Absolute BS. The Motors forum should be like the soccer forum in that you need 50/100 posts before you can use it. Otherwise you have lads that NEVER post in motors winding up the regulars. Same happened with DGT I think? Wont hear from the offenders again in that thread either

It's a disgrace what happened him. he was giving oceans of his own time to that thread and built a programme for motorcheck and everything.
No wonder he flipped when those two started at him. Why would he bother!

Such a joke, they should be banned!

If they had at least offered some constructive advice it could have been overlooked.
    Feck it

    Here here
I think we'd all be up for that.
It would probably have to mean we'd all need to apply for access, but at least it would stop a load of trolls coming in

Although I have never bothered posting in the soccer forum as a result

Motors is used a lot of users that sign up to boards to ask a question. Some stay, some don't - but most get what they need and it keeps the forum interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,127 ✭✭✭job seeker

5w30 from his posts he seemed like a really genuine down to earth fella and always willing to help it's a real pity though that he closed his account, but not surprising.. Them 2/3 posters in that dashcam footage thread are the are the same few cnuts that is always at that sh1t.. I never understood why they come to the motors forum to sprout such ****.. Boils my blood.. Genuinely pissed off..

Just saw an article there where mitsubishi are stopping production of the pajero to concentrate on smaller motors.

The current Pajero was launched over 15 years ago, so that's not a big surprise.

The lads closing their accounts are the bigger attention seekers than the so called trolls. Thicker skin is required if you're posting on Internet forums tbh!
Why close your account anyway? Just stop posting. It smacks of "it's my football and I'm going home" ;) No doubt he'll re-reg anyway like several other martyrs on here do regularly.

Sometimes, just sometimes there is a genuine reason to close an account. Its not always ooooh trolololol you are wrong cos I said so blah blah blah

Such reasons would include getting recognised in public, potential employers looking up profiles (highly unlikely but possible), an ex/someone undesirable stalking you just to name a few seemingly unlikely but all possible reasons.

I'm going to assume that none of the above has happened to you. It is also unfair to assume others have closed up specifically for one reason

But, what would I know.... :)

Fair enough but there's been several balatent examples on here of fellas who closed their accounts in a silly hissy fit only to reappear again within a few days under a different but not very well disguised new identity.

In my opinion, (barring the occasional genuine case as you describe) if you're closing your account, you're attention seeking, just like the poor put down trolls.

Shame another guy is gone. He might get bored over Christmas, change his car, and come back with pics.

I don't troll or anything, I just think that everything under 100HP should be banned from the road. Same with cars lower than 1.4.

    Sounds like a troll statement

Completely derailed another thread about a valid "cheap starter car" query with the same "dangerously slow etc" stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,755 ✭✭✭ianobrien

Maybe the mods should take a more active part and have a quiet word with some posters who have a habit of derailing threads. If this doesn't work, start issuing infractions.

Before any mods says to report, the individual post may not break any rules, but I feel that if I report loads of posts saying that the posting style is appears to be aimed to derail threads, I feel that I am wasting the mods time. Then again, maybe I'm wrong.

As an aside, there are loads here who can't admit that they are wrong, ever!

Ultimate troll get out of jail free card.

Used too much around here where someone makes a sweeping statement that will piss the world off and then just says that.

If its that blatant then there should be something done by mods, especially if its a common thing by posters. Not that I feel you do it lots but there is a few that only come on to twist knives!

I'm glad there's valid science, increased sensible regulations and really poor conduct by major companies and individual owners to back up my digs at the dervboys!

New years resolution so boys, I'll keep my soapboxing to a minimum :-)

A 100hp car is more then capable of keeping up with traffic on our roads and poses absolutely no danger what so ever to anyone... Such a pointless post, and will clearly never happen...
Also there are plenty of sub 1.4 engines out there with more then 100bhp...

Any chance anyone is going from Dublin to Sligo side on late 15th Dec or early 16th? Could chip in for fuel too. If not, it looks like I will be on a bus for 8 hours :o

sure in the 1.0 car thread it turned out youd never driven a 1.0 car.

ban all cars under 100bhp and you'll upset a lot of mx5 drivers.

I had a 1.6l Mk. I Mondo back in the day, rated 90PS. While it was in no danger of setting your hair on fire or spinning the planet backwards, it certainly didn't disgrace itself in any company. It was quite torquey, as is the 75BHP TU3JP Citroën we have at the moment.
