Yeah Superfour or a CB500 is close to the ideal city bike.

True, but the nature of some stories are FAR FAR worse. We aint talking stupid over pricing stuff here or not happy with a part!

Two genuine lads of here alone had extremely serious situations. One case in particular could have been fatal.....THATS THE DIFFERENCE. Even thinking of it now sends a shiver down my spine SERIOUSLY.

Oh yeah and by saying I trust nobody I didn't mean to diminish the impact of the riders here who've shared their experiences. It's just that the standards in the industry are appallingly low, and yet the ones with the worst standards still find plenty of business.

I did tell a lie though, Italian Centre and Paddy's Pitstop have never let me down. Mountjoy never did, but it's long gone :( Everybody else, and I mean everybody else in the motorcycle trade who I've dealt with over the last 21 years has bodged work, failed to deliver parts within a reasonable time, and/or ripped me off.

I will never let anyone work on my brakes. I will always do that myself.

Jury is out on Lee Motorcycles as I have a return pending (boots I ordered are too big) if that goes smoothly, I can keep them in my good books too :)

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

Ah the boys in Lee are sound.
They beat any online prices for some helmets for me recently.
Unfortunately they didnt have the helmet i wanted though.
But yeah very few i know of that I'd let at my bike.

Stuck a set of Oxford premium sports heated grips on that I got at NEC for 40 sterling. Oxford certainly have come along way with the grips since my first ones 4 yes ago. Much better quality especially the control panel and my got the heat from them now. Last pair at 100% would be just about snug, now at 50% power I can barely hold them they are that hot.

Thanks the noelious for the tea and bickys and the soldering tips lol

Yeah man the current models of the grips are brilliant.

While the build quality of my r&g ones are complete ****e compared to oxford they do get absolutely roasting! Although with my handguards being massive and now even bigger with some mirrors on them i dont get much wind blast on my hands

Hey wonda boy, How did you find fitting them and how long did it take? I have a set at home waiting to be fitted.

Was the NEC show good then?

What was the bike of the show for most people?

Really depends on your taste, last year the H2 was launched so that stole the show, I really loved the MV augusta stand this year my god they are sexy machines.

Well I fitted them with a mate so we were doing general stuff aswell as fitting them, such as cleaning the K&N filter and spaying ACF50 on the bike as the tank was off.

Installation was pretty straight forward, one of the nuts off the bar ends fell into the handlebar so took 15 mins to get that out ffs. Then nice tidy wires from handlebars under the tank along the frame and ran a relay from the live feed from back of bike so that the grips go off with ignition if left on by mistake.

Well worth it as I got the grips for a bargain.

Sure the mirrors look pretty awful but they are dead handy!
They rotate and show me right behind the bike. I can even see the back seat if i wanted to do so for some reason..... haha!

I angled the main mirrors out now so they dont show my elbows anymore and i get a wide angle view from them and the little ones show me behind and to the side of the bike.

Sure it looks awful but im ok with it :p

    ^^^
If that were a watch dial, it would be referred to as busy :) . I like it though, I've a few mirrors that were elbows only, dreadful and pointless. Are any of those mirrors on the bars?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,731 ✭✭✭goodlad

I could add on a set of bar end mirrors! Haha

The extra small mirrors are attached to the handguard. Only been on a slow spin so far with them and they were brilliant but im thinking they may wobble at motorway speeds. I will suss it out tomorrow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,344 ✭✭✭Skill Magill

    And....

I also realised that the front end looks like a robot with gloves on doing chin ups off your bars :D:D:D

    [IMG][/img]MGpNE8z.png

Hope you realise this now and not when you're doing a oner on the dualer :D:D

Attachment not found. Not happy with the well nuts used to fix screen to cowling. I was fitting a madstad bracket so I took the opportunity to make up a new bracket. Second bolt on each bracket is to hold plate in place behind cowling.
The whole thing feels much more secure.
Will also use stainless bolts reattaching screen to madstad bracket.
On an aside I had the givi screen on my 09 vstrom 650 before I sold it. I then went 3 months before fitting it after buying the 13 650.
The difference is huge. It changes the whole dynamic of the bike.

    pic to follow

Bike looks very well with the extras you have put on it.Like the 2 extra mirrors and their location too.:)

Got GB Moto adjustable rearsets and a sidestand kill switch bypass loom today to go on on the 996.
Bypass loom means that I can have the 996 on the side stand and have her warming up and idling in neutral.:)

As said in post 1585 above.;)

Dusk to dark riding home, and chrome mirror visor.
GIpro blue LED indicator much bigger and easier to see.

Get a clear visor for the dark mornings and evenings. Much safer. If you find yourself heading into the sunrise/sunset then flip down sun shades are handy.

    The rear sets look class!

The 966 doesn't run in neutral if the side stand is down??

    Happy with the rearsets
Nope,Ducati decided that it would somehow be better if their 748,916 and 996 bikes were not able to idle in neutral with the side stand down.:pac:
That why I bought the sidestand bypass loom,so that I can warm her up on the side stand.:)

Dont know if Santa will come to me a 3rd time this Christmas with one of those AGV V5 built in sunvisor helmets.:pac:
Maybe a cheap pair of sunglasses might do for now.;)

Santa is allready bringing me a carbon X-Lite X802r and a limited edition Ben Spies HJC RPHA 10 +.
Thats if Santas helpers in DHL can shift their backsides into gear and bring me my presents.:(:pac:
