Regarding streaming the Xbox One to PC,

Has anyone had an error when connecting to the console fails mentioning that either the Xbox app on windows 10 or the Xbox One itself needs to be updated before trying again?

Its working fine for me but a friend is getting the error. He's on the latest version of the xbox app and the console is up to date also.

It says connected in the Xbox app but it wont stream.

    * Solved guys, Windows 10 N version needs a media pack download to be able to stream.

Some details about the upcoming dashboard update. Preview members will be getting it rolled out in the coming weeks. I've heard really good things about the quickness.

Yeah, here's the relevant details for getting it.
Here’s how it will work over the next couple of weeks:
    • We will roll this update out over time to Preview members who opt in for it. We’ll start with a set of Preview members who have historically submitted the most feedback - it will not roll out to everyone at the same time. Our goal is to start with a group, get feedback, then roll out to larger groups for additional feedback over time.
    • If you’re a member of the Xbox One Preview Program, you will get an invitation sent to you in an Xbox Live message.
    • From the invitation launch the Xbox Preview Dashboard and select the registration option.
    • You can then opt-in by selecting “Preview – New Xbox One Experience”.
    • If you choose not to participate in this update (you just leave your registration as preview), you will continue to receive “regular” Preview Program updates going forward. This will not remove you from the Xbox Preview Program.
    • New builds will regularly roll out over a period of several weeks to those who opt in, and our engineering team will work to improve the features and fix any bugs they identify throughout the preview testing.

I'll jump in anyway, did the same with windows 10 and it was grand.... mostly.

I wonder what their definition of feedback is though, I did loads of the surveys, polls, etc, but I don't think I can remember ever submitting a bug report.

    Bug feedback probably.

Let's hope the quality bar is nice and high for preview.

As soon as it's offered, I'll jump in. Did it with Win 10 on PC and Phone and it worked out ok ... on the PC. Mostly.
    But, it's grand now :)

Definitely going to test it as soon as it's available - I was testing Windows 10 right from the initial Technical Preview (and still doing so on the phone), and the Xbox insider preview should be at a much more stable and advanced stage considering it's only 2 months away.

The integration of Cortana looks very interesting on the Xbox. You can do loads of tasks while still playing by asking Cortana.

You can even string commands together like “Cortana, start a party and invite so and so”.

Let's just hope it understands us. Good look with unusual gamertags :)

"Cortana start a party and invite xxxSn1perN00bxxx"

    Good luck with that :P

It must be good if they are confident enough to let you send a text chat message via Cortana without interupting your game play.

I remember the difficulty some of the country folk had with the Kinect voice commands ;)

I wonder do we need the kinect camera for Cortana or will a normal headset do.

Calex has 205 points more than me on the preview app :P

Speaking of Calex I was thinking I hadn't seen him post in a while. He's closed his account: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/member.php?u=24782

Anyone know why or are you here under a new cover calex

So more details about the roll out has come out in the latest Major Nelson podcast, here are the highlights:
    • An invite will go out to everyone in the preview program very soon(it was meant to be yesterday, Sept 11)
    • If you opt into the NXOE, then you MAY be selected to join
    • Selection is based upon active feedback, so bug reports and the like, with the preview score being secondary

    Disappointing, but not terribly surprising.

I'm still here.... though I thought I'd mentioned that  Maybe not. Certainly the higher ups would have known about the issues I had.

Had some problems a few months back but all is well again.

No preview of new dash for me. I wasn't expecting it either not being US score was inflated by doing what we all do and accepting the quests quitting and completing them :pac:

    I didn't know :o

    Very glad your back!

Wait, is there anyone that actually does those quests?

Anyway, the guy who was on the podcast has since semi-retracted what he said about the start date, but the messages should still go out in the next week.

I do those quests ( haven't filed a bug yet, though, just too unwieldy to type).

So, I'll see if it's enough to qualify for the first few waves

Thinking about it. It makes perfect sense what they are doing by sending invite to the people who report issues as much as possible they will be able to fix the issues sooner.

Than say if they invited me they'd probably never hear about the issue unless it was a major one and really grinded my gears
