It was a very, very nice car.

TV must have been handy as he floated along. That's about the only use I can think of for one in a car.

I wish there was a way to ignore all UK reg cars on DD, If I wanted the hassle of VRTing Id go to England myself and cut out the middle man with their mad mark up. The amount of lads flooding the country with UK imports seems to be massive again despite the current Eur/Gbp rate.

Expensive list, 2.1k for a sunroof. As nice as it is in that car that's a lot of money. 1100 for paint too. No wonder most 5 series on this island are specced poorly. If I was buying a new one not sure how trigger happy I would be with any of those tick boxes.

Edit.....60 euro for a usb cable!

Nearly all of them bog spec diesel Insignias/Passats/Avensis/Focii(?) too. The claimed mileages on some of these ex fleet cars is absolutely comical.

I really don't look forward to having to buy a used car in Ireland over the next decade. The % of cars with mileage discrepancies will be considerable I'd imagine.

1,000 for a tow bar? What a time to be alive!

the most exciting one for me is the €4000 media pack, that doesn't include a TV, that'l be another €1200.

also not in the media pack!

assuming it was a company car though of some sort though, so i guess none of this really matters.

couldn't see many private buyers opting for the €900 button to close the boot. not on a 520d anyway.

I could be wrong but on a company car is BIK not paid based on a % of the price of the car? If that were the case then €13k worth of options would surely increase BIK payments?

Yep, so he paid BIK on all €78,339 @ 30% as there was very little business usage.

Being the MD of the Irish arm of a Multinational Pharma company, I'd say he could well afford it though.

We've a couple of €130k + vehicles on lease. That works out the same as being paid an additional €3,000 per month, and that's what you are taxed on  Probably small beans in comparison to the overall salary.

So tomorrow is NCT day.. car just washed and emptied of stuff, but the tyre still makes me think they'll fail it. There's still a lot of thread on it so replacing it if I don't need to would be annoying.

(for those who may remember I was forced to mount a high kerb a few weeks back to avoid an oncoming SUV on a narrow street, took it to a tyre place afterwards and they reckoned it would be fine.. which it has been)

    Pics attached.. what ye reckon?

All four of my tyres had cuts like that at the last NCT and the car passed no hassle. It's only if the carcass or wire is exposed that they have a concern.

Cheers.. should I cut off the "torn" bit or leave it do ya reckon?

If you're going to leave it then glue it back.

You are a taller gent like me and im sure you can like me appreciate how amazing the driving position and sense of comfort is in an auto sport. Power is all relative. The B6 is a great platform but it's still a much smaller car in terms of cabinspace.

Will just buy a 525i or something and wait for one of the ones i mentioned above must likely

Surely there has to be more to it than interior cabin space I mean sure it's nice to have a spacious interior but it's hardly a deal breaker that warrants selling the car. Or is it just more that you don't like the car and that once you go bmw it's hard to go away from them. I know a lot of people that have had several bmw cars in a row the brand loyalty seems to be very strong in them. Sure if you know you want another bmw and are in a position to change go for it you only live once. Infairness I'd imagine a 540i would be a serious car but then so is an S4 :)

Another thing about BIK is that it's based on the car's NEW price regardless of how old it is but within a few years of manufacture obviously.

The rear footwells of the focus are sopping wet, and have been for a while. Said I'd trace it back to where it was coming in, and it appears to be flowing forward from the boot. Removed all the boot trim, opened the boot and ran the hose along the top of the bumper. Bingo. Water flows in between a gap between 2 plate type pieces. It's allowing quite a bit in.

Looked up a few videos on it and the bumper needs to come off to be able to seal it properly. Got it half off, and it started raining. Then I realised I'll need it later on (other one's getting serviced), so I put it back together again. I always start these jobs when I know I won't have time to do it.

I have black silicone, but I think I'll get clear stuff to keep the seals as discreet as possible. Any suggestions of a good one. Tec7? They always take so long to set though, so a quick setting one would be welcomed.

Has anyone used Inver fuel, diesel in particular. If so have you had any problems with it or did you find it okay? They have opened a few stations around Limerick recently and a priced very competitively.

They took over Long's old garage on the N24 near Beary's Cross lately, and one thing they are not is competitive! :pac:

i thought tec7 was able to dry under water? probably the best one to use, even if it doesn't set the fastest, you can still use the car while it's setting.

Oh really? Never used the stuff before. That's grand so. The 206 had the same problem, and I made a hames of it. Silicone everywhere. Hopefully I'll be a bit neater this time!

There's an Inver in Limmers with diesel for 108.9, it's the cheapest you can get here.

Mmm. I see, maybe they're just not bothering on the petrol front.

Ye tec7 will dry on wet surfaces that's one of its main selling points and why it costs a bit more obviously standard silicone won't.

Tec7 would be the job, think its around €13 a go, but if you're only buying 1 and it'll do the job really well who cares :)
