth on one stereo while simultaneously listening to appetite for destruction on another and watching columbo with the sound off on the TV.

Your daddy got owned that day. Owned hard!

Did it sync up like Dark Side Of The Moon and Wizard Of Oz?

The only G'n'R stuff I've really listened to is that 'best of'. I put it on now and then when going for a run or working out.

Fan myself. For our sake I hope Axl behaves this tour but we all knw he comes on late anyway because he has to warm up etc. For the 2012 Dublin show Axl was in the 3arena a few hours before the show and still came on late. (Suppose to come on at 9.15 but came on at 10.30).

I saw the nugnr lineup in 2010 (disaster) and 2012 (which was much better and they even done a sound check)

Saw slash in vicar street in 2010.

I will go if there's an Irish show or even a UK stadium show. For rock fans this is the most exciting thing to happen in years.

Oasis are next to reform I imagine then Rem
