Really don't know what to expect as it was my second option and haven't looked into it in massive detail

    Hiya,

I did a lot of research for courses during last year. Chose to avoid this course, because the amount of exams. There's at least 10 exams, not counting the optional modules. U should take look at the past exam papers on every page for all your modules.

10 exams?! Damn it! Do you have a link for these as I can't find them. Thank you.

Yeah, sure thing. Don't want to make you nervous, but the Course looks really intense. I have a friend on the course, in her fourth year and she said 'Don't put yourself under pressure by aiming for distinctions. So when I seen the exams for myself, I completely changed direction to what I was going to do.
It's nine exams in the core modules, but you're expected to pick a few optional ones as well. Which ones all depend on the way you want your career path to go. My friend had a total of 12 exams. But they break them into semesters. Six in January, six in May, So you won't have them all in one go. When you see the list for the modules, the exam weight is in the column to the right.

I would give you the link, but Boards won't let me post links. So I'll give you directions instead.

Log onto DCU homepage, then 'Study at DCU' in the menu at the top of the page, and 'Undergraduate Programmes' in the drop down menu. When the page changes, click DCU Business School. When you find your course in that list,
Click it. Read down through what it says, but look for a link that says 'View the subjects currently taught on this course (2014-2015)'. It's on the page twice. In the section for Programme Learning Goals and the last line on the page about the course. Click the link, and a page will come up for all your modules. Each module in the list is a link, telling you learning outcomes, exam weights, assignments, etc. after you click any of the module links, at the top of the page, the next link you look for, is 'Online Module Resources', no matter which module you click. When that page comes up, the link for past exam papers is in that first paragraph. If the modules has exams attached to them they'll have the exam papers posted on those pages for the modules. From what I made out, they have exam papers going back the past ten years or more, for most of the modules. All the exams is in the same place for each course. I found them a huge help in deciding my course. Good luck. I hope you find your course is for you. I'm a new student at DCU as well. International Relations. Hope the advice helps.

Thanks a million for that. That's a real help I appreciate it. I'm a little bit intimidated now by the course but I'm willing to work hard at things despite not being the best under pressure! Intense isn't too bad as long as difficulty is at a minimum

No worries. Glad to help. Ah, don't be intimidated. You'll be fine. There's a huge amount of support through the campus. Have plenty of contact with your personal tutor and attend all your classes and lectures. Pay attention to feedback. There'll be help, if you find it difficult. Do the work and study like hell, and if you work your arse off, you'll have some great opportunities, when you graduate. It'll be really worth the hard work. That's what I'm telling myself, anyway. Good luck

I already have mine. They've been rolling them out from the start of the third week of August. It's says on the DCU website to contact the Registry office, if you don't have the pack by the 4th, so it should arrive from tomorrow onwards.

Just got my pack today, Not too much info in it though. Most important things are your email and password along with your timetable for orientation week.

Does it say anything about that you have to bring the paper itself to orientation or anything like that? reason i'm wondering is because i need to get to dublin latest next week monday so i can look for accommodation but i don't want to leave without the paper in case i need the physical copy. I don't live in ireland either so once i leave i wont be returning home

I can't look at it right now because I'm out but I don't think there was anything we physically needed to bring. I'll post again when I get home but you could easily take all the stuff they give you to Dublin as it is only the size of an envelope.
