i couldve told you that 2 years ago, once they announced a 26 episode 5th season, and that was to be broken into 2, syfy always signs actors up for 5 seasons, so unless its a runaway hit they never bother renegotiating,

but i think it might be just about enough to have a decent ending, the first half of season 5 was a little here and there, but overall its well set-up for the second half,

    The Ambassador’s Wife
Anne Hathaway has signed on to star in the limited series “The Ambassador’s Wife,” from Entertainment One and the Mark Gordon Co.

Project is based on the newly released novel by author Jennifer Steil about a British woman who is kidnapped in Yemen, setting off an ordeal for her and her ambassador husband.

The project is the most high-profile TV effort to come from Mark Gordon Co. since he set up shop in July with eOne in an effort to build a mini film and TV studio. Entertainment One will finance “Ambassador’s Wife,” which will make the starry package even more of a hot property when it is shopped to TV and digital outlets.

There’s no word yet about a writer for the TV adaptation. Hathaway will also serve as a producer on the series.

ABC have ordered a pilot for an Agents of SHIELD spinoff, called Marvels Most Wanted, set to feature bobbi morse and lance hunter, so both characters would probably be leaving the show, its only a pilot order, so i wouldnt expect this to happen till next year, and both characters will remain on the show for season 3,

probably not good news for Agents Carter, unless their planning on expanding their TV content,

You can get all the cast back but it won't mean anything without Richard Curtis and Ben Elton.

The approval rating for Agent Carter is off the chart so I would seriously doubt that at this stage
well i said probably, while carter is a great show its not quite clear if marvel are interested in a long run for the show, Agents of SHIELD is necessary as a delivery vehicle for the films, it helps round out the MCU much better, fill voids between films, and deal with the consequences of one film and lead into the next, like the fallout from winter soldier, and now queuing up the
    Inhumans
film due in a few years,

so that can completely tank in the ratings and still have a guaranteed renewal, ratings dont matter for it, but carter doesnt provide that element to the MCU, and i think it only got renewed cause some other mystery show they were trying to develop didnt come together in time,

i do hope im wrong, i loved Carter, its a great addition to the MCU, peggy still pops up in the films to, in Winter Soldier and more recently Ant Man, so marvel are definitely using her well, its just they took their time renewing it,

Galaxy Quest Series In Works At Paramount Television.Based on the 1999 DreamWorks movie.

    Galaxy Quest

‘Galaxy Quest’ TV Series Takes Flight at Amazon
Grabthar’s hammer, Amazon Studios has signed on to develop a TV series based on “Galaxy Quest.”

The 1999 sci-fi movie starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman as actors who once appeared on a “Star Trek”-like TV series — so convincingly, in fact, that the aliens who later abduct these costars don’t know the show is fake.

While it’s unclear if the original cast will be utilized, original director Dean Parisot, co-writer Robert Gordon and executive producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein are on board.

The deal is also de jour, given how nostalgia is fueling so many other properties. Variety reported in April that Paramount, which produced the “Galaxy Quest” movie and has put increased energy into mining its vault for TV adaptations, had been shopping the project. Paramount is also a co-producer with 20th Century Fox TV on the Fox drama “Minority Report” and producing Fox’s live adaptation of the John Travolta-Olivia Newton-John musical “Grease.”

One of my favourite films, remember going to see it in the cinema, and while a TV re-make will be nowhere as good without Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell, Tony Shaloub, etc. of all the re-boots and re-makes being announced recently, this one I think has potential. They need to get the right cast though and cameos from the original Galaxy Quest cast as well as cameos from the Star Trek franchise would definitely help it find it's feet.

Not strictly renew/cancel news, but related- Nielson has started to monitor performance of shows on streaming services like Netflix, Amazon and Hulu – this could be ground-breaking for shows which aren’t doing massively well commercially on TV, but have a good following and viewer base.

    Nielsen, trying to stay relevant.

I really can't see Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, HBO Now etc letting another company have access to there confidential information around viewing figures in what is about to become one of the most cut throat business models in the next decade.

I happen to know the Netflix is very precious about these figures, but apparently there has been a trial going on for a month (not sure if with Netflix specifically). I'm sure there are ways around this - i.e. where Nielson gets some kind of figure from Netflix that represents popularity without specifying viewership.

'Mr Robot' has been a critical hit and has a cult following at this stage, the same could not be said of 'Complications' which I'd never heard of until now.

oh absolutely it has been a hit, just not ratings wise, it was only cause i saw the VH1 had cancelled some show that they had renewed back in march that the thought entered my head, so it can happen,

its absolutely not crap at all, unquestionably the best new show this year for me, sorry to here you didnt like it, but as ive said it has struggled in the ratings, so your not a minority or anything,

Under the dome cancelled. Good. I don't know why I'm still watching it. It was a one season show at most, spread wafer thin... I expect absolutely no resolution of the story either.

The drug episode almost turned me off it too. I'm glad I stuck with it (it's bloody brilliant) but that episode was a horrific viewer-losing misstep.
