As far as I'm aware Martin Maloney (Eddie) and Owen Colgan (Buzz) are not in 'regular' employment instead concentrating on The Bucks and other acting bits. I couldn't say for the other lads.

The Viper is on the Republic of Telly and has been for a few years now, Maloney used to be too but haven't seen him on it in a bit.

Think I saw somewhere that Buzz was trying the comedy circuit.

First episode on are player NOW!! Not bad, but not as good as the early years, particularly the first ever Internet episodes. Same crowd about. No Alouicious yet or Scorpio and Sammon (although he is in next episode) Caoimhe from FC and that hot red head from Love Hate (charlie something??) Are in.

As I said middling enough premiere, hopefully will pick up.

i thought they made up with he viper in the movie but they still dislike him now. even sammon seems different going by the next episode. RIP hardy bucks im afraid to say

    I
think you have to discount the movie, especially the Viper bit. It would be terrible if he became a mate of the boys although their wasn't the level of disdain between the boys and Viper, was there?

The lads are also getting a little older and a lot of their college humour may be dissipating. Nevertheless still very watchable.

Sorry spoiler not working on phone but don't think what is written is over spoilerish

    My favourite ever Buzz quote......

(To Noirin after she makes and brings him a cup of tea)

    "Any biscuits"

    "I....HAVE"

Buzz (looking away from her and drinking his tea)......"Get them"

You could see the actress that plays Noirin just pissin herself laughing as she escaped into the kitchen! It was just so brilliantly delivered!

That's right he is. Buzz has a funny podcast I think. Or he did. I'm not too sure about that actually.

    Thought it was so so.
A few good laughs but nothing side splitting.

    It could do with improving

They were on Anton Savage on Thursday. Martin is living in Sweden and is an event manager for his mate's pub. Owen does stand up around Dublin. Was my first time hearing Martin's natural accent. Totally opposite to Eddie's.

His wife is Swedish so that makes sense. It's been about two years now since I last saw them. Decent skins. I remember crazy times. Feeling nostalgic now. And old :p

I enjoyed the first episode, few good laughs.

The show seems to have lost it's originality and morphed into every comedy programme on RTÉ ever, even with John Colleary filling in his token, dopey Garda role. It's a bit like a 25 minute Republic Of Telly sketch now, which to be fair isn't a good thing. Buzz is still funny, Eddie and Francis not so much. I think they're getting a bit long in the tooth for playing out the same tired storylines. But meh, it was still funny in parts.

I really enjoyed it, although it felt at times like it was a pilot episode the way they were introducing charachters, some very funny scenes but felt it just lacked a small bit of cohesion at times. The first 5 minutes or so felt like it was trying to be a parody of a soap but as it went on, it felt like a normal episode. Next week's one looks quite promising.

It was an imposter of an episode if you ask me.

It looked and sounded like the Hardy Bucks but it just wasn't them.

    It's lost it's realism

i thought it wasn't bad, funny enough. it is what it is...its never going to be slick and awesome but it makes me laugh. Buzz is the main man IMO, as someone mentioned in one if the post's though, do we really need a 'silly' guard type in it?

Especially one that acts and looks like he should be in Killinaskully, not HB. Kofe was a superb character and slightly underused.

i thought it was funny, like they forgot about the last rte series and went back to the youtube craic and mixed in a bit of professional comedy set ups to make it a bit more mainstream....over all love it.

Maybe I was a bit harsh but it used be a mockumentary but the first episode just looked like a TV show.

They change in the production didn't detract from it imo. The scene with the young girl robbing the Garda bike was a little lame, but I really enjoyed it overall.

It's got RTE's grubby fingerprints all over it now, really annoying how RTE use nearly every show as a vehicle to give certain people work. They've completely missed the point of what made it funny in the first place.

Haven't watched it yet but who are the "certain people" you're referring to?

If Ryan Tubridy is in it I'll be angry.

Cast members of love/hate, John Colleary, I'm sure a few more will pop up throughout the series.

they're bad examples in fairness as both come from independent productions, and are decent choices.

What happened that lanky fella who used to hang around with The Viper? seems Sim Card has taken his place as his hired gimp.

I think youre on about Dragon? He didn't appear much in the last series either. Was he in the film?

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 18,297 Mod ✭✭✭✭CatFromHue

Ah he was in the last series a fair bit, as much as Stateside anyway. He was in the film too but only for a small bit, the same as Stateside.

It was a good episode, not a great episode, to borrow a phrase.

    Noireen is something else though!

I feel it's got a touch too professional on the filming, half the fun of series 1/2 was that it had the deliberate lashed together feel even though there was a load of work gone in to making it look that way.

Decent actors for the most part. Don't see a problem with that, depends on who they are now of course.
John Colleary, I'm sure a few more will pop up throughout the series.

One of the best comedians in the country - not used enough in my opinion.

There's a small pool of actual decent actors in this country (there's a huge pool of medicore/shi*te ones) so it's no surprise to see the same faces again and again.

RTE don't force casting decisions on people normally - I've heard of them vetoing people but never of them insisting certain people get parts in scripted shows.
