Yes ,if its a twin tuner.
    Does he require Saorview ?

If he does need saorview, will the LX2 still be ok?

    Ok,

Just before I press pay on the LX2.

This box will be able to do the following,

Record and watch another channel at the same time.
Be snapper than the AA2. LEss freezing and green screen?
Will run openvix and openLi images?

    Regards,
    BobbyT28

If he needs saorview he'll needs the combi version of the lx2, the one on satkontor has 2 sat tuners. the freezing issue has nothing to do with the box.;)

If you buy the combi it only has one sat tuner and one Saorview tuner so you cant record one satellite channel and record another.

I'd suggest you get the twin sat tuner Lx2 and use the €8 external Saorview USB stick suggested by reni10 with it for Saorview so you will effectively have a triple tuner receiver.

No it seems to be unavailable anymore. I wanted one for a neighbour. I ended up here http://www.amazon.de/Golden-Interstar-LX2-XPEED-Receiver/dp/B00FYD3ICA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449184863&sr=8-1&keywords=lx2
I never could find out how to order the combi though.

Any link for openvix? Would this be a good image for someone that doesn't really want to be messing with it or would you suggest anything else?

openvix do not support zgemma boxes as they never did or will ,they are using a patched image to fool people.
open atv does support these boxes.

Put a permanent 16g stick in the usb port. Mount it at media/usb. Install your picons from feeds to that usb device.

epg. Config your epg to download to media/usb. Pick 28.2E and download.

Install Ondemand which is RTE and Tv3 players.

Have 1TB HDD installed internally. Have Crossepg downlaoding to that.

Will have a look at ondemand, the wife will be happy with catching up on HOme and Away!!

You don't want your harddrive spinning that much or accessed that much let alone alone the potential for the database getting segmented or corrupted, a small USB formatted through the box is a much better option.

all my boxes use a kingston 8gb micro usb to store my epg and these boxes are fussy with what they can use.
i presume your new image has now got your fan switched to on.

A lot of the boxes are choosey for the USB for flashing them, but once you format them on the image you normally don't have any issues, I've a 512mb stick that works on every box, worth it's weight in gold

Yes Fan is on auto. Box does seem a bit noisey. HDD does seem like its doing something all the time, would that be crossepg?

So what way do I setup Crossepg again? Just point it my USB what directory? Do i format it to FAT32?

    Thanks again lads and lassies,

Put in the key, into system and device management, you'll see it in there somewhere to format it, it'll mount it as well the correct path for you. In CrossEPG go into setting and change the save location.

That would be the picons and CrossEPG that'll be keeping it spinning, every time you change the channel it's pulling a picon and everytime you check what's on it's pulling from the drive. The drive will be on constantly 24/7.

Cheers, will give that a whirl tonight. Think I have an old 4GB somewhere. Speed doesn't really matter does it?

Nope, once you don't need it anymore is usually the best 1 to use :D In my Ultimo I have 1 that came in a wristband at least 4 years ago, works away grand, I've it set to download nightly to it and never had any problems.
