Ok further update for those who want to disable 72fps cap.\

go to: \documents\my games\fallout 4\Fallout4Prefs.ini and set iPresentInterval to 0.

Might cause Physx issues so be prepared to set it back to normal.

Im running at a lovely 150+ fps now :D:D

Wow. What resolution you running at? I was thinking of getting a 144Hz 27" gsync for my 970 FTW+ ACX2.0 [Base/Boost of 1216/1367 without seeing if i can clock it further, as opposed to regular 1050/1178].

But I have been afraid it wouldnt handle it. I have a couple of hundred in vouchers I could use for a new monitor... Im currently running on a 60Hz 1080p :P

EDIT: I should be asking this on the HW forum, never mind :P

Got to about level 7/8 last night, went to bed at 5.30. Safe to say I'm really impressed so far, UI aside.

Not one crash so far, which is unheard of for Bethesda games, graphical performance on high (but not ultra) is good with a 7950.

Overall, really happy that I took 4 days off work for this baby. Now for another day of wandering the Commonwealth.

Lads I have i5 4690K and R9 280. What kind of performance can I expect? 60fps at high?

I just ran the game on a G3258 with a GTX960. Seems to run well on ultra surprisingly. Indoors gets better frame rates also.

I just played a couple of hours with the G3258 and an R9 270x and it has been playing well so far on Ultra.

Edit: I imagine I will end up having to lower some settings, will see how it goes.

Ha! I was expecting a much lower setting but am very happy my i5 +8GB and R9 280 are able to hold 60 fps on ultra.

Gave this a go last night for a few hours, my impressions of it anyway
    Pros:

Have mine running at 1440p, Ultra High Settings with a SweetFX Preset and always constant on 60 FPS. The performance of the game was been excellent so far for me.

Character customisation is heaps better than previous games (no traits though?)

I really like how 'powerful' the power armor is now, and that it's something that cannot be used indefinitely as a trade off to not make it completely overpowered.

Graphics are nice, I don't know why some people got pissed off over them.

Gunplay seems alot better. Things that are fast and nimble are harder to hit but things big and slow take a ton of damage.

Enemy AI seems to be alot better - e.g Deathclaw dodging to try avoid bullets

    Cons:
I really don't like how the conversations with NPC's are. It doesn't flow well at all. Sometimes they cut across conversations immediately or speak directly after you and just doesn't seem right. I think they should have definitely added more than 4 dialog choices. It seems to be the trade off by having your character voiced over but it personally seems very dumbed down now.

I kind of don't like how you are given everything on a plate very soon after you leave the vault - Base building, weapon/armor modding, Power Armor. I think if they introduced them all within the 10 hour mark would have been better.

As Duggy previously mentioned, UI and hotkeys are Muck.

That all being said, very impressed so far. Going to hop on for another game now :D

Annnd I'm back. Really had to force myself to go to the gym this morning. All I could think of was FO4 and this is my last day off work :(

Found a pretty big drawback in unlocking frame rates. Lockpicking really gets messed up. It's an almost instant turn and if you have it wrong, you break the pick.

Took the Idiot Savant perk. Man, when you get lucky and that think kicks in on quest completion, it is sweet. Triple XP from that quest, gave me a full level up and then some. Five times for the next rank.

Auto detecting settings is never a good idea. But I don't know why you thought that kind of hardware couldn't handle a game that looks like this... unless of course you took its reccomended specs seriously. There's games that look much better and are also open world that your system could handle no problem. You should have more trust in your machine! Ya oughta know what it can handle by now :D

Yea I noticed this too when I did it. It's actually very annoying so I'm after locking my frame-rate again. I hope they do something to fix it.

Anyone had any problems tabbing out while in game? When I tab out, and click back into the game the resolution is messed up and I have to restart the game.

I had that once last night, not noticed it since. I do have an issue though where, when I start the game, after about 10 seconds it cuts back to the desktop while still running. Just have to click the game in the taskbar again, so it's not too bad, but still slightly annoying.

None here and I've done it quite a bit.

So yesterday I played from 11.30-3am. Today I'm playing since about 2pm until now.

I've not even managed to leave Sanctuary yet. Hehe. Too busy building and did a little exploring around the immediate area (which I advise being careful about as there are mirelurks nearby and they pack a punch).
    Loving this game. :pac:

I have the same gfx card. What sort of FPS are you getting?

I've just updated my nvidia drivers to the latest which are 'gameready' for fallout 4. And set to optimize in that horrible geforce experience program.

I shall let you know how it goes.

For what it's worth I've got an i5-3350p 3.10ghz CPU and 16GB RAM also.

I think my HD is the bottleneck here. Really need to get an SD drive.

I'm getting ropey performance, playing at 4K but I have a 980Ti. Framerate all over the place and feels stuttery.

That Diamond City Radio dj is pretty much the opposite of Three Dog in every way possible.

What's the story with key bindings as well? I set custom keys and they work most of the item but ocassionally they revert to the original default key, which makes playing with keyboard pretty much impossible, I'll have to switch to gamepad. Any solutions?
