Is the Adaptive Chassis Control no longer an option on the R? It's not on the list of options on the configurator on VW.ie. Also, it won't allow me to add DiscoveryPro as an option either - it's there, but it won't add :(

As Joe said, go to a dealer and ask.
As for the pro nav, they should be able to drop the cost of the standard unit from the pro making it a bit cheaper.

Cheers, I'm not looking to change until 162 or 171 so I'm just playing with the configurator at the moment. :)

Any R owners on here have the ACC? Thoughts?

Adaptive cruise control or adaptive chassis control (DCC)?

    Build week 50!

Excellent, has the dealer mentioned when it will be ready for collection?

    Build week 50!

When did you place the order?? I put my order in at the start of the week (not gti or R) and I'm build week 51.

Now seems to be a problem with the wheels I'm looking for, dealer and VW ordering system can't seem to get the wheels as noted on the product guide for the R Kit seems to be additional extra even with the product guide and website but confirming this specific wheel to be included in the package:mad:
This has been on going for the week!!

Put the order in a week ago. Hopefully ready start to mid January!

I received a letter from my local VW dealer. I was curious as to whether it had any answers to the current "issues"

Instead what I got was an invite to a night with speakers, such as Rosanna Davidson and hear her talk about nutrition!?!

    Thanks but no thanks!

Yep, I got it on my Gti.
Do say its one of the best extras I got.. As I mentioned on this tread before I normally leave the car in Eco (Softest Suspension Setting, no engine noise feedback, light steering, etc ), and only change up to Sport (Firmest setting) on an early, empty road Sunday...

The DCC modes are - ECO, Comfort, Normal, Sport and Individual (you can set you own driving modes).

Is there an appreciable difference in the chassis settings with the dcc?i.e is the ride a lot smoother in comfort?
I thought JoeA3 mentioned that driver profile settings were now standard on the R. Is this the same thing as dcc ?

Yep, the R has driver profile settings - which gives you everything you'd get with DCC except the "Comfort" option -I have no settings for adjusting the comfort of the suspension.

I have - Normal, Eco, Race, Individual
With DCC, you get all the above plus "Comfort".

I've driven a couple of cars with full DCC... I couldn't distinguish much difference. I suppose it's like anything else, if you get used to having it you won't want to be without it.

I have no experience of the GTi/R but I had DCC on my Passat CC. There was definitely a difference between the different settings. Sport was a lot firmer on the suspension while Comfort was very bouncy on the road. I usually just left it on Normal which obviously was midway between Sport and Comfort. It had no bearing on throttle response or steering though as the system fitted to the CC wasn't as smart as the GTi or R.

    This CO2 thing for the R is concerning. A 10% difference would shove it up a band in both VRT (27 -> 30%) & motor tax (570 -> 750)

Do you have one ordered? VW will cover the increase in cost if it goes up in price, both vrt and motor tax.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 701 ✭✭✭carsfan

Yes but for how long will VW pay the difference in motor tax? The lifetime of the car?
    I doubt it somehow.

From what I've heard there's a deal being done for cars already registered. If they come to an agreement it would remain at the current rate meaning that current cars might be slightly more desirable as they'll have lower rates.

    Sounds good to me :D
It'd be similar to the situation in 2008. A '07 Astra OPC costs ~700 to tax. A '08 (if you can find one...) costs ~1200.
If the hike is significant and affects new registrations it'll dent new R / GTI sales significantly.

A bit off topic but any of you golf drivers any idea/guess what a dealer might offer for a 2015 gti pp leather and keyless with 20km on it against a new R dsg?
    List was 42k last jan.
Just want ball park before I ask the question myself.

I'd guess ballpark 33-35k for yours - cost to change 10k (assuming you don't tick any options:eek:).

Was thinking 34 - 35k. As usual, check out the cost to change from a few dealers in the area.

Thought you might go bmw again (430d possibly!)

Ah Jesus lads, were not talking about changing already ? ;)

I only got my car 3 months ago, still the miles are mounting up (2500M)

I can't help myself looking at cars all the time I'm afraid . Even though I love the gti I wish it was dsg.
I think you're being optimistic on what they will offer on my car I thought closer to 30k.
Foreign sports is spot on re 4 series gran coupe. I think they look gorgeous. They're very expensive however.
Maybe second hand but they are very thin on the ground and rationally I can't think what they have over the golf really.
Makes more sense to hold on really and keep the car two years at least. I think joe and mister drak you both changes at two years and were happy with your deals.

I think you'll find that in 12 months time, the cost to change won't be a huge deal greater than it is today - i.e. the first year is where you see the biggest depreciation hit.

I got €29.5k for my 2 year old GTI. 4 months later it is still sitting on their forecourt... so maybe in hindsight they think they gave me too much for it!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 701 ✭✭✭carsfan

29.5grand was a good price I would say.
The problem is that with very cheap pcp rates a lot of people will buy new and not be spending much more if anything per month. That maybe why your old car is still for sale.
I agree that another year on my car won't lose it a whole chunk more.
I'll see what figures the dealer I bought from comes back with and probably leave it unless they're giving the cars away!

They're just asking too much for it and don't really seem too bothered selling it or seemingly give a decent deal on it. I test drove it when I first went inquiring about a GTI and even at that they were still trying to sell me a new one rather than your one, even though their initial figures for a standard one were crazy (10K deposit and €470pm...).

Edit: I see they have actually reduced it's price recently, but they were asking about 5k less for it than you could have a brand new one and the PCP rate on a new one was far better than what you'd get on the used one! Yours did have a lovely spec though, 17" alloys aside but that's just a personal preference. :P

It has the 18's :pac: How did you miss that detail :p

That's interesting... and I fully agree with you, they were asking strong money for it. 31k I think it started at and now it's at 29k, which is still a bit strong. They have another one there too for about the same length of time, a 141 with slightly less spec.

I do wonder how dealerships work sometimes, how they can afford to have stock like that sitting for ages and not making any great effort to shift it on. That GTI is a fantastic buy for someone... at the right price.

    Something not right there

I got a quote on a GTI specced to 40K for €570 pm with a 2,500 deposit or something in that ball park. Rate was 1.4% I think.

Exactly what I thought, so I bought elsewhere, but they were the figures they were coming back to me with initially, I even spoke with the finance manager there about it etc... who inhaled through his teeth when I said I would ideally love to keep my repayments as close to 400pm as possible (I didn't think getting below that would be possible), even though I was putting down 10k and the GFV was ~14.5k. Think their APR might have been 2.9/3.9% or something at the time though, which wouldn't have helped.
