Also for those who couldn't be ars*d to follow the link: pre-loading apparently begins on steam at 9pm GMT today. Yay! :D

    Nothing for me.

Yeah GMG mentioned something about emails not going through for some reason.

For anyone else in the same boat, it's worth checking on your GMG account itself. There's a good chance it'll be on there.

Also preload just lit up for me on steam! :D

CDKeys said on FaceBook we'll get the codes 24-48 hours before the game is released. So, it'll probably be another couple of days.

CDKeys seems cheapest at the moment, yeah?

Game is installed, icon is on the screen, it would be nice just to create a character for now.

    RIP Modding.
I'm honestly a bit scared by this. I'm the current developer of NifSkope and I was relying on them using the BSA format so that I and the rest of the NifTools team could hopefully get to decoding the new NIF version as soon as possible. Of course assuming that they were still using the NIF format at all. Now that they've also changed their archive format, I'm a bit leery.

Which, btw, it would likely be much longer than a week without this development. It took over two weeks to get nif.xml and NifSkope updated reasonably to work with Skyrim NIFs, with much still undecoded. I verified this in the commit logs. But there were also many more people around back then, so I'm guessing it could take longer now.

Ironically, I just added a BSA browser into NifSkope, for opening NIF files directly from archives.

The reason I'm so concerned is why would they bother changing the file extension unless there was some kind of significant change? For example it's possible they're encrypting them now, and I'll explain why. Basically, now that 100% of Fallout 4 sales have modding in mind, the PC modding community becomes a minority. When working with Microsoft to bring modding to consoles, they likely had a list of demands. One of which was probably to keep third parties from being responsible for the data written to their consoles. How do you accomplish this? With some kind of DRM on the files, and only Bethesda's official modding tools to read and write the files. Microsoft would probably want the files to be signed (verified).

I just hope I'm being paranoid. We've always been secondary to consoles, but at least had modding to ourselves. Now that that's changed, our modding experience may also be secondary to consoles, so I don't think my paranoia is entirely baseless.

    RIP Modding.

That makes perfect sense if Bethesda have done this by encrypting the files and forcing mods to be verified. Nothing worse when modders dont use a uniform standard be it naming convention or file association.

BIkey seems to work ok for the Arma series.

Are we still locked at 60 FOV?

No confirmation of that yet. Haven't seen leaked options menus and it would be hard to verify if .ini or launch options can't do it until its in the hands of more users.

You clearly have a lot experience with mods.......

The best mods would never get 'verification' because of copyright issues, pollitical correctness or 'ruining the intended experience'.

    sigh......

Its the file that is verified not the content...

    from your post.....
and only Bethesda's official modding tools to read and write the files. Microsoft would probably want the files to be signed (verified).

Altho anything containing copyrighted material shouldnt be a in mod.
