So not sure if I'm getting this right or not. I have two vouchers so if I spend over €100 at Aldi on groceries this week I will need to divide groceries up into two transactions of €50 each?

Depends on the sales assistant and the store.

if anyone has two vouchers then do the gift card thing with tesco, much better saving
use voucher 1 and buy a 50 euro tesco gift card, go back to tesco later that day of the next day and use voucher 2 and the giftcard, job done
worked everytime for me the last time they were issued, i even bought a second gift card on my on my second voucher a few times and there is no expiry date

Gift cards are explicitly excluded from the scheme, you need to find a new/thick/deliberately disruptive staff member to sell you a full 50. These are dwindling away.

I have six €50 vouchers saved ready for Christmas
It's never failed and I've used different Tesco stores too.
Last time the vouchers were out one boardsie used them to buy Argos vouchers and bought himself an iMac
That's what gave me the idea and I chanced using a voucher with a gift card

Have you tried this yourself ?

Think people should be happy getting €10 off a €50 spend

Some checkout operator is just going to get in the sh1t

It working for you (months and months ago!) doesn't change the fact its explicitly disallowed and no sensible checkout operator will risk doing it.

It was a manager working the customer service desk that last sold me a voucher and she had no problem with me doing it
At the end of the day they have a voucher that makes up the balance
Nothing on my voucher that says I can't buy vouchers
I also have supervalu vouchers in the post €12 off €80 and doesn't say I can't buy vouchers

The T&Cs of the deal Tesco take them under says you can't.

You are relying on the checkout operator being new/thick to let you around this.

That's harsh on the staff in Tesco
I've used this way at least a dozen times
Maybe the staff don't care rather than being thick as you call it

Just spoke to customer services and that's items are the only exceptions

    Hi Lorcan,

Thank you for getting in touch.

These vouchers can be used for most products, excluding lottery based items, tobacco products and baby milk formula.

I hope this helps and please let me know if there's anything else that I can do for you!

    Kind Regards,

    Jamie - Customer Care

    Three things

    1: "most" products
2: Customer Services are incredibly thick also
3: The T&Cs are blatantly clear:

"We do not accept spend & save coupons for the purchase of Gift cards "

At the risk of being shot by Vic (!!) may I ask if Dunnes Stores €10 off €50 Week 1, Week 2, etc. can be used in Tescos? :o

They're sent out with loyalty card vouchers.

Many thanks for not strangling me! Lol :D

It varied over the summer but this week it was Sunday. Both Lidl and Aldi in the World.

    This happened to me today.
2 people ahead of me had just over 40 Euros of shopping. When the bill was totted up, one person produced the voucher which the operator naturally explained couldn't be used.
The other person told the first person that there was no point in spending another 9 Euro just to save 10 euro!!!

    Yes, I've tried myself.
When vouchers were first introduced earlier in the year, I was able to put some on a Tesco Gift Card, but as the weeks of vouchers were going by during the Summer, Tesco Head Office told staff to not to allow competitor vouchers to be spent on Tesco Gift Cards, and I was refused several times in different stores. It didn't make sense to me really: I'd understand them refusing a gift card for Argos or something, but I was wanting to put the money against a TESCO Gift Card (for future grocery shop), and so Tesco would be getting money from me in-advance of my actually spending it on more groceries, etc...IYKWIM.

It's to stop people using gift cards with more coupons in future

+1, I think someone was doing this already in some other thread.

I wondered if there was possibly even a legal issue, as its a sneaky way to get around the legal bans, as I think you can use a regular gift card to buy infant formula or tobacco, as they are not seen as promotional.

I also wondered about refunds or partial refunds. Like if you want to return a €10 item bought on a spend of €50 how does that work.

I will be checking boards in the future to see if any papers have double vouchers and buy it later in the day.

    People were doing it.
But a €50 card for €40. Then buy another €50 card for €40. Effective cost €32. Then buy shopping >€50, use a coupon and last gift card = €50 of shopping for ~€22. I think..

I've never had any issues with refunds of items bought in Aldi/Lidl/Tesco as part of a €10 off €50 shop, even though I've spent just over the required €50. Have always got back the full price of the returned item.

Aldi have said there are vouchers for the next two weekends, 10 this coming weekend and 20 off 100 the next.
