    Not as sacrilege?
Its like buying an old oil painting and "improving" it with crayons. Clarkson compared it to the Mona Lisa with a moustache and he's right.
Its like getting a grandfather clock, ripping out the works and putting one of those radio controlled weather stations from Lidl in there.
This car is diet coke, sugar free gum, non alcoholic beer or microwavable pizza.

Its porn with the sex scenes cut out.

No no, no! An AJ-V8 is a big, dirty-looking antichrist of a peteral injin and can't compare to a modern four-cylinder turbodiesel, even if the latter sounds like a bag of spanners and can't actually move the car in any gear above second! :D

i guess it's matter of opinion based.

just, from my point of view, the jag is a beautiful and very comfortable car. however, as we know, in ireland, a car like that, 15 years old with tax of €1800 p/a and mpg most likely into single figures, virtually nobody would want it. it would either end up parked in a field rotting or be traded in through a scrappage scheme for a new i30. that is pretty much the reality for that car.

i'm not saying in some sort other areas of the world it wouldn't be great to keep the original 4.0 supercharged v8 or whatever it had fitted, where tax and fuel were more realistically priced, obviously that would be great. i know we all understand though that there are really only a handfull of people who would have been interested in that car with the petrol engine in it, so his chances of ever selling it would be close to zero.

at least with the diesel in it, although it may not be the performance car it once was, it will live on. with mpg in the 40's and tax (reading between the sellers lines) of €710 p/a, that Jag will live on and be enjoyed for a few years to come please God.

i'd much rather see it live on as a diesel, that crushed into a cube, be parted out or rotting in a field.

i'm no diesel lover. i do a 150 mile a day commute in my petrol celica, it's great.

Wut? How long does it take you to get to work?

it's very varied time wise. 75 miles out and 75 back now, not 150 each way.

leave at 7.30 to be there for 9.15 this time of year.

now the schools are back and the mornings are getting colder and darker you'd want to be leaving closer to 7am. that and it's mostly single carriageway so if you end up behind an Eddie Stobart lorry which is stuck behind a Toyota Dnya towing a mini digger in an Ifor Williams trailer or the likes you can easily lose 5 or 10 minutes that way too.

the whole thing isn't too bad. the biggest problem as Clarkson would put it is the Celicas "fuel thimble", a 45 liter tank lasts around 2 days... sounds pathetic but it's actually inconvenient having to fill it so much.

Fair play to ya! I'd be knackered after that journey every day.

And here was me contemplating whether a 35 mile, 1 hour commute would be too long! (One way)

More of a "cooper and oonagh in the morning" person myself, hah. What has me excited though is my drive home will be getting a new presenter tomorrow. Ohh the excitement!

Come the drive home, it's Klub fm for me, powerful stuff if you're in the Cork area! What show is expecting a new presenter?

So today was a little different from most of my normal Sunday's. Today I moved out to Atlanta GA with work. I plan on being here for the next while so I'll be on/off on here anyway! I'll be over and back between Ireland and the U.S. over the next few years is the plan.

Motors related, this has meant parking up my Alfas in storage (fire proof storage :D) for the foreseeable future. Collected my rental for the next 6 weeks today too.

It's a Ford Fusion (Mondeo). It's the top spec one too, full leather, auto, reversing camera etc etc and most importantly, it's got that 2.0T ecoboost engine. It's an absolute peach of an engine and the whole car is actually really nice, drove it 300 odd miles today and really liked it.

Very very impressed. plan on doing allot of miles in it.

Have to soon take to the road, and there were reports that they were in a bad way lastnight. Looking at mets rainfall radar, it hasn't stopped raining over that direction, all night. Last thing I want on a Monday morning is a diversion and blocked roads :(

Finding a tail lamp for my car is proving too much hassle to find one at reasonable money, getting very annoying!

And of course I came upon a flooded road. Went through the first one, and I instantly regretted it. It's a miracle the water didn't come in the doors! Once passed that one I was informed by a lad in a jeep that there was 5 more floods ahead, which were knee deep.

Nonetheless, a 10 mile diversion included, I still made it for 9:10

Try €110 for a Spurious one which won't be in until the 29th or €170 for an OE Hella unit...

There was a release of the best of TG season 22 on torrent, I don't know if bbc aired it recently. It just had a few highlights the land rover on the dam in wales, lambo hurricane, and the hilarious peugeot episode.
