I can't look at it right now because I'm out but I don't think there was anything we physically needed to bring. I'll post again when I get home but you could easily take all the stuff they give you to Dublin as it is only the size of an envelope.

ok thanks great issue is though I have not received the letters yet and I might even get over to dublin this week and im guessing i'll the letters on monday. if it's just letters with some passwords i'll get over this week if not and i need the physical copies for whatever reason ill wait untill i have them and get over next week instead.

Does it say anything about that you have to bring the paper itself to orientation or anything like that? reason i'm wondering is because i need to get to dublin latest next week monday so i can look for accommodation but i don't want to leave without the paper in case i need the physical copy. I don't live in ireland either so once i leave i wont be returning home

    Hi,

You'll need the document for email, username and passwords. That's how everyone gets their timetables. DCU won't contact you through your personal email after you register, only your DCU one. You're going to need stuff on it for the college moodle system. There's also information with who you contact about registration and orientation. You're better off bringing all physical communication with you anyway. Don't forget your acceptance letter and proof of student number and proof of payment of fees as well. They're definitely going to ask for that, as they won't allow you to collect your ID

Ok thanks for the information I'm guessing the welcome letter will contain student number orientation etch. And payment of proof letter will be sent as soon as the payment has been made? Could get sticky as I will be in Ireland by then so ill probably will have to contact registration today

Your proof of payment should be your bank transfer or cheque receipt. If you haven't paid already, which you should do ASAP, as online registration starts this Monday coming. you should remember to reference the payment with your student number and your name. Then it will be credited to you, for registration. If you want peace of mind, email the fees office with your student number 5 working days after you've paid. And they'll confirm that they've received the payment. Print off the email and bring it for ID collection. That's what I'm doing. If you're receiving any grant for fees, print off any info about that as well. You should phone DCU about this before you leave for college, if you are unsure.

What's with all this "tough course" crap? What you find tough doesn't mean anyone else might. I'm just excited to start. I've heard from numerous people that my course isn't that hard at all (business studies)

    Hi,

I'm glad you're excited about your course, and good for you. But about 12 exams over the two semesters sounds tough to me. And that number will depend on how many elected modules you take. But there's 9 exams in the core modules, and then more when you the elected ones. Plus all the assignments on top of that. I know it's a lot of work, as I have friends in the course, one is in her fourth year. She showed me some of the exam papers that's available on the website. She told me it was tough, and by the look of the modules/exams, I believe her. So, what I said in my post isn't crap.

Registering seems so .. buggy? Still don't know if I'm actually registered. It lists my modules and I've paid 43€ so I guess we'll see.

i think so, the whole thing was so confusing,
at first I clicked proceed to survey and it didnt show any questions just DID YOU COMPLETE THE SURVEY?

then when I clicked on subject choices it just showed a blank screen and skipped a few steps lol

My email is working though which is nice.

Is anyone having difficulty accessing their timetable? I cant find mine only an overall class timetable it doesn't make sense should our actual timetable be on our portal page or what?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 term1001

This all seems very confusing and quite poorly explained, I'm not quite sure what I've done and what I still have to do at the minute.

Yea I logged in, Looked at my timetable but I can't claim to understand it and the google calendar thing didn't work.

I think I have done everything that I have to do at this stage but I wish there was some kind of checklist I could follow.

If you have any questions about understanding your timetable, ask and I'll try to answer them.
