It's illegal to transmit UK ATC, in the UK:D
Interesting, strange why it would be illegal in the UK considering you can get almost every other country's ATC.
    Thanks for reply.

They ( TVS / Smartwings ) were meant to be leasing A330 for the Prage - Varadero service this winter but looks like they're having to make-do with a B738 for now!

    Yep, two refuelling stops westbound!

Due to run until April 2016 but not sure what passenger response will be like if they don't source an A330 soon...

Had my first go around today approaching LCY from Dublin on BA E7. Didn't seem to different to some bumpy landings I've had in past, but he climbed out of it anyway. Got in 2nd time.

Whatever it is about LCY, there's always more go arounds with far less adverse weather. Is it the terrain? the fact that there's such a steep approach?

What would they be using the helicopter for?

The area beside gort golf course always floods badly turning the place into a massive lake. Probably assisting with the safe evacuation of people and livestock.

Dublin schedule showing the following as the first arrival for 2016:

    Wroclaw Ryanair FR001P 01 Jan 00:30

Positioning or one of the Learjets? I don't think I'll be staying-up to find out :)

Update: it was LJ45 M-ABEU but it went to Stansted first, so the first arrival of 2016 was THY6ER.

Partly due to the higher minima because of the steep approach, but that's only really an issue with low cloud. Over the last few days the wind has been southerly, gusting and variable SW-SE. Between the airport being in the way, other buildings causing further turbulence and the fact that some of the aircraft going in can take 0 tailwind on the approach, this has resulted in plenty of go arounds. There are also embedded lights in the runway that the main wheels have to be down by, otherwise it's go around. Even on a nice day, it's never an easy place to get into

A lot of flights from Istanbul have long delays this evening. Flight to Dublin was due at 15.50 now arriving at 00.50.

Just watching Istanbul myself, its crazy. There seems to be a plane stranded on the runway and the last two planes have gone around

Loads of sea snow blowing in off the Black Sea. Forecasts are bad for the next week for snow.

That lake effect snow (or Sea Snow) caused all the problems at Dublin back a few years ago
