Going to go with an energy weapons build this time I think, first time ever in a Fallout, I always go for boring rifles. There is just something so satisfying about the sniper rifles though, that ka-ching! noise when you make a headshot.

Definitely a laser weapon build for me, heavy into Science and Intelligence. It's very satisfying vaporizing people with random energy weapons.

Less than two weeks left folks!

I expect I'll go science etc, given of how much customization there looks to be and upgrading of your suit / base.
I can see Science really helping out there.....not sure how they'd implement melee into helping it.

Hope they completely change that godawful hacking mechanic this time aswell, always enjoyed the lockpicking though.

So is there a way to pre-order outside of Steam yet still have the option of preloading?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,769 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

ye can buy a key from any of the usual places off of steam for steam if that's what ye mean?

ye'd be paying less offsite but still activating and preloading/playing on steam - just be sure ye dont buy a version that's localised in russian or greek or something :D

Big Leagues perk looks good, but I've never put any points into Melee in any of my Fallout characters (it just wasn't beneficial in the early game when there would be a big mob and you had to run up to each of them) some of the weapons were hilarious though.
It says a 'chance' to do cripple or knock their heads off...I'd like to know the % .

Does anyone put points into Melee here ?
Unarmed and Melee both are extremely good in New Vegas (can't say much for 3). In Fallout 1 and 2 they are somewhat strange, but also very good, especially unarmed with Mega Power Fist and some AP-cost reducing traits and perks.

Yeah I was wanting to get it off GMG but didn't want to miss out on the preload as I was assuming they send out the keys on release instead of before.

Just be certain before ye buy the key anyway - i know some places do that too. If in doubt fire them off an email

I paid the extra €20 just to make sure i had it ready immediately. Not waiting till some time on the afternoon of the 10th, followed by a 30-50gb download, when i could be playing. Normally don't do that, but this is Fallout after all.

I'm thinking with the amount of customization you can do, you will probably be able to make energy-sniper rifles. pewpewpew :P

Yeah definitely they're hardly going to dump the Gauss rifles. Wonder if they'll be more forgiving of a Jack-of-all-trades type character this time around though, I dont like being limited to certain weapons classes.

Am I the only one who never bothers with energy weapons?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,210 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

I never bother with them either but I was going to do it this time for a change but now I cant decide.

I had my first Fallout 4 dream last night. I dreamt it was release day, and I was downloading the game when I woke up.

Realising there was still 10 days to go, I was not best pleased.

Still no sign of CDKeys Steam key, anyone remember what they were like for AAA releases in the past?

Is it pre-loadable on Steam yet?

I'm guessing once it is, they will e-mail steam keys.

Here's hoping. They say "This product is a Pre-Order, it will be avaliable here on or slightly before the release date of 10th November 2015. "

The typo doesn't inspire confidence, but I suppose we'll see.

They are usually very good - iirc they post the exact date and time they have the keys or a decent ETA on their site and social media fb/etc..

I was watching the 22 minutes video there (again) and one of the customisations I noticed was indeed a "Plasma sniper rifle" - was one of the things they scanned through.

Vast majority of key sites wont send the key till the release day, so you won't be able to pre-load.

Pre-load isn't available yet anyway, but it will be before launch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,210 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Im not worried about preloading that will take 10 minutes on my landlords connection, Im worried about getting into a back and forth exchange over money with a key selling site while everyone else is playing Fallout!

I'll probably be on the character creation screen for a few hours anyway :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,769 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

Thargor, in that case i'd hold off on buying anywhere til you know for certain that you'll get the key within a few minutes/instantly

and yeah i wouldn't want to be that position either with Fallout4, hairpulling frustration.

Yeah Kiith lol the customisation looks deadly too

I'd love to be able just take a photo of me, and scan it in and go with that. :P
