I'd say they just left it like that yesterday outside and let the parents and daughter to see it today I doubt there was anyone there in the garage although maybe there was depends how desperate they were for the sale and whether seeing it today would be a deal breaker.

Sounds like someone was there today to open up for this ........... "We were delighted to open up specially today to let proud parents present this gift a brand new Fiesta to their daughter"

Martina Colton & Keith Colton like the facebook post, looks like Martina married into the family, I'd wager neither were near the garage today.

My bad didn't realise that. It's bad form for them to actually drag a salesman in Christmas Day to do it I never realised.

They could have let the salesman have that single day with his family and parked it around the corner last night.

Here here, that's rich coming from a bunch of lads on Boards.ie posting like it's a day like any other :D:D:D

Would the salesman actually get anything for coming in today probably not. It's not exactly the same as being on call and getting double - triple time if you have to work Christmas Day.

This dash cam has hit a brick wall.. Can't remove the A pillar, roof etc.. As I. Wanted to hide the power cable.. The Haynes manual doesn't even mention the A pillar, roof etc.. Just my luck...

    Probably a company man :D
To be fair whoever went in mightn't have minded, might even have been their idea.

I suppose the commission could well have been if you don't come in Christmas Day to show of the car we won't buy it here. That extra new car commission would certainly then be worth coming in for not sure what the commission is on a new car I'd assume it's a good few hundred though which is nothing to be sniffed at.

Tbh I wouldn't mind working on Christmas Day not every Christmas Day but the odd one would be fine. I suppose if you have kids then that would change things. But while I don't, if me working Christmas Day meant a colleague with young kids got to spend the day with them then I would do it. Not that I probably will ever have to work Christmas Day.

Just pull the Door rubber off and it'll make more sense.

    Haynes manuals are useless.

The yaris is dead handy man, well kind of...

If you remove the ash tray that'l let you start the wire behind the dash board, keep feeding it in and then it'l show again above the pedals, thread it up above the pedals and when you get to the outside, tuck it into the door rubber until you get to the A-Pillar.

The A-Pillar just yanks off, put your finger in around the top of it and pull hard as ****, like really hard and it pops right put.

To drop the headliner is a pain in the hoop, you have to removed the interior light, all 4 grab handles, sun visors, all the door rubbers, not massively difficult but a bit tedious. For running the dash cam wire, after you run it up the A-Pillar, start it off under the headliner then if you just push it up tight between the windscreen glass and the headliner, use a flathead screw driver and it will pop onto the other side of the headliner, there is a bit of flexability in it.

When you are done, pop the ash tray back in, it'l close tidy over the wire.

Have been to a fair few interviews lately to be a junior salesman and the comission is ****, the basic is also ****. Seems like you'd be lucky to take €50 from a sale. Still want the job.

A pillar is easy. Stick your finger in between the plastic at the top and pull it as hard as you can.

You don't need to remove the roof lining. Just pull 1cm back with your finger and push the wire up and run it along the wind shield.

You can disassemble most of the Yaris interior without a screw driver. You'd only need a 14mm socket for seats and seatbelt posts :pac:

I will attempt hiding the power wire for my dash cam tomorrow.

It seems like I have lost the bracket for my bluetooth handsfree device so I guess I will have to secure it somewhere in a DIY fashion.

EDIT: After some research, this is what I'm going to do.

Me motors related Christmas presents ( my other present was a jumper )

    7YTtmbV.jpg?1

They weren't exactly a surprise as people had asked me what I'd like.

Ah, well deserved spring compressors ;)

I have had that LIDL socket set for over a year now. Gave it a heavy battering and everything still works good!

Cheers lad's, got the ashtray out and the A pillar off. Will set it up tomorrow. The A pillar was dead easy, both of them will have to be removed again later for a little project down the road, which will be revealed in good time. :)

A wheelbearing! Just what I always wanted! Happy Xmas to me! :p
Seriously, I nearly have to wear ear muffs in the car. I think my cmax must have eaten 4-5 wheel bearings in its life. They don't last much past 100k km.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,855 ✭✭✭nd

    @ shietpilot

Yeah not that I needed them desperately but the sister asked me to give her an idea for an xmas present or she'd get me a jumper.
Yeah 90% of my currents sockets and ratchets are lidl/aldi and have had no issues with them at all.
I'm excited about the jack. It'll be a relief to be able to lift cars to a good height easily.

Am I mad to be thinking about adding a rear spoiler to the golf by rattlecanning it with the halfords spray paint?

P.S. if anyone can recommend better wheel bearings, I'm open to suggestions

Are you always buying the same brand bearing? If I was changing them that frequently I'd try all of them :pac:

I think I've never bought the same one twice, Fords just chew them up unfortunately.
Though everything else on the car has help up very well, its not the worst thing in the world to change one of them every now and then.

Well suspension issues are always nicer to fix than some engine issues which require half the motor to be stripped apart :pac:

Seems to be almost no wheels for sale that suit an E39 at the moment, desperate for a set of 18's/19's and a small bit of low for mine :(

Your car is lowered on coilovers if I'm correct and if so how much were they to declare on insurance?
