Was looking back over some old episodes on You Tube, both RTE stuff and their own filming. It really though it was great stuff. Although I suppose not everybodys cup of tea. The episode where they are going for the interview still makes me laugh out loud....:)

the movie was great too. (not great as in "apocalypse now" but very funny)

I don't think you'd ever be able to top your getting with that Russian one in series 2, sammo. I think it's always going to be downhill from there, I'm afraid.

Ahh here, I was on the phone to her at least two years ago.

Yeah the original youtube stuff they made themselves 5,6 years ago is fantastic. I still go back and watch a few every now and then. Never thought it translated well to television though.

I reckon rte made them tone it down. Their YouTube stuff is by far the best. Still going to watch the new series though.

Ah I dunno, I think some of their best stuff is on the RTE shows. I mean that one where they get broadband in the cottage, actually most of season 2, is brilliant.

I never thought they translated well to TV when they were being interviewed in character but I thought their shows translated well.

Just out of curiosity what aspect do you think RTE made them tone it down in?

Was reading in The Times and seemingly they had a second film ready to go but it was based on the lads going to Australia and they were worried it would look too much like an Inbetweeners copy so they canned it. Think they've a different plot now for a second film.

Also mentioned that at one stage they were in talks with BBC3 about their show too but nothing happened.

Thanks be to God they didn't go ahead with it. Their last film was gack compared to the series.

You're only saying that as there was no crazy, sexy, Russian lady in the film :D

They're showing Season 2 on RTE at the moment, they're on the player too, and episode 4 is on this week so I'm guessing the new series will start in 3 weeks then.

Shorts and TV episodes work for something like Hardy Bucks. The film they made was a classic example of the mistake where you try to take something that was successful in a shorter format and then stretch the joke out about an hour too long.

Just saw an ad on RTE 2, they're back on the 26th.

Certainly looks a bit slicker on the production side of things.

Heard there not as friendly drunk in real life as there depicted in the series

Looking forward to the return though

They probably get all kinds of drunken eejits coming up to them quoting lines and generally being irritating, I imagine that gets tiresome after a while, I could understand if they do tell people to f*ck off sometimes.

They were looking for extras last Summer to be on the show.

I would have loved to be on the show :(

    Mayo is so far away.

watched the first episode on the player. id give it about 4/10 something different about it compared to other seasons. no reference to the movie outing.

    I
didn't like it. It didn't seem real (like the other series and film did), it changed some of the characters (almost revisionist like), and I didn't laugh watching it. I'm pretty disappointed. I've grown to love the characters but they seemed to have changed to something I don't know

i thought they made up with he viper in the movie but they still dislike him now. even sammon seems different going by the next episode. RIP hardy bucks im afraid to say

    I
would have to say RIP too :( .Frenchtoast, big Mick, and even The Boo wouldn't act like they did in tonight's show. The past episodes were much slower movers so you got to know the characters and it was very much a character driven show where you got to see the characters talking to each together. Tonight's show was more event driven with much less dialogue.

like when they all invaded noreanns house, if this was the old hardy bucks they would of done something mental but they all arrived indivdually and the fight scene with french toast was embarrassing. Remember sammons stag when they had a party in micks farm that was funny

    yeah
it almost felt like a reboot, where they've actually changed the characters, and not the next series. The way the guys acted last night doesn't seem to tie into past series.

For example look at the Garda, first there was Kofi as the local Garda, then the actually Gardai themselves as the lads got arrested, so this new dopey Garda doesn't make sense.

Even the text they use is different than the other 2 series

Out of curiosity are these lads making a wage off this in real life or do they all have "normal/regular" jobs?

As far as I'm aware Martin Maloney (Eddie) and Owen Colgan (Buzz) are not in 'regular' employment instead concentrating on The Bucks and other acting bits. I couldn't say for the other lads.

Owen Colgan (Buzz) and Pete Cassidy (French Toast) are two of the nicest people you could ever meet.
