If you want to drive yourself mad see if it makes any difference whether you fill at Topaz, Tesco, etc.!

I have done it in my car. My previous fill at Emo Mount Brown which has the cheapest diesel in Dublin resulted in 6.5l/100km. Usually I get around 6l/100km.

    Applegreen/Topaz/Esso/Maxol/Texaco don't seem to make a difference.

Lowest fuel consumption so far has been 5.9l/100km at Applegreen Rathcoole. There was recently a thread on here with someone saying this station sells dodgy diesel :pac:

They seem to be taking a hands off approach don't they?

There is however the lamentable demise of the Defender but I think we can blame the EU for that one.

Yes, they seem quite happy to roll along with Ian Callum's last designs and the powertrains from the Ford era, for some reason. :D

Although I understand new XJ CKD kits are shipped to India for final assembly these days, as well as Castle Bromwich assembly.

Maybe a bit optimistic price wise but :( all the same.

Car looks really well, that's not optimistic tbh, I'd pay that for a car like it if it was well maintained. Some of that gtenich or whatever it is, trim restorer would give it that perfect finish.

Cheers dude :) Those pics are from a few months ago but will be taking more tomorrow. The car looks the exact same after todays mini valet just without the sunshine and blue skies. I'd love to get that trim sorted properly but it won't happen between the crap weather and getting home when its dark. Working all weekend too. Can't see it being much of a deal breaker so I'll leave it to the new owner. No calls/texts yet but dreading the next few days.

I'm not one for correcting someones grammar but a bit of punctuation wouldn't go astray here dude.

Sorry I completely messed up with that comment and only seen the thread now. So I was parked up with parking lights on and the keycard left in the ignition slot and when I opened the door to get out the car went crazy with a beep and ping noise going off together. I've never been in a car that had various warning noises going of at the same time surly one would be enough to warn you.

Best of luck with the sale :)

It's a well written detailed ad that shows the car has been well minded and owned by someone who has a good interest in cars and knowledge of them. Car is surprising low mileage for year too. Seems like a lot of car for the money to me but I'm not up on what they make either tbh. The biggest surprise is its a 2.0t 180bhp for some reason I thought it was a 1.6 petrol or could you even get the s60 in 1.6 or was it only the s40 that came with the 1.6 option.

I guarantee whoever rings will ask all the basic questions you've answered in the ad and then say it's a pity it's not diesel and the tax is high before offering 500.

Sure I suppose you have to sieve through the bad buyers to get to the good ones, all part of the fun of selling cars on donedeal. I hate selling cars I'd much rather just trade them in but you lose so much more money by doing that especially with older stuff. At the same time there is definitely loads of genuine buyers out there with cash waiting for the right car.

So I bought a Passat today :D well I paid the deposit and on Tuesday hopefully I'm picking it up.
I'm fairly happy with my decision especially when I'm getting a free eu maps upgrade and a discount on the insurance. Thats how they do things in Poland luckily for me :) but I didn't get much off of the price.
I did bring the car to an independent garage and they told me its in perfect condition. Shocks will need doing soon and nct till next june.
Sorry for the internal shot but I had given back the keys and needed to leave so it was a quick pic. Cream heated leather, dusk sensor, rain sensor, satnav and auto dimming mirror.
    170bhp.

Is this a replacement for the Punto? Either way, nice Polish Passat. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,900 ✭✭✭✭bear1

No no the Punto is the wife's car and it's a keeper, never put a foot wrong.
The Passat is replacing the Honda I had. Plan is to use it will I'm still on my Polish assignment for work seeing as it might last another year or so and then bring it back to Ireland and register it. We'll see though, long distance thinking for now.

Ah I see. Have you picked up the language? :)

How would it be to have an LHD car here as a daily?

Well I can prosze piwo :D which is "beer please" and cough a few of their charming swear words :)
Day to day it may be impractical but doable as I go fairly often to the EU either for work or road trips to Italy so I don't mind the idea of a LHD car in Ireland.
But it will be at least a year before that happens.

Actually now that I remembered, when we arrived today at the dealer with our appointment made a week beforehand, another couple came in looking for the Passat.
Thought to myself, well that's my negotation gone to ****e.
I had to watch as another of the dealers workers started showing them the inside of the car etc. Pure agony.
At this point I was practically praying that the inspection would show some terrible flaw and I'd be able to back away with a price war going on.
Luckily by the time we got back they had left and that's when the deal was signed.
