Well i had a big post written with what i thought are the positives and negatives of Warframe but boards decided to get messed up on me and i lost the post:(

Heres some thoughts on it though

The game can be quite obtuse at the beginning, once you learn the mechanics though it really opens up. Game is quite fast paced, especially playing with higher level players. So far the RNGrind is not so bad imo, playing a lot over the last few weeks but ive managed to get 4 new warframes and a heap of weapons which add plenty of variety and playstyles. Enemy variety isnt great, and is probably the biggest problem i have with the game. The variety doesnt come from the missions or the enemies,it comes from the different warframes and how each can be used to approach missions in different ways. I would like to see more enemy factions though.
Business model is ok,i spent a few quid on the game on console and certainly dont regret it. I plan to do the same on PC when i get a platinum discount as a log in reward, which are not available on console.

Im now making the switch to PC permanently as mates on console are not on enough for me and the game is certainly better in when played with people imo, although going solo is a viable option.

If anyone wants to jump on and get a bit of help at the start add me and id have no problem helping someone starting out. Or indeed if regular players just want someone to run missions with add me also. GT: EL_CHORIZO.

Im not too far along on PC but i reckon i wont be long levelling up as understanding how it works is a big help.

Finished up playing Bastion, which I'm pleased about because I've had too many games that I've left unfinished. Strike one more off the list. ;)

I was struggling to play anything the last few days (Darksiders 2 isn't clicking as well with me), so i booted up Inquisition and started a new playthrough (Female Elf Mage). Still fun to play, though I doubt I'll get through the entire game.

Been playing Vermintide and a bit more Darkest Dungeon, but I picked up Stasis in the Greenman halloween sale last night. Really decent discount for such a recent game, and I've been absolutely itching to play it since it was released at the end of August so I had to grab it. Been about 2 and half hours into it, and so far I'm impressed, but it's got it's flaws. The fact that this was a 2D isometric game hooked me right away, and honestly it is nothing short of absolute gorgeous! Classic point & click gameplay is wonderful, something we don't see too much of these days. I'm also a bit of a sucker for sci-fi horror, and while I often times find horror games hard to handle, this struck a great balance for me because although there's a couple of jump-scares (I really hate jump-scares, I find it's a cheap tactic), it's the atmosphere that I really love. It's brooding, creepy and gruesome, and it is glorious! :D

The few flaws there are aren't too bad, I've noticed the main character sometimes has weird pathing issues when you click on something and he'll walk around a longer way to get to it, it seems a bit odd. But the main issue I have with the game is the puzzles, they can be extremely counter-intuitive sometimes, so much so that I find myself trying to brute-force my way through things by randomly trying item A, B and C with object X, Y and Z, sometimes even combining object A and C together. Sometimes it's hilarious though, I ended up using something on the wrong thing and then getting a face full of acid. So far I've gotten 3 achievements just for dying horribly, Dissolved, Melted and Eaten. :o

    Good game!

Played GTA V over the weekend, playing around with the Director Mode. And I just finished the first episode of Telltale's The Walking Dead. Just patiently waiting for WWE 2K16 and Fallout 4 to really mess up my sleeping patterns, especially the latter :P

Been really, really into Stasis tonight. What a magnificently creepy game it is, and the fact that it manages to be this effective is a testament to how creative the devs of this game are. With the 2D isometric viewpoint, you're quite far removed from the action, but the game manages to pull you right into the world because of just how incredible the sound design is, that combined with some seriously gruesome visuals, it gets under your skin and is seriously unsettling. It is way more horrifying than you might think a point & click adventure game could be. I absolutely LOVE this! :D

    Except...
And I really wish there wasn't an issue, but some of them damn puzzles. I had a really good run where all the puzzles seemed to flow and have fairly logical answers, challenging enough not to be too obvious and giving you a great 'A-HAH!' moment sometimes. But then I hit some really, really obtuse bits that I had to resort to looking up a walkthrough to get past, and I really hate to do that, it kills me because it breaks my immersion in the game. There's been a couple of moments like that now, and it's gotten to be a pretty big flaw.

Playing The Old Republic again, and really enjoying it. The latest patch has improved things again, and the new content is supposed to be some of Bioware's best. They've really changed it to be a solo experience, so it's even more like KotOR3 then it ever has been.

Will try get some Vermintide time this weekend though.

Been playing mostly CSGO and Mad Max lately, Mad Max is surprisingly good. I'll be looking to pick up some Halloween sale games over the weekend however.

Guild Wars 2 expansion, quite good - very tough initially but brings in new gameplay elements in stages without massive grind, and good deal of personal choice. Quite impressed with that, have to say.

Faster than Light. Infuriating but brilliant. I can't even ****ing win, even if I cheat and give myself many many moneys. I keep going back for punishment though.

I'd been kinda lamenting that there's a few games I started that I never finished, so yesterday I thought it was the perfect time to get back into The Evil Within. I'm onto chapter 9 now, in the mansion, and holy ****ing god damn it all to hell I remember how heartstopping this game was! Playing a bit more Stasis tonight as well, and I've been dying horribly in both an awful lot. :o

I don't do well with horror games, really freaks me out.

Just discovered Trine. It's fun and quirky but really frustrating at times trying to figure out how to get the experience points bottles

The walking dead on xbox 1.

Not really challenging but enjoying the scene by scene plot and different outcomes that can happen. Best part is it was free with gold membership.

Also playing quiet a bit of forza 6 and tiger woods 2013 (really have to get the new mclroy game)

So I finished up Stasis, it was good, and I didn't run into many more irritating puzzles. At 6 and half hours, it was rather short but sweet, but it was a damn impressive game. I wouldn't say there's much replay value though, unless you're an achievement collector.

Having only briefly played 3 and not being grabbed by it at all, I very much won't be in that camp.

I was a bit put off by all the new mechanics to deal with at the time and it just felt a bit alien to me because of the slightly creepy-looking Bethesda graphics.

However, I did see Day9 streaming New Vegas recently and I was somewhat intrigued.

Part of Skyrim's problem was how **** the combat mechanics were, but guns are a lot more straightforward to get right than first person melee and magic.
The other issue was how artificial the world felt - not graphically but from the standpoint of the plot and characters.

Can one reasonably expect that Fallout 4 will be better on that front? I know Fallout and TES are the same publisher and engine, but are they the same developer as well?

I was under the impression that Fallout 3 and NV were very highly praised for how well realised the world was.

Played Alien Isolation over the weekend. Really atmospheric. A good game

i bought that last halloween and it scared the jaysis out of me enough to never play it again :D

but yeah, it's really decent if that's your thing :)

Playing a lot of massive chalice at the moment and I love it! Got it in a humble bundle and I'm looking forward to playing Grim Fandango after a few playthroughs.

Been playing the Talos Principle and really enjoying it. Except for the bloody shape fitting puzzles. Im terrible at those kind of puzzles. Shame as excluding that its a great game.

So, booted up DmC for the first time, grabbed it in the Capcom Bundle. Wow, that opening sequence definitely was a reminder I wasn't in this game's target audience. :o Fun stuff so far, just did the first level. It's making me feel like firing up Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance again though. I may actually do that at some point.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,944 ✭✭✭✭Links234

Been playing a bit more DmC today and yesterday, pretty fun ;)

Also booted up MGR again, and I'm somewhere in the middle of the Blade Wolf DLC and getting my ass beat horribly, I forgot how tough this game was. :o

^ Funny enough, I streamed DMC4:SE today as a request for a viewer.

Then I went back to Shinobido from PS2 (emulating on PCSX2). Been playing that game for a decade now I think. Never gets old.

I finished The Witcher 2 last week. Steam says it took 34 hours but I think it was more like 20. I kept the game running while I was alt+tabbed an awful lot. I did mostly just the main quest.

I've started The Witcher 3 now. Seems just as good if not better. Graphics are insanely good. I'm not a huge fan of the open world side of it. I have around 10 quests going at the moment. I feel like I'm paralysed by choice. I will probably just do the main quest or whatever narrative draws me the most along the way. I won't be doing quests just for the sake of being a completionist. Life is too short for that imo.

The best quest in Witcher 3 is a side quest and its call Family Ties, make sure you see that one tru ;)
