    John Cleary is out ...disaster.

Typical. We don't win or try to win All Irelands (apart from the non Frank controlled ladies football and camogie teams) anymore in Cork. Were happy enough with dismal championship exits in both codes, hammerings from crap Kildare teams and building monuments. What a pathetic GAA county we have reduced ourselves to.

I wouldn't be thinking clearly is out of the running yet.
Nothing has officially been confirmed and last week proved how things changed.
He's the best available candidate and you would hope any demands he has like getting the best for cork should they arise would be met as Dublin and kerry have proved they leave no stone unturned in there quest for success.

Hopefully the management be announced next week as it's gone on way too long.
Kerry appointed a minor manager within eight days of loosing an all ireland final.
Under twenty one named jack in may and when the last senior job was up only around four weeks it took them to name fitzmaurice.
Nearly eight weeks for cork is too long.
County semi final and the all ireland final a manager should of been in place.

Training resumes next month cork need to act fast.
Dublin and kerry are already planning for next year .

Eamonn Murphy has it on the back page of the Echo that Cleary will be named boss at Tuesday's meeting. Did Frank bow the knee I wonder?

I don't know where this talk last night came from that he was out of the running.
He was not at all at all.
As I said last week I expect him to be Manager
If anything he's just probably making sure things are as he wants before he goes in.

Cork are in an ideal place as mayo and I feel sorry for them are in huge trouble but as people know here i didn't have to wait til the summer to realise mayo joint management was never going to work as I said all year and didn't belive the hype after a draw against a Dublin team that were just warming up that mayo management would not work
Joint management don't work and you need one man
Roscommon unfortunately haven't learnt the basics either in too many chef spoil the broth in mcstay who is good manager imo would be good on he's own but so too is mcdonnell roscommon but I can't see both being successful as joint management

When an outside manager goes in he usually needs he's own men and mcdonnell imo such independent management i can not see it working
O grady and Ryan in limerick proved it didn't work
While not joint management Cunningham and boland who good manager and strong character was never going to work with Cunningham when he didn't get the job himself
    He left this year

Cork if management are correct have a huge opportunity for top four next year
I feel for the mayo management but they should never have been appointed
Unfortunately they should resign as once players loose faith in management it's the right thing to do.

He's dead right, has to do the job on his terms, no one else's. I hope whoever is approached for the hurling gig does the same.

This whole situation is a huge mess ...who do they go for now as they wanted Cleary to take it asap ...but did not like his plans which were progressive and professional....

    Fairplay CorkDouble.

Tony Leen just confirmed on Twitter that Cleary is out of contention.

    What a mess.

    http://www.southernstar.ie/sport/roundup/articles/2015/10/02/4106902-exclusive-cleary-confirms-he-will-not-be-next-cork-senior-football-manager/

Another turn in such a long drawn out story at this stage.
Cork double you were right fair play
Once clearly went back in the running by past week reports in the media it seemed obvious he would be there but s I should have known cork gaa you can't be sure as there's always a twist.
You couldn't actually make up this story the way it's unfolded, in the running then out of it etc.

You would think that it would go to one of the only other three candidates named and the most qualified.
At this stage I wouldn't be shocked if appointment was not made Tuesday and another person named outside the original candidates.

It says work was one of the reasons
However you would think there's others as if it was work he would have ruled himself out straight away surely.

However if was other reasons you would hope every support was given to give him the job in the first place.
Surprisingly Murphy ran with such a story and leen and other kerry people seemed to dismiss it straight away
Murphy is normally on the ball.
It's strange he would run with a story and that evening and then it changes again.

Fair play to cork double and to the kerry journalists as they seem to know more about cork gaa which shows kerry take huge huge interest in cork gaa and in my opinion they must be amazed at how this story has unfolded and the length it took when the last minor and under twenty one and senior job in kerry was sorted in the latest time of one month.
The Football story doesn't actually look good for the hurling and who gets the football job now is like trying to pick the lotto, you don't know who will get it now.

On a postive note the cork ladies football team are on the late late later.

    Fair play
I'd say you didn't want to be right as you wanted clearly.

Ger McCarthy is talking about another west cork former player getting it?? surely larry? how could the any of the other 3 candidates take the job at this stage? I understand they haven't been spoken to in 2 weeks...............cleary was the best candidate don't know where we go from here. New murphys stoy was wrong when the 'great' nicks club delegate and 96fm reporter finbar McCarthy questioned it...........

Thanks Figsy 32 I don't make up storys as some might think ....but this is a sad day once again for Cork football ...John Cleary had this job ...but some people just wanted control ...its just sick sick I hope the Cork senior football panel will now stand up and not take this crap anymore.

    Was he offered the job
It's saying work commitments but you would wonder
There's nothing the panel can do if he ruled himself out now you would think

Ladies football team on late late show but typical crap from RTE, gay marriage had to be mentioned . I'm sure people would have preferred to hear a few words from Eamonn Ryan.

    What happened with clear?

Larry said week ago he was interested in the paper but wasn't mentioned as the four contenders
How can he be now in there
It means have no faith in the other three
Surely Fitzgerald or English deserve a go

I'll support cork football all the time but if management go in and unless it's back room team that's proven I won't be loosing too much sleep going forward as unless it proven back room team imo means cork football isn't been taken seriously so it hard for me to
I'll still watch them but no point saying against other management as makes no difference and you just seen seem negative
I'll be following cork ladies as number one and if games clash they will get my choice
Fair enough if they don't I'll take in the football but the days of taking football seriously imo is hard unless good manager in place
Of course who ever gets the job you wish the best but it's not that simple in to success must have some record surely at club etc

Cork minor and under twenty one football have good set up
I look forward to there season with confidence

They should have had a sit down chat for 10 minutes with 3 or 4 players and Ryan, instead it was a proper rush job.
Had Dublin won 10 in 11 years they would certainly not have had the shabby/rushed effort our ladies got tonight.

Could Gene O'Driscoll be the other west cork man in the frame

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 417 ✭✭CORKDOUBLE

John Cleary had the job Frank and co wanted him to take it asap....he laid out his plans very professional ...frank said we will discuss things as they go along ...cleary knew this would be a recipe for trouble ...they would watch his every move ...he wanted things bonding weekends etc...no way would frank agree to that ....Donal og is correct our county teams are not going to get the resources needed to be able to compete at the top level ...

Cian O Neill leaving Kerry expected to be named the Kildare manager ...travelling from Douglas to Kildare big trip..big loss to Kerry.

I have heard John Fintan Daly could be interested in the Cork Job ...far too late for him now his time at this level has passed .

Brian Murphy the Bishopstown man who is a good coach and won leinster with the minor year ago is going in with him
He also made the under twenty one team competitive

That's a top management team for Kildare
Announced on the independent twitter earlier this morning

O Neill is a surprise however it won't weaken kerry if buckley goes in from mayo
In a way it's ideal for kerry as they need to freshen things up again
Just like kerry do have no doubt like the minor appointment they will get it right
Unlike cork kerry actually care about there football
    Have no fear of kerry

I would rate him hugely as a pundits and he's piece this year on kerry and referee was brilliant and he's done some coaching course in new Zealand however no way absoultey no way should he or anyone be involved in cork senior set up unless they have some level of proven coaching with a team, preferably a senior team even in the club scene
Larry as sean said is the likely candidate as Larry said he was interested before

If so back to running up the hills in macroom and little ball training.
But look they will reap what they sow
You appointment poor management you can't expect to be successful.
Look at Japan in the rubgy.
There's success in the world cup isn't just a coincidence.
Eddie Jones was proven with Australia, south Africa winning the world cup when he was assistant, every team he was with he had success.
In any sport you need proven management.
A very basic common logic yet cork gaa fails to understand the value of this time and time again.

John fintan daly didn't get it twenty years ago after success with duhallow and Cork under twenty one so it's unlikely he'll get it now.
