I'm on EI604 from Gate 305, looking out on EI-CVB, the returned DUB - MAN flight, three fire tenders followed the aircraft to the gate. Pax disembarking at the moment.

Affirmed, taxied in on her own power, 3 tenders went to stand with her, 4 returned to the station. Say thats the last thing you want to be seeing sitting on a plane

Especially when 90% of the flight is heading to old Trafford for the game later!

A lot of very nervous folk on that now thinking they maybe cancelled.

    Probably pre maintenance test flight

It flew from Madrid, to about 50 miles off Mayo, then turned back to Shannon. It just landed. 'Pre' maintenace flight more likely.

Egypt air cargo MSX530 just airborne out of SSH bound for STN. Could this be bringing home English holiday makers hold baggage in bulk?

Maybe, but I would have thought they would have been transported by ship considering the recent safety precautions.

Can't see any other reason for the routing. Egypt air cargo all go through Cairo. Wonder are the Russians doing the same? There has been a Russian sky airlines IL76 up and down to Moscow about twice a day the last 2 to 3 days.

Interesting gusts for ORK, DUB and NOC too. Could make for an interesting morning.

Only looked at SNN and it's 260 degrees so shouldn't effect traffic too badly nearly down the runway.

That's later in the afternoon, early morning is 190 degrees. 260 is a westerly and the runway is southwesterly so not exactly fownt the runway either.

Looking now the first of the TATL's will arrive around 5:30 when the wind will be a strong (around 22 G 38) SE/SSE, quite a strong crosswind element in that case

I see RYR 8781 from Gdansk in holding pattern for ORK - weather related?
He's just landed, I'd say it was "entertaining" enough with the wind at 20kt, gusts up to 34kt.

Could be some tricky landings in cork coming up in next hour or so...
    2 ATR's inbound between 10 and 10.30. Wind currently 25kts gusting to 37kts.

Cork 190degrees 25kts G41 now, rain with 9000m. I think wlthe prohibiting factor for that Ryanair may have been the heavy rain with 5000m vis earlier.

Dublin 150degrees 18kts G28, not as bad as Cork but as that wind starts to strengthen and veer more southwesterly it may cause a few problems.

Won't let me insert a photo but the stobart from Manchester to cork is flying very low. At 12000ft approaching Dublin.

Noticed that, 12,000ft is quite unusual, stobarts usually fly at 18,000-24000ft. Any possible reasons for this?

    Pressurisation

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 581 ✭✭✭pepe the prawn

I would imagine if it was pressurisation they would be flying lower than 12 or more likely not flying at all.

Edit: but I may be wrong.

Herself flew to Stansted from Cork aroind half 6 this morning and was saying it was a fairly uncomfortable take off! I can only imagine landing would be much harder

Two peculiar holds over Navan bout an hour ago, maybe longer. One was a Stobart and it seemed unusually low. You could almost see their faces :-) The other was a 737 I think. Was in and out of the clouds and I was walking dogs in the rain. The strange thing was it was flying away from the airport but with the gear down. Anyway ....

Stobart wasn't holding it was turning base-finals at 3500ft or so and the other was probably dangling the dunlops to help it slow down in the strong winds.
