Any idea does the OPX support UHS grade micro SD cards?

Yes, but you cannot move apps to SD

Is this part of the SD card issues OPX is having, or just a rule of thumb? Not even with rooting?

There are some software bugs that will be fixed in updates but moving apps to SD is not being enabled as Google don't want it. I'd say you'll have to go the custom ROM route to get it.

Ah yeah. No worries. Thats always an option. Nice fast micro SD would be handy for photos and cache'd music. Never really like the idea of putting apps on the SD (if ever I need to remove the SD) but atm ive 10Gb of apps (probably alot of cached videos/music/tabs etc). If I can figure a way to rejig app data storage (music mainly) I should be ok.

EDIT: I see google music has this option.

Thought mine was sitting in China. Checked the dhl page as shown a few pages back, and whammo, it's outside my house.

Mine arrived. Waiting for tesco mobile now to port my number from my old sim to the new nano sim. Phone feels really premium for a €269 device (when I think back to old nokias I bought for not much different 12 or 15 years ago).

Didnt really do anything except power it up. One weird bug in the setup was it connected to my wifi but then spent 2 minutes trying to test the connection and it failed, it then allowed you to skip this step and when you got out of setup the connection was fine. The first thing it did was download an oxygen update... screen is very nice, and the factory fitted screen protector is a nice touch as they can be fiddly to fit.

Also I know it was flagged in previews but the lack of backlights on the physical buttons is a strange thing to cut but you more or less know where they are from other phones. There arent even any unlit symbols for them. Theres just three spots you touch

Guy's can anyone give me an idea on how the X compares to a Galaxy S5? In terms of an upgrade should I be looking at the plus 2 over the X?

Strange, though as you say, once you get used to which does what you're sorted, and id say i'll prefer the minimalist look of no symbols.

Pics on OPX website show some symbols though. _ O _

S5 isn't that old yet. Probably better off waiting until the S5 looses its charm, or going for a more flagship phone (like the OP2). A factory reset S5 is probably be a nicer bundle than a factory reset OPX.

This should give you some comparison between the devices.

Not much of a difference really

Advantage of OPX for me is the front 8mp cam
    design and outer appearance
    dual sim tray

i really want it but not really an upgrade on my S5 :( gonna wait for OP3 or even OPX2

Those are software icons, the physical buttons have nothing at all to show they are there. It does make it look very clean. Have to say the build quality and design is very impressive. The buttons all feel good to press, theres no creaks like my old flimsey S3

Does it come with a case. Any recommendations for a case or do you think that there will be an otter box case made for this phone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,391 ✭✭✭jozi

It comes with one of those silicone cases, will do the job until I get something nicer. I like my cases thin even if they don't offer a lot of protection but it's better than nothing, nillkin had done me with my old phones up till now but I don't see one for the X

Have had a good play around with this phone today and some yesterday. I like the size, can easily swipe with one hand again. Not as keen on this OS as I was cyanogen feels like it's lacking here and there. Trying out a load of xposed modules which make up for some missing features.

Only thing I haven't got working yet is data. I cut the sim down, new one should arrive tomorrow and hopefully that assumes the data issue

What's the status of your order on the oneplus website?
Mine is marked as complete but on the DHL tracker, it left Shenzhen on Thursday afternoon.

Also ordered on the 12th and when I put the order number into dhl it comes back as not found. Order is 'processing' per the one plus website. I assumed it'd be registered on dhl by now, anyone else waiting this long?

Yep, I ordered on the 12th too and it's still processing. Not too worried, they said it can take up to ten days to ship.

I ordered on the 11th and it didn't show anything on DHL......till Sunday evening. So you'll probably see something tomorrow evening/night and it should be quick enough after that 2-3 week days(express post).
