Minimum Pc requirements seem very high, higher than Gta v. I'm able to (just about) run Gta V on my current Pc but I don't meet any of the minimum requirements for this, in graphics card, memory or processor.
Are Bethesda being overly cautious? Or do I just need to actually upgrade?

    What are your specs?

I think the requirements are ridiculously overcautious, and they don't even make sense.

A HD7870 is literally twice as fast as a 550ti, they can't both be minimums. The recommended spec cards are both on-par. The AMD equivalent of the 550ti would be something like a 6770.

If your PC can run GTA V this will be fine.

It could be that they've climbed into bed with nVidia though and therefore have better performance on their chipsets.

If you're only barely running GTA, I'd hold off and wait to hear what the internet has to say about its performance before pulling the trigger - if there are performance issues, we won't be long hearing about them :)

    Day 1.

With any luck the community is already working on the assets.

Who doesn't want giant, green and muscly super mutant boobs?

I hope to God you're joking

Nah, no game has a disparity that big. Also, if that were true, there would also be a disparity in the recommended spec, but there isn't. The recommended spec's are identical class/performing cards.

Anyone with a 'minimum' 7870 will be able to run the game on high I would say. It's close enough to the Nvidia GTX760.

    LEAKED FOOTAGE

Some info I'm hearing from the leak...

Entire map can be crossed in 11 minutes (and not even taking a straight line)

    No enemies could stop him.

FoV limited to 60 with no way to change even via config/ini. (unconfirmed)

I was on the fence about buying this within the first month... but now I can see I should wait the better half of a year before this seems playable. What a joke.

The FoV one is the only one that bothers me (and it bothers me greatly), the map crossing in 11 minutes not so much, could do New Vegas and FO3s map in around that time too I wager if you were moving as fast as in that webm.

Seen that mentioned on reddit last night. You have to remember you can sprint in this game now and he is moving pretty fast across the map in fairness.

without looking at it - and i'm not going to either - do ye know if it's a pre-release (ie before it went gold 2 weeks or so back) or the full version? Has it been cracked to make him uberpowered? Speedhacked? Modded? etc..

iirc didnt the bethesda devs say it was easily as large as the map in skyrim?

It's much flatter and easier to navigate, but it looks like it could come sorta close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,769 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

that's fair enough, the map in skyrim took me weeks to get through and tbh i dont think i ever actually seen all of it even with 400+ hours sunk into the game

    Larger map != better

I'm more worried about enemies being unable to kill you. There is absolutely no sense of danger, survival or need to prepare if you can run past everything on the surface.

60 FoV is a bother too since there's people who literally cannot play games with low FoV without feeling ill. I myself sometimes get headaches but more than anything I just bloody hate it because I feel like I'm aiming down sights 100% of the time with an invisible gun.

And although I usually don't make too much fuss about map size... this was ON FOOT. It'd be ok if you had max stamina and perhaps some speed or sprint perks with power armour that's fast too. But on foot, unleveled from one end to the other (and minimum enemy resistence) in 11 mintues.

For the reasons I explained, yes. Something hard to understand about that?

Unless you think I should buy a game despite it clearly showing from the leaked footage that it has things I think make it awful, just so I can see again that it does indeed suffer from such issues.

What kind of logic is that?

Guess I should go buy Arkham Knight now just to be sure it performs like trash. Oh and all the DLC just to make sure it's as lacking in content as I've seen.

There's no spoilers. Just running forward in a 3D enviornment. The only 'spoilers' is the flaws I've mentioned. I'm happy to have such things 'spoiled'. Saves me money.

Not really a spoiker but I dont believe that stuff. Anyway, fack off, and use spoiler tags

The only thing unconfirmed is the FoV. I doubt it can't be hacked in some way or another eventually. Perhaps a mod if need be.
    Why should I fack off?

because you're posting information about a game that isn't out yet without putting it behind spoiler tags?

If the map size is comparable to Skyrim then I don't see it as a problem. It's all the stuff in between that makes it interesting.

Can do that all in Fallouts when outside. You have played these before yeah?
