FR7347 also going around at Dublin due windshear.

Edit: Both going to try RWY16 now. Wind down to an amusing 9 knots mean speed. (Was up to 17kt G 24kt before)

Wonder are they lining up to give 16 a go?

Wind here in the north county is positively howling at the mo.

Thanks for the update, I have no live atc feed here. I don't know where this 9knot mean speed is coming from. It's easily a multiple of that here (Donabate)

FR4544 on the ground after an approach on RWY16.
FR7347 also on the ground. He also got another well done, and a merry Christmas and another request for a few drinks. Calling the dailymail atm.

    Atc: Well done.

Just touching down at SNN with horses is Emirates A6-EFD

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 262 ✭✭PinOnTheRight

I believe A6-EFD is due out around tea-time for Prestwick, part of the Emirates lift transporting Madonna's tour westbound.

2 stobarts inbound Cork will be making an approach to RWY25, first I've seen in several months. If RWY25 wasn't available then they wouldn't be able to make an approach.

11pm tafs out, not looking nice for flying later tomorrow!

    Dublin

Main feature of Dublin tomorrow is between 10pm-12am, although all day looks pretty rough. Winds generally 180-190 degrees so shouldn't be too much of a problem for RWY16.

    Main Points decoded:

    BECMG 4pm-6pm 180° 20kts G35kts
    BECMG 6pm-9pm 190° 25kts G40kts
    TEMPO 10pm-12am 190° 30kts G45kts

    Cork

Winds fairly ideal for RWY17, but they are very strong, especially from 7pm onwards. Flying to cork tomorrow may be bumpy.

    Main points Decoded:

    BECMG 1pm-3pm 190° 25kts G40kts
    BECMG 3pm-6pm 190° 30kts G45kts
    TEMPO 7pm-12am 190° 32kts G50kts

    EICK 222300Z 2300/2324 24020G30KT 9999 SCT018 BKN040 TEMPO 2300/2303 5000 SHRA BKN010 SCT017CB BECMG 2303/2306 23015G25KT BECMG 2313/2315 19025G40KT BECMG 2315/2318 19030G45KT BECMG 2318/2321 5000 -RA BKN012 TEMPO 2319/2324 19032G50KT TEMPO 2321/2324 3000 RA BKN007

    Shannon

Crosswinds will be the feature of Tomorrow. Winds at the strongest point from 170 which is not far off a complete crosswind for 06/24. Might head up for a look during the day.

    Main points decoded:

    BECMG 12pm-3pm 160° 22kts G34kts
    BECMG 3pm-6pm 170° 25kts G40kts
    TEMPO 6pm-10pm 170° 29kts G45kts
    BECMG 10pm-12am 250° 20kts G30kts

    TAF: EINN 222300Z 2300/2324 24019KT 9999 SCT020 BKN040 TEMPO 2300/2306 24022G34KT 5000 SHRA BKN012 SCT018CB BECMG 2306/2309 21015KT BECMG 2309/2312 18015KT BECMG 2312/2315 16022G34KT BECMG 2315/2318 17025G40KT TEMPO 2318/2322 17029G45KT TEMPO 2320/2324 5000 RA BKN012 BECMG 2322/2324 25020G30KT

    Knock

Praise the shrine knock is open that late in the evening, because with that strong crosswind it would be closed anyway. Bad crosswind most of the day with the wind mostly favouring the non-ILS runway 09. Most earlier flights should be fine, but I'd keep an eye on the Gatwick flight due at 17:20

    Main points decoded:

    BECMG 1pm-3pm 160° 23kts G34kts
    BECMG 3pm-6pm 170° 28kts G45kts
    TEMPO 6pm-10pm 180° 33kts G50kts

Do these things have a really low fuel range or what?

The concept of a fuel tanker in air is class yet seems a bit OTT also.

If the are practicing QRA then they can burn a fair amount of fuel. I remember reading that any pilots that flew the English Electric Lightnings never ran out of fuel in their cars as they were used to looking at the fuel gauge every 5 mins!

The Lightning was dry within 30 mins of a full afterburner take-off and short supersonic dash to a target.
