I raced against her (sorry, followed her from an increasingly large distance) in the two handed race from Howth a few weeks ago. She is quite a sight alright.
She just waited till all the Argo at the start was finished and then sailed around everyone and disappeared off to Rockabill. Think she was second on corrected time in her class at the end of the day.
I was told she was the actual boat that was used in the film.

49 CREW POSITION; LIFELINES
49.1 Competitors shall use no device designed to position their bodies
outboard, other than hiking straps and stiffeners worn under the
thighs.
49.2 When lifelines are required by the class rules or the sailing
instructions they shall be taut, and competitors shall not position any
part of their torsos outside them, except briefly to perform a
necessary task. On boats equipped with upper and lower lifelines, a
competitor sitting on the deck facing outboard with his waist inside
the lower lifeline may have the upper part of his body outside the
upper lifeline. If the class rules do not specify the material or
minimum diameter of lifelines, they shall comply with the
corresponding specifications in the ISAF Offshore Special
Regulations.

ISAF website.

Technically you could argue that the crew member holding the spinnaker sheet was not facing outboard, but he may not be the spinnaker trimmer, he may be taking the slack out of the lazy sheet for the guy/girl who appears to be trying to retrieve it on the opposite side, which is covered by "except briefly to perform a necessary task". Well thats my understanding of that section, a rules expert may know better .

Yeah it's legal as long as you're inside the lower rail.

Just back from a delivery trip over to Cardiff. Left Sunday morning in lovely sunshine and light winds but we motored the whole way with a few hours of sail up. My phone battery died early monday morning so wasnt able to use my camera till the afternoon when we were near cardiff. Interesting entry into Cardiff bay through a lock system.

moon coming out sunday evening. We had a really bright moon when we went off watch around 1am but came back up about 4 to pitch black and an eclipse.


the green triangles are other vessels in the area showing up on the ais. that was few hours before approaching milford haven. when we had got past milford a mile or 2 we looked back to see what must have been a massive tanker lite up like a xmas tree coming out of milford. the stern area and bow section were so bright. about 5 minutes later the lights had been turned off and you could barely make out the nav lights as she steamed away

approaching the entarnce to cardiff. the water was very low and we were hitting the mud at times. the tides in the bristol channel are unreal and the water is a manky brown colour. That was at the bottom of the tide and the next high water was a 13 meter raise

there aswell. they are gone now as the locks control the water in the bay

On Sunday myself and my wife crossed from Howth Harbour to Dun Laoghaire to have some lunch with her family. I motored back on my own as it got a little choppier in the afternoon.
